4 whole centimeters?!?!!!! You'll go into labor in 5 minutes and have your LO within the next 24 hours.
But, seriously, we don't know! If you don't then why would we? You should've asked while you were at your doctors. You'll go into labor when your baby is ready. I wish someone could tell me "Hey, you're going to go into labor and have your baby next week on Tuesday." That would be a great help but it just doesn't work like that.
Statistics are all FUBAR! 4 cm's? Hard to say, maybe you should have asked your health care professional while you were at your appointment? Maybe you should call them today and ask their opinion! We aren't professionals here! Dumb questions like this are what made this place go to hell on a freight train! And I refuse to sit here and hold the hands of people who believe that the internet and Google know more than the professionals that spent hundreds of thousands of dollars, and years and years of schooling in this field, about the "STATISTICAL PERCENTAGE PROBABILITY" of being 4cm dilated being parallel with going into labor sometime within the next 48 hours.
Tell you what, IF your water breaks, or IF you start feeling contractions in the next 48 hours, then you'll have your answer. Until then, leave questions like this for the people who have been trained in catching babies! However, nothing is EVER accurate so I doubt they even know the answer to your question, so it's all relative and moot anyway.
... And on this note I think I'm finally leaving the Bump. Just too much stupid these last few days. Enjoy these gems @BumpTara and @BumpMay! You got rid of such thoughtful, kind people who fostered a community so that this person could feel more "comfortable" asking a totally inappropriate question. They're all yours! I'm going to go play with gifs.
Went for my regularly check up and they told me I opened 4 centimeters... :-/

This may seem stupid but I've always wondered so I'm going to ask. @cndupree15 & @usmcwife89 Does it feel different or weird to walk around dilated so far? Y'all are practically halfway there to being a 10. I don't know why but I've always imagined it would feel like a lot more pressure downstairs being dilated like that.

Nope! That is a good question! I wondered the same thing before I knew. When the doctor told me I was so shocked because I literally felt no difference at all! Only thing that has changed is increase in discharge ( sorry gross I know) but the increase seems to be gradual as I dilate more. I'm so glad I don't feel it though

That's not a stupid question at all. I can't tell any changes in that actual region but my hips have hurt more in the past week than they have the rest of pregnancy. But I think that's more the baby getting in to position than my cervix. Other than that.... I haven't been able to tell any difference at all. Unlike @usmcwife89 my discharge hasn't changed at all.
Oh cool @BumpAdmin@Bump Amy @Bump Cait any other freaking bump admins I missed.. You delete my comment completely. Well I'll say it again...
@kellypaige22 we are a community who has been together since the beginning of our pregnancy. We have laughed and cried together and supported each other through these long months. You clearly don't belong. If someone can't handle a stupid answer to their stupid question then they don't belong either!
@BumpAdmin YOU RUINED A GREAT COMMUNITY. Delete my comment again. :-h

So it's admin! Figures. Btw, why don't we have an emoji that is rolling it's eyes?

I had to start wearing an over night pad this past week because of increased discharge. I'm 27wks and going between a 2 and 3. I personally feel lots of pressure and slight cramping, and burning in the cervix area ( not necessarily the whole vagina, just at the back). I think it varies with different women.

@HayleyBug55@Xoxolicia yep!!! They deleted my original comment after that crazy woman posted that. Seems they have also deleted her comment. This place is a wreck. Wonder if it will ever get back to semi-normal..?
So is it a bad idea for me to throw in that I've been completely ready cervix-wise but my dilation has hit a standstill at 2 and kept me from delivering for almost a week now? Dilation takes it's time and you can't do much until it decides it's time. It sucks playing the waiting game these days, but your body knows what it's doing and so does your doctor.
OP, don't freak out yet. If your OB thought you were going to deliver soon then they would have said something to you. Please, for the love of all that is sacred, learn how to ask your doctor for clarification in situations like this. It'll save you, and the rest of us, a lot of frustration and stabbiness. Embrace the fact that your baby is still growing and doing what they need to in order to be healthy at birth.

I've been dilated to a 4 and 80% effaced for 2 1/2 weeks now. I have BH contractions every 5-10 minutes. Nothing is changing! I'm convinced I'll be pregnant forever. All my doctors keep telling me I'll be delivering any day but I never do! Hahaha doctors actually aren't good predictors either!
@kbelly777: I found it while lurking on another birth month board. The chart is quite complex but it puts things into perspective. Of course there are individual factors that may change individual risk factors or statistics (incompetent cervix, history of preterm labor, maternal age, etc) but on a whole the EDD is bases on many, many years of observational data.

Thank you for making TB into a community where questions like this are all that remains on our board.
Seriously, thanks.

I feeling generous: https://spacefem.com/pregnant/due.php?use=EDD&m=02&d=01&y=15 Here is a website that gives that gives the probability you will go into labor on a given day.
