Re: Friday Randoms

  • SO BUSY.
    My best friend came to visit and we've been going out with Zoe lots and showing her around.
    I'm glad it's Friday and the weekend is here, woohooo!

    I also felt a scratchy throat earlier, ugh. I'm hoping I'm not getting a cold.

  • ...I think my house is quiet. If DS and LO are both napping...maybe I can nap too!!
  • @LaBellaVida‌ good luck! Just think of how amazing your post-baby meal will be! Just a warning - take it easy. I hadn't eaten in 24 hours by the time I had LO and I was dying for pizza.... And I was so excited about it that I scarfed it down and immediately threw it up.

    I've been kind of (really) hormonal today. Just having lots of stress about my job, having a hard time keeping my totally unjustified annoyance with DH under control, wishing my mom lived closer. Wah wah wah.

    I'm binge watching rupaul's drag race to put myself in a better mood. Don't judge me.

    I have a question. Wyatt's eyes, especially one of them, have been all gunky, kind of like when you have a bad cold. But he's not sick. I don't remember my other kids having this. Is anyone else dealing with this? And is there anything that helps other than just cleaning it daily?
    My LO has this too.  It's because their tear ducts are too small to drain and the tears turn into crusties.  You can massage the ducts (either side of he bridge of the nose), keep it clean with warm wet washcloth, and you can also clean the eyes with a drop or two of breast milk. After about a week I am seeing a big improvement!

    ETA: massage every time you breastfeed as a reminder to do it.

    @littlefoote‌
    Is it like clogged tear duct gunky or just regular eye boogers? I've heard a squirt of breast milk works. I can't remember if you are BF or not.
    I think it's a clogged tear duct, because it's seems to be more than just eye boogers. I do breastfeed, so I'll try that and see if it helps! Thanks!
    My little guy is having this problem too. I remember my daughter having it when she was little. I have just been cleaning his eye with a warm washcloth but I may need to try the breast milk thing...
  • We were in our way to our Friday field trip to Costco and my 3 year old projectile vomited in the car. I took him to my husband's office, cleaned him up and the car then out him in one of my husband's t-shirts for the ride home. Half way home it happened again!

    It is so awful watching one of your babies vomit because they have the most pitiful eyes as they try to take a breath as the vomit comes out. Breaks my heart!!

    @littlefoote‌ Breastmilk works wonders for a clogged duct! It clears it up within a few days.

    @SheHulk723‌ happy birthday!

    @LaBellaVida‌ good luck with your induction today!

  • DS1 and DS2 are both napping - yay!

    DH had a work dinner last night, and he brought me home leftovers of filet mignon, creamed corn, kale, and risotto. Yum! They also had little sides of foie gras butter and black truffle butter for dipping. So that was a little fancier than my normal lunch. :smile:

    DS1 just wouldn't stay in his bed for nap today, so I put him in the pack and play after 45 minutes of telling him to get in his bed.

    I don't know our weekend plans, but I'm starting to get stir-crazy, so I'm hoping I can get out of the house some this weekend. Definitely going to the natural food store for some breastfeeding herbs and maybe the pedicure that I never got around to pre-baby.
  • Did we all forget about FFFC or am I just not seeing it?
  • @SheHulk723 - I read back.. Happy Birthday!

  • @mshepherd20‌ hope ds is feeling better! Poor guy

    Well still nowhere with contractions just a dull ache. Managed to get more sleep. Now lying down because I was dripping after peeing and wiping.. Will get up and see if I'm wet. Losing my plug for sure though. What a day!

  • I am alone with both kids for an extended amount of time today for the first time. I tried to convince my five year old that we should all nap which was a huge hassle because she whined and complained about it but finally relented. I had just fallen asleep and she woke me up to cry to me that she wanted play-doh then the baby woke up needing to nurse. I am realizing that Sleep when the baby sleeps is only a thing when you have no other kids
  • WE GOT THE HOUSE!!!!! you might not remember me talking about it because it was 4 freakin' months ago that we put the offer in... but short sales suck, but the price for the location is well worth the wait.  Now, if I don't go into labor tonight, LO has to stay put for a week while we finish inspections...
    @misslizzy82 - yay!!! Congrats!!!

  • I think I've reached a new level of tired. I knew I would be tired but holy.

    My mom was such a huge help this week. I don't know what I would have done if she were not around especially with DS's latch issues. She cooked, cleaned, and even got up in the middle of the night with me when I had to nurse. I wanted to cry when she went home Wednesday night (she only lives across town). DH has been just as awesome. He gets up with me during the night even though he went back to work on Thursday.

    DH's sister had her little girl on Sunday so we have another new niece. She lives out of state so it will be a while before we get to meet our niece. They just got home yesterday because they had to do a c-section. SIL was induced but she wasn't progressing very well. She was disappointed in having the c-section but she and baby are happy and healthy.

  • Finally ventured out and got to use my stroller!!! Took the girls to the North American International Auto Show that they have here every year in Detroit with DH. We grabbed lunch before, and LO slept through everything!

    @SheHulk723‌ - Happy Birthday!
    @LaBellaVida‌ - Hope you have your baby by now and that everything went well!
  • LO is finally starting to latch without the nipple shield, but it's killing my nipples!! I'm hoping they toughen up fast.

    @Christeng87‌ I cannot wait for this moment. Right now the shield is the only option and results in complete leaking all the time sooooooooooooooooo there goes any modesty.
  • @elleswarth was it cool? I can't go this year because I'm afraid I'd end up giving birth in the tunnel.

  • Thank you all for the birthday wishes!

    At our pedi appt today we found out baby girl is down to 6lbs6 from 8 lbs 7. Two whole pounds! I feel like that's sooo much but she eats allll the time and doc said she isn't jaundiced so now we wait for a weight check next week. Time to fatten this baby up! Lol.

  • I know the backache/cramp thing can last for days and I've only been having it steady since 230am but I'm sooo tired and sore, and nothing's settled into a pattern.
    Wahhhhhhhhh.
    Ok, vent over.
  • @misslizzy82‌ congrats! We bought our house via short sale. It was a 5 month up and down process! Totally worth the wait! Exciting times!
  • Anybody know if there is a difference between taking a sitz bath and a real bath? One better than other?
  • @aremac‌ - it was pretty decent, better than the last few years. Still way too crowded for my liking though. Birthing in the tunnel sounds like a nightmare, definitely not worth that!

    I just ate two bags of Crispy M&Ms (loved these things from the earlier 2000s and they brought them back) and I don't feel guilty at all. I'm a week over and haven't gained weight in a month.  Can't get away with that much chocolate eating after baby is here ;)

    Omg I loved those and the pretzel ones, while good aren't the same, how can I convince dh to go to the store since he just got snacks, sigh
  • I just want to rant for a moment... DH can seriously just keep his mouth closed. I am crampy. I am tired. I don't sleep for more than 2 hours at a time (which I am grateful for since once I have an outside baby it will be 10000 times worse). I have motivation to clean but my body does not want to bend over and pick up his socks and underwear that find their way EVERYWHERE. He says being a "homemaker" is like a JOB. NO SHIT. A job meaning, use your work ethics (former retail manager here)! As in, why isn't the house more clean? Why aren't you keeping yourself busy all day? Do I need to remind him that I am 9 months pregnant and am keeping up with as much as I can? Yep. Like it isn't OBVIOUS or something. And then today I have a rough morning and my head starts hurting when we go out to town for lunch and to get a couple groceries, and he tries and brush me off/shut me down when I open my mouth about my symptoms this morning and afternoon. I'm sorry, but he's the one who put me in this position the least he can do is hear me out! And it's exciting for me to be crampy and all this stuff, so who else would I want to talk to about it? Labor is imminent and feeling much closer! But he seems annoyed with this impending notion. I could just bump check him over a cliff right now... Okay not really but GRRR. Rant over. Thank you.
