Maternity Leave: When is everyone starting?

Re: Maternity Leave: When is everyone starting?

  • I'm a nurse and went on leave at 33 weeks!! I'm on my feet a lot and they were painful from swelling up. Also lower back pain and heat really getting to me. Plus I coordinate shifts so can be stressful. I was so big at 33 weeks I didn't even fit in my mat uniform so I had to wear large scubs that were hot. I'm only a small build but my tummy popped out very big early in pregnancy and am always measuring a few weeks ahead. You ladies working till your due date amaze me I couldn't of done it! Super women!

  • I plan to finish up at 39 weeks- fingers crossed!
  • I'm a waitress and plan on working til he comes I'm due March 8th the exercise is good for me even though I'm tired and I'm swelling I'd rather work now and get more time off when he comes I have no kind of,maternIty leave so I have to work as much as possible right now.
  • Iam due March 27th and plan on beginning my maternity leave a week before Iam due. Iam a teacher as well and being on my feet all day is making me uncomfortable.
  • Also a teacher and plan on working until I go into labor. I'm due on the 19th which is a Thurs, so if the baby has not come by Fri the 20th, I won't go back.

I plan on taking the rest of the year off, so more time at work now means more full pay sick leave after birth.

My dad keeps joking that I should lecture in a kiddie pool just in case my water breaks at work. Thanks dad...
  • I changed from being a furniture sales rep to guest care bc I was swelling. When ever my boycotts that day I call cigna and start my fmla. Not scared more out of room and so ready
  • Boy comes... Not boycotts
  • My due date is March 11th. I had a episode of bleeding. Although they couldn't tell what it was they think it was a rupture in my placenta. That happened on Jan 3rd. Luckily every visit has been fine and heathy but because of the bleeding I am considered a high risk pregnancy. I had planned on working right up to my due date but I was pulled out of work that week (jan 5th being my first day). It can be difficult because I had to use up all my PTO time and apply for disability early. And apply for some benifits from social services (like wic and food stamps) to try to get by because my boyfriend only makes so much money and disability doesn't pay a lot. I am 36 weeks pregnant today. I have the remainder of my pregnancy left plus the 6-8 weeks materity before I can return to work. Hopefully my spot will be held because FMLA only covers my job for 12 weeks.
  • I was researching this a lot too. I've found that the standard for most seems to be between 36 and 38 weeks. I'm making my 36th week my last.
  • In 2 weeks, which is a week and a half before my due date. My job requires too much driving and public appearances to work right up to my due date. I'm counting the days!
  • Wow the maternity leave policy in America is tough ! In Ireland we get 26 weeks plus 16 weeks unpaid , also we can carry over annual leave and are entitled to leave from period on ml ... I'm very lucky as am in the public sector as a social work manager so my 26 weeks are fully paid ... My twin works in a private company and is entitled to 26 weeks ml but the company will not pay ... She gets state benefit ... I'm finished since 34 weeks as job is just too stressful and I need to rest ! I hope to take 13 months off x
  • I am a teacher also and we are giving the PARCC test the week of my due date so I am taking that week off but it has been stressful trying to prepare for my leave and for the sub.

WE ARE PARCC TESTING THE WEEK BEFORE MY DUE DATE! Also found out we cannot sit at our desks during testing and must walk the entire room. I am hoping my little miss decides to make a 39 week appearance to get me out of it... But none the less she will probably cook until 42 weeks knowing my luck
  • I'm a teacher too and was planning on working up until my due date, March 4th. Then I was told last week that I am 3cm dilated and 100 % effaced and he could come at any time! I've still been going to work, but every night that he doesn't come and I know I have to go in the next morning I get more frustrated! I teach little ones and I'm usually very peppy and upbeat at school, but lately I just haven't had the energy. I'm crossing my fingers he comes today so I don't have to go in tomorrow! Good luck!!
  • I plan on working til my due date. I work in a casino as a dealer. So I am on my feet all day, stretching and bending over a table. It has it's ups and downs I get yelled at by players and it is a smoking environment. The players know which dealers are pregnant my company allows us to wear a special uniform. Tips are very good this time of year because it's tax refund season so I am working as much as possible I am due march 27th. My little squishy always knows when it is a busy night she can hear all the people and she liked to move a lot.
