Same here. I think of it as a girl name. Both are family names (mothers maiden name) and i think its a great choice!

of course it was my maiden name too. But I see it for either boy or girl. Campbell Brown is a female reporter.

I think of the soup too

but I think of it as a boy name initially. But I think it would be a cute name for a girl. It kind of grows on me the more I think of it.

As many others have said, it reminds me of soup. Besides that association, I've never heard of it as a first name. However, I would say from the sound of it, it sounds more like a boy's name. It's part of your heritage so I understand wanting to use it. Go for it!

As far as a baby name, I think of a boy but it could be because my daughter has a little boy name Campbell in her class.
