Labor outfit (besides hospital gown)

Re: Labor outfit (besides hospital gown)

  • The first time I think I actually kept a regular bra on under the hospital gown, he was out like 2.5 hours after I got to the hospital so not much time but the funny thing is I don't remember getting anything on me, fluids or blood or anything. I may wear my own nightgown this time & was thinking sports bra for maybe the jacuzzi tub.

With my first I just wore the hospital gown, no bra or panties under. It was easier that way with the monitors, cervix checks, and epidural. Being bra less also was convenient when it came time to attempt breastfeeding.

Once I was able to shower I wore some black pj pants and a sphagetti strap with no bra since i was breastfeeding. I brought some black yoga pants with me for going home but I wasn't comfortable wearing them since they were so tight on my butt and I felt like I was wearing a diaper with that pad so I just went home in my pjs.

I'll just use a gown from the hospital again this time and bring my own pj's. I actually know nursing tanks exist now so I'll buy one of those to wear for my stay in the hospital and some loose fitting sweats for going home. I may be able to get away with wearing shorts home since it's usually pretty warm here toawrds the end of March.

ETA I wore my contacts the whole labor and delivery. I can't remember if they asked if I wore them or not but I kept them in the whole time.

The hospital I am delivering at won't let you labor in your own gown or clothes ..so check into that first I believe someone may have said that already..So check there policy before you purchase.I hate hospital attire most of us do but I would rather ruin there stuff then mine.. I am gonna bring my own clothes for after.I also would like to bring to mind that you might want to bring your own sanitary napkins ..The first time I gave birth they gave me what felt like a mattress to wear lol gross I realize but very true!! I was very uncomfortable I sent my mother to get me sanitary napkins because I could not take the mattress any longer an wanted to be comfortable..
  • My plan is to wear a hospitals gown for almost the entirety of my stay, mainly because I don't want to have nasty clothes to bring home and wash.

I do plan on bringing my own robe and a going home outfit, but that's the extent of that.
