vag discharge? - might be TMI

OK ladies, let's talk discharge...

Recently, I have had an increase in vaginal discharge that is a yellowish green color with no odor. Anyone else experiencing something similar? I mentioned it to my OB at my last appointment and she just prescribed me diflucan assuming it was a yeast infection. That was just yesterday so maybe it will still work but its pretty obnoxious if I may say so.

Could be bacterial rather than yeast maybe? And no, no worries of STD (first thing you get when you google...)

  • I've noticed A LOT more myself. I even Googled what it's like when your water breaks bc I felt so wet. Well it's not my water. I think it's pretty normal. :)

  • Increased discharge is normal during pregnancy.

  • I'm 28w Friday and have noticed a lot of discharge- freaked me out because I haven't had that much all Along and I got worried I was leaking since it's been clear. When I had it checked out they swabbed me to run a culture (after ruling out amniotic fluid). The things I've read in my baby book suggest green and yellow need treatment, which it sounds like you're getting but if it keeps up I would go back in.
  • I'm 25w and have had my discharge range from clear to yellow to yellowish-green to watery the entire pregnancy. I've been cultured twice and both times it was normal.

Always best to ask your doctor just to be safe though. A culture might set your mind at ease.
  • I'm 24 weeks and have been experiencing light yellow discharge for a long time. I've had 3 cultures and have all came back normal. My doctor said I shouldn't worry about it since everything is coming back negative. I agree with other people have said, it's always best to check with your doctor first.

I tend to have more discharge during pregnancy. I also test positive for GBS every time. It's a bacterial strep that women can develop during pregnancy. It's not an STD! I am just a carrier which means it doesn't bother me but can make the baby very sick during delivery if I am not treated with antibiotics during labor. I also receive a dose of antibiotics during pregnancy every time I test positive. They usually test for this during pregnancy around 37 weeks I think. I echo PP it may just be pregnancy discharge but I would definitely check again with the doctor! It doesn't hurt anything for them to do a culture just to be on the safe side;)

  • Discharge is very normal and a lot of it panty
    Liners that saves your underwear
  • Thanks ladies. I think I am going to call tomorrow just to get a culture and ease my mind. I have a terrible upper respiratory virus that I was told could cause changes in my CM (think, yellowish, tint of green.. Gross) but it doesn't seem to be getting any better. I don't think I ever could have accounted for all the changes in my body caused by pregnancy!
  • I would get swabbed. As you mentioned it could be bacterial.

My two boys are getting a surprise May 2015!

  • This is my 3rd preg and I've never had as much discharge as I have this time. It varies from watery to clumpy, white to yellow. Yuck. I'm 25 w today and at my last appt when I mentioned it to dr, he was unconcerned as I'm not having itching or burning. In fact, he said it protects you and baby. I would of felt better if he had checked me and will ask him to at my next appt if this is stil an issue.
  • Discharge is totally normal during pregnancy. I've noticed an increase in it myself. I think if it's discolored though, it COULD be something else entirely. I don't know if assuming it's a yeast infection was right on your doctor's part without an exam, but hopefully that medicine clears it up. Otherwise, I'd ask for some testing, maybe?

  • That has refrained me from not having sex. It's been more than 3 months
  • I got in for an appointment tomorrow. It seems to be decreasing so I'm not sure its much of anything but a culture will ease my mind!
