You shouldn't even consider you're pregnant until after you've missed a period; for one. And for two; you seem to not know much of anything about having a baby. So read some books, Google things, and reconsider what you're doing.

OP, it's not about when you had sex last. It's about when you ovulated. Figure that out, and you'll understand better. I suggest signing up at Fertility Friend, investing in a basal body thermometer, charting on Fertility Friend, doing the tutorials, and then you will truly understand how long you need to wait to pee on things. Until then, do not ask such questions.

I've had a BFP as early as 9 days post ovulation. It was faint, but it was definitely there. Some people wait until a missed period, but I've never been able to be that patient. Good luck to you!

Some people are so sad in their lives (even with a career and awesome house, etc.) that they feel better about themselves by making others feel bad. It's generally a defense mechanism so nobody sees through their thin, fake persona.

As for ovulation (the period when your body releases an egg to potentially be fertilized), I've had good luck with ovulation predictor kits...less guess work than BBT charting. I used Wondfo. You can find tons of info on creating a chart, etc. based on your typical cycle length. It might take a few months to figure it out, but the basics are that it helps you determine the best time to BD...good luck!

I get it, you drank the BBT koolaide and now must preach it as the ONLY way to tell if you're ovulating. My husband is a doctor; he advised that the OPKs were the way to go. To each their own. I'm sure BBT works just fine for you.

The bold is wrong. Super wrong. BBT CONFIRMS ovulation. OPK's merely predict it based on LH surges. You can get multiple surges in a cycle. Had I only used OPK's this current cycle I would have missed my FW by a week and a half seeing as I had FIVE positive OPKs over a ten day time frame, the first two of which feel during the time I normally ovulate. I had a longer cycle this time around and after my third surge my BBT CONFIRMED that I ovulated. Had I only used the OPKs I would have figured the first surge was correct, stopped using them, and sat around for a nonexistent TWW that I had completely missed. Do not make up false information.

OPKs tell you BEFORE you ovulate. BBT tells you WHEN you ovulate. Having a heads up makes sense, so you can plan accordingly. Again, I didn't say it worked for everyone, but it worked for me. With BBT charting, even if you get a slight fever from a cold, your results for that month are skewed...hence the guess work.

Ever hear the term practice makes perfect? That's the way it is with temping. I've learned so much about my body through temping that I intend to temp indefinitely, even if I'm not TTC. And a "slight fever" will not skew results. Trust the people on this board who have temped instead of making generalized statements. You're telling us that there is no way we can be fertility experts but who are you to judge?

These women know their stuff and I've had several ladies I work with start temping/charting because of how strongly they have recommended it along with their doctors and books on trying to conceive. As far the OPs post...if you don't know if/when you ovulated than wait to see if you missed your period...

Right, BBT tells you after and OPKs tell you before, but OPKs often lie. I had five positive OPKs over an almost two week time frame. If I was only using those I would be so stressed right now because I would have no idea which positive was the right one or if any of them actually were right since OPKs confirm NOTHING other than the presence of LH, which does not always mean your ovulating. I would also not know when to expect my period because ten days is a huge time frame. Am I 5dpo, or 15dpo? Suddenly it's not so clear. with a window that wide and no way to confirm which day was actually the day you ovulate. You could get ten positive OPKs and still not ovulate and you would have NO idea. You'd think you did, but without BBT, there is no confirmation and your hopes and wishes and symptom spotting and sex mean nothing. Using them along with BBT gives you insight to when you should start bumping uglies, but if you ONLY use OPKs, be ready to not know when or IF you actually ovulated, when to test, when your period is due, etc.

So, refresh me again, which one comes with the guess work?

As a registered nurse I recommend that you wait until your miss your period. Because if you take a pregnancy test before you have missed your period it will come out negative. Same goes for blood test and urine samples.

If she doesn't know when she ovulated then she doesn't know when to expect her period. If she doesn't know when to expect her period, then she doesn't know when she "missed" her period. If she ovulated later than "normal" then nothing has been missed, she just has to wait longer.
For a registered nurse you gave out a really poor recommendation.
