Maternity Jeans

Re: Maternity Jeans

  • YES! I started using a bella band last week at 8 weeks, the bloat by the end of the day is insane! I bought a pair of jeans one size up a few weeks ago, and I ordered maternity jeans and shorts from oldnavy.com today. A co-worker had a baby last September, and I distinctly remember her having a really hard time finding maternity shorts in the Summer, so I'm going to stock up on Summer stuff when I find decent deals (they were $20).

Even my normal tops don't fit right anymore. I'm actually wearing a cute maternity top today. I hope it just looks really ruched and not too much like a maternity sweater (pic attached). I was so tired of wearing baggy clothes, especially since all my baggy clothes are warm and bulky. Nothing more miserable than working in a well heated office, bloated and sweaty all day.

I'm 9 weeks 3 days today, and while baby is the size of an olive, my uterus is the size of a grapefruit, I definitely notice a difference in my clothes. I'm glad I'm not the only one!

    Hee hee "bloated and sweaty"
Seriously the shirt doesn't look like maternity at all.
  • I'll be 11w tomorrow and I'm there too. I was a 0 pant size prepregnancy and am super petite. My uterus has been above the plevic bone for at least two weeks now, baby will be up there soon, not to mention my horrible bloat. I haven't found a pair of maternity pants that fit yet (apparently its hard when you're petite?) but I can't wait. I can't find my big, stretchy leggings and I only have one pair of jeans that fit still. My yoga pants aren't even comfortable anymore.
  • @emkcude‌ check out this link! Maybe you can buy online? : ) https://www.lifewithmylittles.com/2014/06/best-places-to-shop-for-maternity.html?m=1 @jweber4747‌ I can't wait for that! I only have two maxi skirts right now. I'm preparing for more this summer! Wondering about jackets... My arms aren't going to swell massively right? Lol. I'll still be able to wear my usual jean jacket?
Thanks so much @kaylarenae3! I'm checking that site out right now :)
  • Omg who says something like that to a random stranger???
  • I got a killer sale at old navy and scored 6 maxi dresses that were $35 each for $10 each. I know what I will be living in this summer

I too am having a hard time with maternity pants....I'm so ready for them at 9w1d due to the bloat but the smallest sizes I've seen are size small which say they fit pre pregnancy 4-6....I was wearing 1s and 3s pre pregnancy. So while they feel nice they tend to be too long or pooch in weird places because my hips aren't large enough...and I don't want to spend $50 on 1 pair of pants I wear a few months that never fit right. Thanks for mentioning that petite women tend to have issues with maternity pants....made me feel less alone in my frustration.
  • @MrsPyrowiz‌ and @mathesq0‌ I saw some xs maternity jeans and even petite xs pants today at motherhood maternity. The small fit me and I'm a 4-6 so I bet the extra small would fit you guys. And they were on clearance! :)
  • Check out Ann Taylor Loft too! I got maternity jeans for $12 and $5! :)

Thank you for the info! I just got 2 pairs of jeans and a pair of work pants.

  • I'm honestly trying not to buy any actual pants, because come on, pants suck and are hardly comfy when you're NOT pregnant! I figure I'll be at my biggest this summer and plan to wear maxi skirts or dresses. For now I'm going with leggings and long tunic tops or sweater dresses. I also found some glorious stretchy pants at Target, not sure what they're called but look like the type of pants from traditional Indian clothing? They are amazing!
  • I pulled out my old maternity jeans this morning and forgot that they didn't have belt loops.  I barely wore them last time because they were so hard to pull up without belt loops!

  • I got Jessica Simpson's maternity jeans and I'm SO happy I did!
  • I went shopping for maternity clothes yesterday. I have been hitting up some thrift stores. Since I won't wear these clothes much I don't see spending tons of money. I found some great things like shirts from Motherhood that look like they've never been worn, old navy maternity jeans, all for less than $5 a piece. It was awesome! I also bought some tops from Motherhood, found a bathing suit for this summer at Belk, among other things. Clearance racks have become my best friend!

Thanks for the info! I actually went to the mall today to go to motherhood...prego brain hit.....I forgot it closed early on sunday. Seriously not wanting to put my regular pants on this week...so I tried a different target and they had an xs and a size 2 both were on sale. I got 2 pairs of jeans, 2 maternity tanks, 1 regular tank (it was 3 dollars surely I can use someday) and a regular top that was also $3. Spent $60 with a 25% off coupon on cartweel.....I guess I was finally motivated due to my discomfort. So target occasionally has xs sizes in maternity!
  • @CEW225 you may also be interested in thredup which is an online consignment shop. I also don't like spending a lot for things I won't use much. You get a $10 credit for joining. https://www.thredup.com/r/PW6HHG
  • @mathesq0‌ Thanks for the suggestion! Didn't know about that. A friend of mine said she bought a lot of stuff off of eBay, but I will definitely check that website out!
  • I just turned 8 weeks today but I am with you looking to switch to maternity pants soon. As for the "timeline" response everyone is different for my first pregnancy I probably didn't wear maternity pants until 15 weeks but this time around I could any day.
  • I am beyond happy with my Jean purchases and feel so much better going out knowing I have those to rock! I have a retroverted uterus and I'm a FTM so I probably won't show for another couple months BUT I am so bloated Bleh. Plus they definitely don't look like maternity jeans at all! I got a pair of dark skinnies and a lighter wash cuffed boyfriend Jean with some rips. Leerrrrrrv them!!
  • I totaly snagged several pairs this weekend on gap with 40% order coupon. And yoga pants too - couldn't beat the prices

  • gap has their sale items at an additional 40% off right now which makes some of their jeans $20 and under. I just ordered 2 pair and a dress for about $50! I've heard Gap is good for maternity jeans and leggings, I just don't want to pay $70 for them!
  • Wishing I could do maternity jeans, can never find them in my height and I do not look good in petal pushers. just been buttoning mine under the bump that comes and goes with bloat.
  • Nice! Checking out the gap selection now!
  • @pyraknight‌ I'm pretty sure they have long sizes at destination maternity from what I remember
  • I just bought my first set of maternity clothes (my mom was so excited to get them for me! ) and the jeans/skinny jeans are SO COMFORTABLE!!!! Considering wearing them full time after pregnancy! Lol.

I'm also at the bloat stage. I'm a smidgen over two weeks and I just feel fat. But I try not to let it get me down because i know it'll turn into bump.
  • Macys also has a maternity section small but they carry motherhood as well as a lot of other brands and are usually on sale plus they have those WOW passes for the additional discount.
  • My god, who CARES how big the baby is? Maternity pants are LOVELY! My baby was the size of a gd poppy seed and I busted those things out!!!

  • I got some cute and COMFY jeans at Target on sale! I def should have gotten some pre-pregnancy too, I think I could wear them 24/7 and sleep in them too! I am amost 12 weeks and have felt so bloated starting at 8 weeks also, so I totally hear you! I'm glad I'm not the only bloated one
  • I totally meant to say just shy after two months, not two weeks!

The clothes I bought today were at target too!
  • I'm a ftm and I bought my first pair of maternity jeans at about 8 weeks due to the bloat. I got them from old navy and I don't think I'd buy them again... They stretch out after having them on for an hour and then they keep falling down all day. Does anyone know if gap jeans do that too?
  • @audrey305‌ regular old navy jeans are like that too X( Which is why I didn't try for maternity ones. But I am hoping to buy some shorts from them for summer. I'm assuming I'll get sick of the thigh run with all the maxi skirts and dresses I want to wear.
  • Omg just got some joes jeans maternity hand me downs from my sister.....I am in heaven! I slept in them by accident they are so comfortable!!!!

They don't fit yet, but I think they will in a couple months. Thanks!
  • Found two pairs of pants and a pair of shorts at the thrift store: $15 total. I tried them on, of course! I would've been glad to have just found one so I'm pretty stoked I got three! Shirts are another story.

  • It's all about personal preference and comfortability! For me, I started out overweight so the little bit of extra roundness that appeared was not about to fit in my jeans! I'm 10w3d and am in maternity jeans. Or I just wear yoga pants :)
