Got a VM from my crazy SIL yesterday wondering when "my baby is going to be born". I am not a fan of my SIL for many reasons mainly because of lack of acknowledgement / responsibility for her kids mental state as well as hers and both inlaws for enabling her. (Please don't judge, my husband and I are very caring people and we have been trying for years to help, but you can't help people who don't want to be help). I have on several occasions explained to them how I want things to go on delivery day and days following, but from listening to the voicemail, my husband and I both figured that we better call to reiterate our plan of action. It is a good thing I did because my mil was shocked and acted like it was the first time she heard it. I simply stated that when we get admitted and settled at the hospital that we would let them know. When the baby is born we will let them know. We want our teenage step children to meet the LO before anyone else meets him. I specifically said that I do not want anyone...my family included ...waiting around while I am laboring, and certainly not when it is go time. Obviously depending on what time the baby is born we will call to let the grandparents and sisters know when they can come to the hospital for a visit. I then said after we get home and settled, we can schedule a time for my SILS two boys to come and meet the baby. Well....the silence was deafening...then my MILs tone completely changed. She was pissed that her 2 grandsons wouldn't be able to come to the hospital. I told her I am sorry she felt this way, but it is all about me, my baby, my husband and my two step kids. I just can't help but feel that it has fallen on deaf ears. I am so fortunate that my husband is on the same page, and feels the same way I do. We don't want to shut them out of our lives, but we need to be able to control the situation for the safety of our family. Sorry this rant was a bit longer than I anticipated.
No Judgement.  We have a few moms in similar boats.  I hope they maintain the boundries you set and don't overstep!

  • @AlfiesMOM‌ I'm going through the same thing with sciatica. I've been hobbling around like a 95 yo. Second chiro appt today...hoping for some relief. Good luck! I hope it helps you. This is the worst
  • Had such a great morning! Went to the new indoor play place that just opened up - we had the place to ourselves. (AW pics) Got some Wendys for lunch, including the grilled Asiago chicken and vanilla frosty I've been craving, and DS are all his chicken nuggets (so they're not super healthy, it's a win in my books for my kid that never eats meat).
The only thing to make it better is if nap time happens without a tantrum...

Did yours help at all? It sucks so bad!! I am sorry you are going through it also!
  • Just found out my boyfriends cousins are having babies around June ! and they are both girls!!! I wish they didn't live so far away!!
  • I emailed my mom back again yesterday, and just apologized for anything I may have done that hurt her, but just plainly restated why our relationship wasn't healthy, and hasn't ever been, and said again that for us to have a healthy relationship, there would have to be boundaries set and respect. It was exactly what I have been saying all along, except today she wrote back and thanked me for not getting angry and for the email and said it was nice to read my thoughts. I'm not sure even what to write back. But at least she wasn't mean again. But she's done this before, had a "good day" and then sometimes only a day or two later, things get bad again. But I'm hoping for the best, but this will all definitely take time.
    I hope everything works out!!

I love the colors in your nursery! Hope you get to snuggle your little girl in your arms soon!

    @LaBellaVida‌
Good luck with your decision! Just a word of encouragement.... I was induced with #1 and #3, and my second induction went sooo much more smoothly and quickly than the first! If you are induced, I hope yours goes the same way!

  • I went out this morning for the first time on a solo trip with all three kids! It went really well, but I'm completely exhausted now. All we did was go to the play area at the mall, and into one store! DD, who hates her car seat didn't cry at all on the way there (first time ever!), but then screamed for 20 minutes straight on the way home. Apparently, it was exhausting because she immediately pooped and nursed when we got home, has been sleeping ever since.
Wow, I get nervous just going out with the one!  I give you tons of credit for getting out with 3!

I'm still trying to master baby wearing and would love to be able BF while baby is in our moby or peanut shell before going for a big outing.
  • I had a baby! She's beautiful!

Will post more later. It was an interesting morning and I almost had a car baby!

Omg! Can't wait to read your story! Congrats!

  • I'm seriously exhausted, and have had a terrible headache all day. Now I find out I have to go pick up my older 2 from school while toting the younger 2 with me for the first time since dh is going to be later than he thought. Wish me luck! It'd be super easy but they make you park and get out of your car to come get the kindergarteners. Here we go! Just a small taste of what life will be like when dh is traveling and I have to do 100% of all the kid duties for days at a time.
  • I have no hot water today... not sure why, we have propane. LO and mommy both need a shower/bath today. I guess I will wait till DH gets home to see if he can fix it. I think we are officially getting on a schedule (crossing fingers) since it has been 4 days of feeding and sleeping at about the same times each day.

    Edit quote fail..........

It takes practice, but is definitely doable! I've nursed DD in the Moby in public twice this week, and it's great! I did it this morning while walking through a store with all three kids, and it made me feel like Super Mom! Haha
  • Those who nurse in the Moby, how do you manage this? Do you put a cover/blanket over the top?

  • Ha ha, @elleswarth, @babystandish, I had the necklace on from yesterday, and I put on a real shirt because I thought the LC might come today, but she's visiting tomorrow instead. I was pretty proud of myself for managing to get a shower before 11am, but I haven't done my makeup.

@LuckyPenny1231 congrats! I almost had a car baby too, on Christmas :P looking forward to the story.

  • Savvy constantly poops while BF. So funny but also makes the process that much longer.
  • Ugh, my mom just called and told me she was diagnosed with c-diff!  When I asked her how long she has had diarrhea she said "a few weeks".  LO is just shy of 3 weeks old! I am not a germaphobe, but shit, I cant believe she wouldn't have said something BEFORE exposing a pretern newborn!

Ok, crazy FTM moment, should I call my pediatrician to tell them about the exposure?  LO is EBFing and seems to be having normal stools (on average 6 mustard, seedy, liquidy poops a day).

No secrets here, just got lucky. She is 18 days old now.
  • Hello ladies, I feel so behind I haven't participated in randoms in ages, been so lazy to read through the 4+ pages there are by the time I crawl out of bed and make breakfast (you know, earliest 11:30 am PST). Enjoying my sleep while I still can! I am so jealous about so many babies here, how quickly that happened! Where has the time gone?

I am with @happymonkey817 9 months is a very long time. Wow! And to think still possibly another 2 weeks. That period of time has never seemed longer. I made an appointment for a NST/US/prenatal yesterday for next Friday and told the receptionist I hoped she was doing all that work for nothing (finding room when the office has been so busy first month of the year) seeing as I want to meet my baby, not watch her on a screen again! We'll see...

I hate having patients with c-diff. I always worry I'm going to get it no matter how meticulous I am about washing my hands. Just know that the only thing that kills c-diff spores is bleach, but it is spread through stool, which is a little harder to spread versus something that is airborn like the flu. I would be mad she didn't tell you and that she let diarrhea go for that long! But if LO isn't having constantly loose stools, I wouldn't worry. And you'll KNOW something is wrong if you smell c-diff poop. Dear god, it's the worst smell ever.
  • LO has elevated bili so we are at home with a bili blanket aka a uv light wrapped around his tummy. If I wasn't nervous enough about his stump this makes it so much more difficult. At least we just got a huge poop so hopefully he's passing it through his system.
  • @AlfiesMOM‌ Nothing yet. I may try acupuncture as well. Keep me posted! And good luck again.
  • Thanks ladies! Yeah, my mom isn't all there and very frequently lacks common sense. Thanks for the feedback. Trying to not freak out.
  • Congrats @LuckyPenny1231‌ ! Hope you're enjoying your newborn snuggles :)
  • Hi ladies- had a bit of a rough morning- I think my hormones just took over and I started balling bc I felt like my husband and I weren't connecting, I felt like he was stressing wanting to leave and we had the circ today so I needed him to stay here to learn how to change baby etc. anyway after my break down we had a talk and things have done a 360. I just felt like with our dd we connected so much in hospital with her but this time we were both just 'getting through' hospital stay. We've been hanging and watching tv together now all day and it's been really nice.

Jack has lost a lb after pooping 6 times yesterday! And he was looking a bit jaundice today but bc of the circ he hasn't eaten that much today so I'm kinda nervous he won't be at the level they want him to be to discharge tomorrow but there is gonna be a snow storm sat so I want outta here and home before then. Oh well I guess we shall see!
  • Hope you get to go home tomorrow! Glad things with you and your H are better after the talk.
Hospital stays can be rough. It's uncomfortable. Hope your recovering well!
