Anyone else hating giving their toddler a bath?

Standing and bending over hurts my back, my belly gets in the way when kneelig and leaning forward and dont get me started on sitting on her step stool while bathing her. Shes about to get her baths in the sink again. Thank god my 7 year old showers herself. LOL. Having my SO instal a new shower head this weekend.

Re: Anyone else hating giving their toddler a bath?

  • I make my husband do it :)
  • Loading the player...
  • I have my husband do it too.
  • Have them shower. My 4th old does and has since he was about 18 months. The house we lived in until he was 3 didn't have a bathtub
  • This is why I either hop in the bath with my daughter or we take a shower together now. She loves it!

    BFP: 8/23/14 - Due 4/28/15  - It's a BOY!
  • We tried the shower and it didnt work out. The shower pressure in our apartment sucks. And she is super short, so bending over to help her is still required. My SO works out of town Mon-Fri so its just me. Im pretty much trapped into baths. Which used to be.my favorite thing!
  • Can you sit down in the shower and just pick her up to rinse her off?

  • Can't wait til my husband is home so that he can give our son a bath. It's rough kneeling down.
  • My 20mo washes himself, I just put water in the tub and give him soap on his little mitt thingy.
All I have to do it sit there and make sure he doesn't drown. Obviously he doesn't do an award worthy job but it's good enough.
And he gets bubble baths so I figure he's sitting in soapy water so he's good, the dirt comes off.
DH gives him a good scrub down once or twice a week and washes his hair.

Idk how old your LO is but it might be time to start trying to teach her how to do it.
  • Mine bath herself to I just run her water giver her the soap and watch to make sure she doesn't miss anything except for when I have to wash her hair then it's time to lean over other than that she does everything else herself.
  • We have a hand held shower head that I take down and give my DS a shower/bath. I don't need to bend or kneel and it helps a lot!

Your 20 mo bathes himself? I can't imagine my 19 mo doing this, but next time I'm going to start encouraging her.

Mine has been doing it since about 18 months. Soap up the wash cloth or loofah and let them lather up! There's no reason they can't.

This is what I do also.  DD loves baths and so long as I tell her which body parts to wash, she's usually all over it without any problems.  The tricky part is her hair.  I usually have to pour water over her head with a cup but I often get her to stand up so I can.  Then rub some shampoo in and rinse it out.  She does the rest.

How do you teach them to put their head back when you rinse? DS can't grasp this concept and even though the soap doesn't bother his eyes he hates water in his face.

@DeerHunterBride‌ my son freaks out about water in his face too. I started telling him to close his eyes and look at the sky so the water doesn't get him. That has worked for us
