Placenta aging?

Just came back from the doctor and was told my placenta is looking old and need to keep an eye on it. I am scheduled for my csection next Thursday but have to go back on Friday to double check things out again. What signs am I looking for ?? Just keep counting her movements?

I have even having weekly ultrasounds and NST since I was 30 weeks.

I am ready for her to be here. I can't sit here and worry.

Yeah, you are not really able to know what is going on with your placenta. You can, however, just make sure your baby is moving as normal. If you have any reason to suspect things are different or not normal, just give your dr a call. I can say, however, that ultrasounds at the end of pregnancy can be tough because everything is so smooshed and smashed in there that it can be hard to see well and get good measurements etc. THey have always underestimated my babies birth weights by a lot just days before I would deliver. My last baby had an ultrasound the week I delivered and it came back as 5 lbs 4 ou. My dr and I just laughed...I don't have 5 lb babies! She was born at 10 lbs 8 ou. Also, with my 4th I was a week overdue and went in for an ultrasound and nonstress just to make sure that baby was still happy. Well the radiologist in charge of ultrasound that day insisted that my baby had swelling around his brain and fluid under his skin elsewhere. They said most likely my baby would die at birth. The hospital I was suppose to deliver at was just a common hospital and not really equipped for any sort of tramatic event so they refused to deliver me. I was sent to a hospital better equipped an hour and a half away and was immediately induced. I went through labor not knowing what was going to happen. Hours earlier I was having a perfect non eventful pregnancy and then boom. I delivered a perfectly healthy baby. He was, however, 11 lbs and as fat as could be. All that fluid that radiologist saw was actually a bunch of fat! ANyways the point of that long story was to let you know ultrasounds can be so wrong...so don't panic too much about it.

I was told after delivery (1+wks late) that my placenta was looking old, like everyone suggested just trust your intuition and keep track of movement. It's good that you're delivering slightly early, not to freak you out but be aware of blood pressure as well. I had postpartum HBP and was told an aging placenta can release certain chemicals/hormones that cause this type of reaction from our body. Again don't be alarmed, just something to keep an eye it and it's totally treatable..I will be delivering early this time to avoid that complication.
