I'm 20 weeks now and I'm struggling to identify my baby's movements. I've been getting a lot of muscle pain in my bump but I don't know why and think that might be why I can't feel the baby moving. Any one else have this issue?
I have an anterior placenta which means baby is closer towards my belly button and can take longer for movements to be noticed. I can't differentiate between baby or gas yet. Just remember, baby has a lot of room to wiggle around right now and that will change and you will feel it.
Have you had your anatomy scan yet? The baby movements made a lot more sense to me when I went because the tech pointed out the distance between the baby and the uterine wall and how much amniotic fluid there was in between. At this point, they are moving around a ton but they are still mostly "swimming" in the amniotic fluid.
Everyone's body and baby is different. I am still not sure if what I feel is gas or the baby, I'm at week 23, but do have an anterior placenta - which means I might not feel the baby kicking in early weeks.. If concerned, you should talk to you doctor at your next appointment. We all feel at different times, in no time, baby will be kicking us all to the point where we will want them evicted!
I'm 23 weeks and my baby boy has been moving since 20 weeks. You'll know it's a little kick. It's the best feeling in the world he moves everyday. We had an ultrasound when he was constaly moving and the nurse asked if I felt it. Just hang on everyone is different
I'm 22 weeks and the times I'm pretty sure I'm feeling movement is when I lay on my back with my legs straight, and put my hands on the bump so the weight of them (not pressing! Just resting them there) applies a little external pressure. Then I can feel what I am pretty sure is baby in there. Not on my hands, mind. Just inside. Yeah, like a big ass butterfly bouncing off the insides. Either that or my guts are just really active when I do that, lol. :-/
The movement I feel is almost like subtle fluttering and slight pressure. I didn't notice anything until 24 weeks with my first - I have had anterior placenta both times.
Someone else said before me that everyone feels their baby's movements at different times. I am 21 weeks and still sometimes confuse my baby's movements for tightness (growing pains) or gas. People say that it feels like flutters, but definitely not for me. The muscle pain you are feeling is your belly growing and making more room for baby...which you can also confuse as pains instead of movements. Also someone said about the anatomy scan, I haven't had one done yet, but I am going to mention it to my HR doctor..only because I see her before I see my OB....you should do the same that way you can tell exactly where baby is at and why you're not really feeling active movements. Good luck
My dr told me it may not b till about 22-25 weeks and I am 20 now and haven't felt anything. The ultra sound tech told me I have felt it I just don't know it...maybe it's my crazy pregnancy hormones but I was so angered by her comment, like I'm so dumb I couldn't realize it was a baby kicking, but I also haven't felt gas or pains or anything else...when I told her I haven't felt anything I meant nothing. Sorry venting about my anger towards the ultra sound tech, she said that last week and I'm still fuming over it.
I think I first felt movement around 18 weeks (it'll be 21 on Friday). At first it feels like weird "butterflies in stomach" except lower in the uterus. I definitely wasn't sure if it was gas or baby. Then a couple days later, it was like a rippling effect if my hands was on my belly. Eventually, I was able to identify sharper movement, and I'm pretty sure the other night, I got a strong kick in the uterus that actually kind of hurt a little.
Don't stress! Everyone is different. I started feeling somersault like movements at 16 weeks and kicks at 18, but a co-worker with the same due date didn't feel anything until 21 weeks. And as mentioned above, it's not uncommon for it to take closer to 24 weeks for some woman.
Also, try spending time relaxed and focused on your tummy while leaning back in the tub or on the bed. If you aren't quiet and being mindful of your little one, it could be easy to miss the first few days/weeks.
My first few kicks were KICKS for me, because I was positioned with a pillow under part of my bum to help with some back pain. I think this was pushing my uterus forward. But generally it felt like small bubbles getting bigger as they reached towards the outside of my tummy, then I would feel a 'pop'.. Which must gave been a fist or a foot!
Everones different. . But im 21 weeks and started feeling movement about two weeks ago. . At first it was like "is that the baby moving" but now i know fursure its the baby, & the movements have gotten a little stronger since i first felt them. Its an amazing feeling.
