DH traveling, DS driving me crazy. Venting

DH is out of town for a wedding and I'm too close to my due date to go (with the high blood pressure). So it's just me and 20-month-old DS. He's driving me crazy. He usually wakes up around 6:30. I set my alarm early enough to get ready for work before he wakes up. What does he do? The last two days, he's gotten up at 5am instead. Then I have to figure out how to juggle him while I get ready for work. Today I figured it out and got ready, then we went downstairs for breakfast. While in the kitchen, I started throwing up. This made him laugh and make gagging sounds (making fun of me). The sound triggered more vomiting. The vomit got all over my face and was forceful enough that I peed, so I had to go up and get ready all over again and figure out what to do with him all over again.

And everything was a fight. He wanted to play in the potty. He didn't want to get dressed. He didn't want to wear his coat. He didn't want to get in his carseat. He didn't want to go to HIS classroom at daycare. He's too heavy to carry while I'm pregnant. I'm to pregnant to bend over and pick him up and chase him anywhere.

Bottom line: It's 8am and I'm done for the day.

:(  Sounds like a very un-fun morning.  Hope the fact that it's Friday can give you a little lift.  And hope you feel better!

my husband travels a lot and is gone for a week or more at a time so I understand how hectic it can be.

Ohhh how I feel your pain!!!  Like every single day. lol  My son is 6 and NEVER wants to get ready for school.  Literally it's a battle every day about what clothes he's wearing. He wants to wear 'comfy' pants every day of the week.  I tell him no.. I caved today because I just didn't have the energy to argue about it. DH HATES when I let him wear 'comfy' pants to school. They're just like athletic track pants but whatever.  Our daughter is 2 and she was up crying at 6am this morning. Normally she wakes up closer to 7 and I can at least shower before she's up. Not today. Didn't want to change into her clothes. Requested pancakes with syrup for breakfast.. I just did frozen this morning and then it was.. I sticky.. I sticky.. every two minutes. lol

Then my son says to me... mommy you really need to hurry up and get ready.  Well no kidding kid but you guys keep throwing fits and asking for things and haven't had a chance to yet!!

Don't even get me started on peeing. lol  I've been sick for almost 3 weeks. Coughing like a crazy person. Last night I had to wear DH's athletic shorts to bed because I have NO clean pajama shorts/pants. I've peed them all! It's getting ridiculous.

I probably should not be carrying around DD either. She's 2.. she's about 30lbs.  She hates walking in ANY sort of snow. So of course we get to daycare and she's like noooo uppy.. uppy.. and just throws a fit until I pick her up.  Same thing at home.  And we live in a split level so carrying her is one thing but when we get home it's up 2 flights of stairs with my work bag/purse, her backpack, her in my arms. Then my son will look at me and say mommy.. can you carry my backpack? Yeah.. do I look like I can carry your backpack. lol No.

I am terrified at the thought of 3 kids. And a baby that I'll be nursing and trying to get to work on time. I barely make it every day as it is!

    - UGH. I can relate. DS can't stand having anything on his fingers or spilled on his part of the table. As soon as that happens, it's "Mess mess mess. Need tissue." Then he 'cleans' and starts yelling "Trashcan! Trashcan! Trashcan!" until I let HIM throw away the trash himself. Then he has to get back in his chair and eat more. Repeat for everything he could possibly spill through the entire meal. That is a LOT of bending and lifting for me

    - I gave up and broke into my post-partum overnight pad supply. Then I used them all up. Then I bought more. And I used those all up. Now the cold is FINALLY gone and I need to buy more.

    - This too. DS is between 25-30lbs. He loves walking by himself, but this involves him wandering 1000 directions at the same time. Chasing him around is just as bad as carrying him. I tried walking away so he'd come after me crying. But no. He just says "bye-bye." We arrive at daycare in the morning and I have 2 options. Either I fight him to get his coat on, then he wanders all over outside and says "Brrr. cold" OR I just throw the coat over him and carry him in. Both are hard. Would I rather have the coat fight and chase him all over? Or just carry him in? Then getting him down the hall to his daycare room is like running a gauntlet. He has to stop and mess with everything, and say hi to everyone, and try to go into every single room, and open every single cabinet, and play with the drinking fountains, and look at the bathroom, before we get down the hall to his room. Leaving at the end of the day is the same way, coat fight and all. Plus he fights going into his carseat. Then he wants to be carried when we get home. And we also have a split level. So I'm juggling him, and his daycare crap, and my work crap, while 2 black labs are jumping on me for food. And he throws a fit if I put him down to feed the dogs. And he throws a fit if I put him in his highchair without food in front of him. So I have to carry him and all of our stuff, while getting out a snack and dogs are jumping on me at the same time, then get him into his highchair, then feed the dogs. And that's usually the point that DH calls to say he's on his way home.
Can't wait to have a baby carrier and a breast pump added to all of this.

mattandlora  My DD is the same way with garbage too!  She's has a fit and I can't just give her a paper towel.. she says she 'needs' a baby wipe. I can't tell you how many times I have busted that girl sneaking all the baby wipes out of her room and literally emptying the entire thing. Either to clean up what she thinks is messy or to diaper her babies who apparently are poopy.  lol

DD will only very occasionally walk on her own into daycare. It drives me nuts because she's heavy and I'm trying to carry her crap and open doors and make sure my son goes to his room etc etc.  Then we get to the daycare room and she's clinging to my leg and won't take off her coat and cries and as I'm leaving I can hear her crying from down the hall. It's awful.  She actually didn't cry today and I almost died of shock.

I HATE having a split level. It seemed like a good idea at the time but 10 years later with 2 kids.. a 3rd on the way and 2 dogs in the house.. not so much!  I try to get DD to walk up the stairs because she can but she won't.  She just says uppy uppy.. and if she starts sliding down my hip she's like mamma I falling... I falling. lol By the time I get to the top of the stairs I'm exhausted.  We have our house listed now for the 2nd time.. only two showings in 6 months and not favorable. Looks like many many more trips up and down those stairs for me!

I am almost always doing drop offs/pick ups by myself.  DH will do it when he can but he rarely can.  He's gone for work before we're even out of bed.  He's usually home as we're cooking dinner.  It's exhausting. I'm hoping that I can stay home after this baby because the baby can't go to the school that my DD and DS go to. Kids have to be at least 12 months and drinking from a sippy cup before they will take them. So that means two drop offs and two pick ups every day.  Pain in the butt!! I did that for the first year with my DD and it was just so exhausting. Not to mention making my commute much longer than it needs to be.

I thought exactly the same as you though. Great.. add a pump bag and an infant carrier to all this. lol Oh boy.  I think DD is going to have to suck it up and walk.
