Hey September moms! I'm dying to know what you are all planning to be the first item you buy for your baby (or babies), or if you have even thought that far ahead! Details welcome

How far along are you, and when do you think you'll start buying this stuff?

I'm 7 weeks tomorrow, and for some reason I keep thinking about crib bedding because I have a specific theme I'm going for. I would love to buy that myself so it will be exactly what I want. Safari animals! I know it's overdone right now but I don't care- they are freaking adorable. I won't buy it until week 14 or so, that way I'll be out of the first trimester.

I'm 7 wks and a STM and I have already started stocking up on diapers and wipes. Everytime I go shopping if they are on sale I buy them. Not really a exciting baby item but a necessary one

I just bought a ton of British wool yarn in the UK so I can make a baby blanket. I'm really determined to be more crafty this pregnancy.

I already have a co-sleeper and a car seat... I didn't exactly buy them, just borrowing them from my sister

I'm waiting to buy anything until AFTER my baby shower (other than yarn for some baby blankets and sacks).

I already bought some newborn covers (we cloth diaper) that were too good of a deal to resist! The diaper/wool stash is my main focus, I used cloth with my first, but I need to double it so I don't have to wash everyday. I don't need much else, just a A&A blanket and coming home outfit. We got everything gender neutral last time, and it's all still good.

Be careful with diapers and wipes! My son was allergic to most major brands so that made it very hard and I had to return a TON! So unless you save your receipt and don't mind taking them back in the event that you have a sensitive baby, buy away but I would stick to the smaller quantity boxes especially in the beginning!

Very true. My daughter has very sensitive skin. Even pampers causes a reaction. I started using all honest company products and they are wonderful. That's why I'm stocking up now, though. Those diapers are a little more pricey than the others.

I had already purchased a few cloth diapers before my first loss. I am holding off on anything else for awhile because having those around for a year was a little tough. They are still at this moment under my feet at my desk, I never opened the box.

I'm really not sure what we will buy first. I'm fortunate enough that I'm using my baby crib (kept it for nearly 24 years now!) and still have both matching dressers. I'm actually going up to my Mom's soon to look through storage since she has the rocker she used for me, and blankets my grandma crocheted for me as a baby. The one thing that comes to mind is buying a car seat first.

I haven't gotten anything yet I wanted to wait til after my first appt which is next week! I'm probably just gonna start picking up diapers and maybe some neutral unisex onsies...my best friend told me to wait on anything big....and if I know her at all she's going to be doing some sneaky shopping behind my back for the next 8 months lol

I bought a onesie (spelling?) to be part of the way I told my fiance that he was going to be a dad. It was all I could do to resist buying full on outfits! Keeping myself away from baby stores till after the first trimester for sure and then after that I'm not sure what my second baby purchase will be!

I am 8 weeks today. We will find out the gender just as soon as it's possible, and that is when we will start getting some essentials. If it's a girl, then we have all the cloths and sleepers we could need from dd, so we would pick up a second hand bassinet as a first major purchase. If it's a boy, then a bunch of sleepers to go with the bassinet will be most likely... If this little bean sticks.

I've actually bought a baby blanket that was on sale. It's the only thing I'm going to buy until at least after the first ultrasound, but I needed to let myself believe it was real since I've had such a hard time with anxiety and detachment.

DH and I saw a screaming deal on a used chariot cougar 1 with the running, skiing, and biking attachments, so we had to get it. It's a $1100 set-up new, and we paid less than $300. I definitely felt weird buying that so early, but we both run, bike, and ski, so this was really perfect for us. I don't plan to buy more until later, but I'm glad we made this purchase, it felt really good to start preparing for the baby. Almost like doing it made the pregnancy more real

Amazon has really good deals on cloth diaper starter kits from fuzzy bunz and such. The elites grow with your baby and work amazingly. I'm using mine again for this baby. The bundle was about $400 for around 12 and I bought a few extras and that's all I've needed! They are the best!

Omg I saw newborn pants while shopping with my DH and asked him why they are selling shorts when it's snowing! Haha I forgot DD was ever that small
