Besides the fact that circumcision saves lives because it prevents infections and diseases, its also so much better looking. I don't want my son to have the ugly penis that the girls laugh at. We will definitely be making a boy look normal.
I am pretty sure I am having a girl though so its not really an issue.
Why would you choose to make that decision FOR your son? Why not just let him make the choice himself when he's older? But, you'll prob choose to pierce your daughter's ears, too.
Its a much easier procedure when they are babies. And I don't want to have to do extra cleaning when they are little - yuck.
And no I won't pierce my daughters ears when she is a baby. I want to save that for a special moment for the two of us later. Probably her 6th birthday or something.
And this is why I hope my next child is a girl. My son is circumcised, which I regret, simply because he now doesn't have the option of making his own choice on the matter.
I may pierce my girl's ears if I have a daughter, but that's different. If you have pierced ears and later change your mind, you can let the holes close up.

I agree! My honey is circumcised, and I don't want to have to explain to a boy why he is different than his daddy. It will be so much easier if they're the same!
Baby #1 on the way due 10-4-15! Married to my honey since 6-11-11
I circumcised my cat on Christmas. It was my present to him. He gets wayyy more attention now that his little penis is groomed and ready for the ladies.
How can we know anything about you @EZbreezY90 ? All you talk about is your cat. I feel bad for your future LO. You prob won't breastfeed her cause you'll be breastfeeding your fucking cat.
I've never understood the "looks like his father" thing. Umm, if his dad had an arm amputated, would you cut off the baby's too? He definitely won't get skin cancer on that arm that way!
Really though, I think all new moms would do well to really look into circumcision. I'm not in the screaming how it's barbaric club, but it's really not necessary and it's weird how people can just be such sheep when it comes to that kind of thing. Full disclosure, my DH is but is adamantly opposed to doing it to our son should we have one.
Europeans don't really do it anymore, more and more Americans are not doing it either. It's not "icky", just a part of a kid's anatomy that doesn't need to be taken without his permission. By the by, the 'health risks' aren't great, not more than doing the procedure. I mean, you could have your baby's appendix taken out too then it can't rupture, but why would you?
I don't care what any parents do to their child's anatomy, but I do wish people had better reasons than "it's ugly" and "his won't look like his daaaad's!" Those are really silly reasons to cut a baby.

God loves foreskin but when the priests went to molest the altar boys they complained that the foreskin got in the way. Slowly they spread a rumor that foreskins cause you to get STDs when really it was just dirty old men.
Tourmaline15 for the informational link, but I feel like that everyone is entitled to make the decision themselves and there is no wrong decision here. Wish this post was handled a little differently, or named differently. Maybe called - great info on why not to circumcise. Anyway, thank you again for the information... it was much appreciated as I haven't even really thought about why not to.
On those boards those girls linked to in the other thread, someone mentioned that the bump is paying people to participate in the community. I wonder if anyone here is paid?

And that's how circumcision became mainstream.
Really?! This is insane!!!
Oh my gosh! I agree this is crazy! What is the real reason doctors started circumcising boys?
I've always wondered why you would cut off anything from your child to make her/him look better? They are perfect the way They are. If you are doing it to prevent cancer or an infection that is not even there, than how come you don't follow all the way through with how you believe and cut off the breast buds to prevent breast cancer in the future? Nothing against the mothers that choose to do so, we all parent and do what we think is best for our children, I've just never understood why..at least do your research and don't jump on something.

I'm leaving that choice for my boy to make. they cannot give a baby anesthesia, and I'm sure nobody would want their clit cut off without it, especially just for looks..just a thought

Also if getting my clit cut could help prevent the renal damage I have then yes I'd consider it a lot more
Uncircumcised does not require extra cleaning there is no wound, circumsized requires extra care. I just bathe my child. The foreskin doesn't go back until they hit puberty.
Research is for Drs. Or scientists. I'm going to do the best for my baby and what I personally feel is best is getting him circumsized! He will grow up one day and thank me because his junk isn't gross and girls won't be disgusted by his penis!
from personal experience, un circumcised penises look strange and i would hate for my son to be singled out for that reason. snipped dicks look better. his future wife will thank me

*If you have religious reasons for circumscions go for it.
