No linea nigra this time?

Hi Ladies... not a big deal but just kind of surprised and wondering if anyone else has noticed this :)  I can't search from my phone so I hope this wasn't asked recently...

My first preg with DS I had a very dark solid linea nigra that lasted 9 + months  after birth.  I keep expecting it again, as I had it much earlier than this last time (mid 20's) and now I am nearly 28 weeks pregnant and there is nothing. no line or pigment whatsoever.  seems odd.  I guess I expected it since it was so strong the first time... anyone else?

Re: No linea nigra this time?

  • each pregnancy is different. I have one again, but it isn't as dark as it was the first time at all... it is just a barely there line this go.

  • Same here!! Mine was sooo dark with dd, showed really early and lasted forever after birth..so far at 27 weeks I've got nothing. I even remember dh telling me last time "you're linea nigra is getting really nigra!" Thanks dh lol
  • I haven't noticed anything at all, been wondering about this as well. Is it less likely to show in younger mothers (I'm 21)?
  • Same! I had a long, dark line with my first pregnancy, but nothing this time around.  Fine with me - it took a long time to go away afterwards...

  • I have the opposite - last time nothing but this time I have it. Weird!
  • This is my first pregnancy and I'm 24 week pregnant today and nothing yet! There's still plenty of time but I'm not worried about it!

    I'm a ftm and I haven't got anything yet and I'm at 27 weeks
  • I didn't get it at all with DD and nothing showing up this time around either.

gkrenzel I don't think so, I was 29 with DD and i'm 32 this time around.
  • I had it really bad with my DD but didn't get it with my twins or this time either. Lol.
  • I don't think it's age related at all, it's the point that your abdominal muscles a split each way
  • Just FYI, you can search on your phone by scrolling all the way to the bottom of the page :)

    I don't have one either at 27w.
  • 26 weeks today and I have a faint line below my belly button and starting to get a faint one above my belly button.

DH pointed the bottom one out several weeks ago..."Look at your line! You're starting to get one!" He has been pretty excited about the strange changes...its cute.

I only had it with my first pregnancy. Not sure what is "normal"!

    So excited for Baby #4!
  • I'm glad you brought this up because I've been wondering! I had a dark line early on with my 1st and nothing yet! Wonder what causes it once but not the next? I don't mind though because that thing hung around FOREVER last time!
