Milk blister --Help!

Does anyone have experience with milk blisters or clogged ducts? If so how did you take care of it? For the blocked duct I've tried warm compresses and massage. And for the milk blister, which hurts like a mother BTW, I've tried ointment, alcohol, and piercing it with a sterile needle, which I was unsure about but read it on several breast feeding websites. I can't even nurse LO on this breast b/c it hurts so bad and now pumping is not very comfy either. Advice please!!!!!

  • Soak in Epsom salt, there is a section on Kelly mom about it. Hang in there, not fun!!

  • The La Leche League book on bfing says to soak a cotton ball in vinegar and wear it over your nipple inside a bra. Milk has a lot of calcium in it and vinegar dissolves calcium deposits.

I know it hurts like a b!tch but the best thing you can do for it is to nurse nurse nurse. Baby will help get the milk worked out. Also, I was able to pull off the extra skin overlapping the blister in the hot shower... After the skin was gone it healed pretty quickly.
