Just trying to figure out what's "normal". C is eating every 3 hours around the clock and drinks anywhere from 2-4 ounces per feeding. We are now strictly formula feeding. What's your LO consuming?
Bottle fed breast milk or formula? In the exclusively pumping thread a few ladies offered up what their Lo's were doing and amyg explained what was recommended- I found it incredibly helpful for breaSt milk amounts. Essentially we don't need to feed same amounts as forumla babies because breast milk changes as baby gets bigger to meet their needs so we should never need to give more than 3 ounces even when they are older....right now my son is one week old and per her instructions he should be doing about 1 ounce to 1.5- and by one month I think she said 2 to 2.5 every 2.5 to three hours but I might be a little off

Interesting. I must have missed what she said. Anyway, I took Liam to the LC yesterday at the birth center to check up on his jaundice and to see roughly how much BM he was taking in per 1 feed. He ate for 5 min on my right side, and he seemed content for a little bit. They checked his weight and he took in 1/2 an oz. I then fed him on my left side for under 10 minutes, until he was milk drunk! We checked weight again, he took in 3 oz. And some extra. Total feed was close to 4 oz. That seemed high for a 4 day old baby, but she said that was great!
My baby is pretty much formula fed with an occasional bottle of breast milk when my body feels like making it. My little guy is a week today and only consumes about 1 oz every 3 hours, but I was told by my ped it should be 2 to 3 oz every 3 hours
"They" say twice to twice and a half the baby's weight in ounces per day.
So if you have a 10 pound baby, you're looking at 20 to 25 ounces per day. We offer breast milk in a bottle and we always offer 3-4 ounces and let him drink until he's done.
i'm going to have to add up DD's totals on the feeding/pumping/diaper log we keep to see if she's falling in this. she still wasn't back up to her birth weight at her last weight check on tuesday and she'll be two weeks tomorrow.

My DD is 2 weeks. She eats 2.25 oz about every 2.5-3 hrs. My pedi is fine with this, as she is just 7 lbs. I was told that roughly the amount fed each day should be weight times 2.5 oz of formula. Thus, a 6 lb baby should eat about 15 oz of formula in a 24 hr period. Every baby is different though!
My LO is 3 weeks old and strictly formula fed. He eats 3-4 ounces every 2-3 hours, but he mostly goes 3 hours in between each feed. His pediatrician basically said, to let him eat as much as he wants. She also said to wake him up for feedings during the day, but let him wake up when he's hungry at night.
