Yes! Bella has been attached to my hip since before we knew! She is protective and ontop of me 24/7. This picture is a few hours before we got our BFP. I was showing my DH who was at work how ridiculous she was being. Now we know why....

How cute, I love the look on her face!! Like, don't mess with my mama, haha. Congrats!
  • Our rescue, Lady (rott and mastiff mix), has always been insanely protective over me. The first two months of the pregnancy she stayed far away from me and became a daddy's girl over night. It was heart breaking!! A week or two ago she came back around. Now she follows me around more than ever and even wedges her huge body between the bed and a chair just to sleep next to me. She has to be so uncomfortable sleeping there. She's going to make a wonderful big sister.

You're both lovely, gorgeous pic! I wish my pup would be super protective like that. My cats are being psychotic but that isn't anything new really. Loving all the pics and stories!!
  • I have a 6 year old golden retriever named Oliver. I don't think he understands yet that I am pregnant, but he can definitely tell that I am too tired to play and he seems to be okay with it when he can normally be pretty impatient when he doesn't get play time! I know he will be super excited to have a baby in the house. My sister still lived at home when she had her first child and Oliver was the best protector ever. He would corral him when he would get to close to the oven or fireplace and they would cuddle together for a nap almost every day. I am so excited for Oliver to have that relationship with my baby!
  • Oliver is absolutely gorgeous! Congrats on your pregnancy too
  • My cat is already very sensitive to how I feel and loves to cuddle. She's always by me cuddling and getting pet. I don't know if she knows or not. I told her she's going to be a big sister though!
  • I have a chihuahua mix I've been with her for almost 11 month's but she's been 8-9 years with my husband and I'm pregnant I'm 10 weeks and it's like she doesn't know I'm having a baby she jumps over me steps like there's nothing so for me it's like my dog doesn't know.... :-<
  • Aw thank you. I snuck a picture of Lady this morning. DH and I don't know how she fits her huge body in that odd, smal space.

I have two dogs and they both have reacted completely differently.

My little guy, 3 year old dashund/terrier mix named Titan, definitely knew before I did. He just started being EXTRA cuddly and following me literally everywhere, crying when I left, etc. He's become extremely protective of me and will not leave my side, even protecting me from our other pets. He's been my little "morning" sickness buddy, sitting beside me and giving me little nudges or licking my elbow, almost like he is offering some cold-nosed support.

Athena, my pitbull/boxer mix puppy, is completely oblivious. The only thing she might be noticing is that we have gotten much stricter about jumping and rough housing anywhere near Mommy. She's a pretty girl, but I'm not going to lie, she's not all that sharp.

Our cat also probably knows. He won't come near me. It's like he's mad that I'm bringing another baby into this mix. LOL

Athena is adorable but I am in love with Titan. He is soooooo cute!!!!
  • The dogs are both oblivious, but my 2 cats have been very attentive and are always cuddling up to me. My cat Joharrah curls up on the left side of my bump, where the baby is, and purrs like crazy.
  • We have a 6 year old pitbull boxer mix that my fiance had before I was in the picture and she has always been very much his dog, but since I've been pregnant she is glued to my side! Its sweet and cute, but it also gets annoying having a constant body guard to trip over lol. Meanwhile my cat either doesn't care or is oblivious

Thank you! Titan is my little ride-or-die buddy. He's there for me every step of the way! Mama's boy!
  • I just love everything about this entire thread.
  • My Lilly definitely knows. She always knows when I'm sick or when something is up with me. She's extra patient and understanding and tries to stay near my side as a comfort to know I'm not alone. One night I had the worst nausea and left the bed to prop myself up on the couch. She stayed with me all night, and my husband said she led him out to me in the morning. The last few nights she's also hopped up on the bed to be closer to me, and she usually doesn't come up unless we call her. Such a loving pup!
  • This is my dog Fritz. We think he knows because he is always wanting to cuddle with me.

They have no idea that they will soon have to share all of the attention.   I am trying to get them used to the word "baby", maybe once I start to show they will wonder what's up, they still seem clueless. Except for the fact that they don't get to jump on Mom anymore, just Dad!

Glad to see I've got my ticker working.....

  • @jenybats‌ Your pups are so precious!
  • We have a 7 year old Beagle and he has been very protective and always just wants to lay right at my belly, if people he doesn't know come around the house his "I mean business poof" (a strange callic he has on his back when he gets serious) and he barks his little head off. We also have a kitten, she follows me around like I owe her money, I cant even go to the bathroom by myself and if I close the door she meows like shes dying outside of the door until I let her in. MY DH just took a picture of me sleeping with the dog between my legs and the cat on my chest... They seem have taken to "protecting" me. Sometimes it cutes but most of the time its just annoying because I cant walk anywhere in the house without being followed by animals LOL
  • @indogbeersiveonlyhadone‌ OMG, my kitten is actually doing the same now! She swipes under the bathroom door and meows like someone is killing her when I'm in there! Now I just let her in there with me so she doesn't wake everyone up haha. When I'm working at my desk she is curled up in my lap, and right now I'm lying on the bed and she's stretched out across my chest. Such a little weirdo. image
  • I have 3 Yorkies and a Morkiepoo. All of which started acting strange a couple months ago. More clingy to me. Especially my Morkiepoo, Baby. He's always been stuck up my butt, but even more so now. He constantly wants to lay on my stomach or walk all around it. Which is quite painful.. After I've pushed him away a few times, he usually gives up and lays his head on me. I'm 9 weeks and 5 days.

The cat became super friendly and sympathetic - he knows something is up...

  • Big brother and sister sleeping across my belly :) They also sleep against my back in bed now as opposed to my feet. Love them :)

  • You probably smell different to her. My Yorkie ran away for me and hid underneath the bed when I was about seven weeks pregnant. Now he's constantly laying either on my belly or on my butt. And there's no getting rid of him, lol.

I went to a friend's house, and her American Staffordshire Terrier wouldn't leave me. He sat right in between my legs, and even when she picked up his bed and shook it, he wouldn't move, just sat and whined because he hates for his bed to be messed with. One of the Maltipoos I baby sit growled at the other when he was sitting on my lap.

    Dogs are so smart!

The picture is my Yorkie sleeping next to me.
  • Little do they know, their life is going to dramatically change in 7 months! They will always be my first babies!

Gorgeous pups! Life will be so different. I wonder how they will all adjust? Hopefully it goes smoothly
  • We lost our Lucy in July. I wish she was here because she was very intuitive and would have been my best friend during this time.
  • I have a two year old Chihuahua and she has no idea. She is always snugly and lovable so I guess we'll see if anything changes. I thought I was the only one whose furbaby had no idea. Glad to see this post. Not letting me post a pic. :(
  • @sherbear82‌ I'm sorry you lost your pup, we've had a few close calls with ours getting really sick and it's just an awful, helpless feeling. I'm sure she would have loved baby, and I think a new puppy would fit great into the family too when you guys are ready! Congrats on your pregnancy!

These are my 2 German Shepherds, Indy (w/ brown feet) and Kaiko. They don't care either way...lol. But I'm sure they'll notice another crumb dropper for sure!
Can I have your dogs?? Thanks lol
  • My 16 year old daughter's Maltese is usually always clinging to her or my husband. For the past month, our little Maltese has been clinging to me. That's highly unusual since we normally stay away from each other.

Lol, I love them, but they are one big black hairball of madness. haha
  • Our sweet little boy knows..
  • Our havanese-shihtzu mix definitely knows. He doesn't leave me side and always wants to sit on top of me and snuggle. He's very protective of me, too.

We have a boxer too, he's such a knuckle head, I don't think he realizes anything.
