started having what I thought were Braxton hicks contractions at 2am this morning. It's a dang good thing I tracked them and called into the hospital because they wanted me to come in. I had been suffering a uti this entire week and they thought that is probably what was causing the contractions and they would just get them to stop and send me home, but surprise... They checked me and I was already dilated to a 5-6. The nurses were shocked and everything was a whirlwind after that and moved quickly. I was unable to have an epidural like I had planned on because of my spinal fusion and rods. They gave me a spinal dose, but it wore off quickly and my labor ended up being unmedicated, once again, never planned on that! Baby boy was born at 9:13 am weighing in at 4lbs 9oz. They thought he would only be about 2 lbs so this is great. He is doing awesome, but of course needs assistance breathing and was given steroids for his lungs. He was transported to another hospital that is actually closer to my house that has a more advanced nicu. I'm grateful for this, but sad that I won't be staying in the same place as him. I know he is in good hands, all the docs and nurses have been so great and DH will go be with him shortly. I never imagined I would be one of the moms on here posting that I went into early labor. They have no idea why I did (I'm 33 wks 3 days). Please send love and prayers to my baby boy that he will grow healthy and strong! Thank you!
Re: Surprise! Welcome, baby boy.
FTM & TEAM BLUE!!!
Have you given your little man a name yet?
Thanks for all the well wishes and prayers, they are so appreciated! Baby is doing good so far. DH went and spent some time with him and says he is so cute. He holds his blanket with his tiny hand and DH said when he cried if DH talked to him he would settle down and get all cozy looking. I feel so blessed at this time to have DH by my side. I hesitate to share LO's name because I know most people hate it, but oh well, lol. It's
Stark Paxton (and then of course our last name). Thanks again everyone I hope all of you have a healthy and happy rest of your pregnancy!
I look forward to more updates.
