I was backed up for 4 days and decided that I was done with being in pain and not being able to eat. I really should have tried a stool softener first because I thought I was going to die last night. The label on the box says it may cause "cramping, faintness and stomach discomfort". What it actually does (3 hours later) is cause intense vomiting, cold sweats, chills, the most painful stomach cramping I have ever experienced, and diarrhea for the next 24 hours. Granted, I feel much better now, but at what cost? Good god I thought I was going to have to call an ambulance. I don't know what the fuck they think they're doing, but whoever put "gentle and predictable overnight relief " on the box needs to be fed an entire box of the shit. End rant.
Re: Do NOT take Dulcolax!
As someone who's dealt with plenty of constipation, pregnant or not, I can vouch for Fiber One, also eat prunes, and grapes sometimes help me.
Also, make sure you're drinking plenty of water.
**edit not all three at one time just use one at a time!!!
Metamucil is a godsend. I take it every other day. It's also great in smoothies
