Re: The Final Cut

  • I love the name Asher! It was on the top of DH's and my list for a boy (LO is a girl) ...makes me think of Sherilyn Kenyon's book Acheron.

    I agree
i do not like mason and asher at all
    Alexander if you must

  • I personally love the name Asher, but please don't use it with another tradesman type name (Baker, Hunter, Mason, etc) because it sounds silly.

  • Mason is my grandpa's middle name. That would be the reason for choosing it. I don't really care about your feelings on how "horrendous" you think Asher is. We love it because it's biblical, meaning blessed & happy which is very fitting for us. I also think it fits well with our other children. I've come to this board asking advice for my last 3 babies & with everyone of the names I've chosen magsugar13 is always there to tell me how much she hates the name. That makes me laugh. Must mean I've chosen the right name then :-)
  • Asher is my NN. :) I'm loving seeing it on all these cute little boys!!
  • I prefer Alexander to Mason...Mason became too trendy and common. But on the other hand, Asher Mason flows better and has meaning to you
  • Love Asher Alexander. I don't see what's horrendous about it.. They're real names spelled correctly on the appropriate sex.

I agree that Mason is definitely too popular. I'm hoping that since it is in the middle spot that it won't be such a big deal. I was worried about Asher Mason sounding too trendy though.
  • If Mason has family meaning to you, I pick Asher Mason.

The meaning of the name is what sold me on it too when we were coming up with names.

Grrr at "it's a bible name! We want to use bible names!" They are NOT ONLY bible names. And the fact that a name is in the bible does not make it good. Like Heth. It's in the bible too and it's awful.

I hadn't planned to comment on this post because I can't wrap my mind around why Asher is "suddenly"? so popular; but now that I'm here I might as well agree that it's not too great. And awkward to say.

And i like both of your mn choices equally.

AND since you had to be rude to magsugar13 I will have to stick up for her and say maybe you should/ve start listening to her.

Edited because quote boxes are weird.

FTR I am "religious" and I do think it's great if you want to honor you fave bible hero.

Trust me when I say that I would be the last person to pick a name just because it's in the bible. I'm far from being religious in any way whatsoever.
At least when I say I liked the meaning, it was because it means "happy or happiness."
    But cool.

Hey choosing a name for it's meaning is great! It was late when I posted that and I didn't have time to go back and look to make sure it was right. I didn't even mean to quote frankengibbs. I meant where blessedmomma07's says "we like it because it's biblical". "It's a bible name" is not a meaning. If y'all think Asher is a nice name and like the meaning, that's great. It's nms but I had to vent about people having to choose "bible names" because even tho I'm religious it doesn't really make sense

@jnjny we didn't we didn't choose Asher specifically because it is a biblical name. We just like the name. The meaning is perfect. The fact that it is from the bible is just a bonus for us. Also, I don't think that i was rude to magsugar. I was simply pointing out the fact that every time that i come to this board she is always there with a very blunt statement on how she dislikes the name. I wasn't attacking anyone. I'm not sure why you flew off the handle? It doesn't bother me at all that people don't like names that I choose. That just means they won't become super popular and that is great for me. I know that the names I choose aren't some off the wall crazy names that are spelled incorrectly or something so terrible they will hate me for picking it. I think Asher will fit in great with Paige, Chase, Gavin & Eli.
