I'm NOT looking for you to name my baby...promise!

DH and I have not decided on a name for DS2. DH has a front runner, which I like but I'm not ready to commit to. We also have several others we both like but aren't totally sure about. Even though we were team green with DS1, we named him within moments of being born and we've loved it ever since.

I'm starting to think I'm going to be more wishy washy this time around and I'm afraid we are going to be one of those couples who goes days with a nameless newborn.

How did you narrow down your name choices? Anyone else unable to commit to a name at this point?

Our first name, DH has liked for years so that was a no-brainer. The second, he just said out loud one day and it "clicked".. Granted, we don't know yet who will be who until they get here.. But I feel like I'll be one of those "once we see them, we'll know".. And thank you for not asking me to name your baby.

That's how we were with DS...as soon as he was laid across my chest, I just knew what his name was. With him though, we had two possibilities and his name had always been my favorite. This time I don't have a "love it" feeling about any name.

We really struggle naming one kid at a time. I can't imagine naming two. Are your twins same sex? I think that would make it a little harder too.

I thought one of them was never going to get a name, haha. Every idea I brought up, he shot down. They're both girls, and I had a million girl names I loved until it actually came time to name them. All we knew was that since one was going to have DH's initials, we wanted the other to have my middle name... They almost just stayed "BabyA" and "BabyB", possibly "Baby'A" and "Baby'B" just so you know, they'd be different..... ha!

I didn't have a "love it, that's it" feeling last time or this time for that matter. It's hard naming someone you have never met before!! I grew to love my son's name as I got to know him.

Have a list of names I like, but DH and I are on different pages. We really have no idea. Boy names are hard. Don't worry, I also won't ask you to name my child.

We had a hard time agreeing on a name for this baby. In the end my husband picked out the middle name, and I picked out the first. I'm really afraid that I'll meet him and be like "nope, his name is....."

We had a girl name, but no boy name. After we found out that we were having a boy, we made a list of names. We eventually picked a name with family ties that we both liked and then sat with it a while before telling our family.

This LO is our first boy, his name has been picked. It's been our top name each time I was pregnant but we had DD's. My first DD, we had a name picked out prior, when she was born, it was perfect. Our second DD, was harder, we flip flop my whole pregnancy I felt the same, our newborn would go days without a name. At the time of her birth we had narrowed it down to 4 names. Once we saw her, we new which name to choose. There was no doubt in our minds. It suits her perfectly.

We are finding it impossible to come up with first names, we haven't even started on middles names! We are team green (which probably didn't help the name struggle either) so we have decided to narrow it down as best as possible and once we meet the little one...hopefully something just clicks.

But don't worry, I'm not struggling enough that I feel the need to put a "name my baby for me or I will demean your unborn children and husbands" post for you all to enjoy.

Yes I feel this way! DS1 we came up with a name pretty quickly and it stuck...now time for DS2 and we have a name picked we have even shared it with everyone. But I just don't have that same feeling as I did with my firsts name. I think once we see him it will click but def a different feeling then with the first baby!

Boys names are much harder to me. With DS 1 we struggled so I knew when we found out this one was a boy also it was going to be difficult. We still don't have a name picked out.

We have 2 front runners for these girls, and a couple standbys. We agreed we'd probably choose which was which by the time we left. :-)

We had a few front runners before DD1 was born. The moment they lifted her over the curtain, I knew her name.

Our plan is the same this time: Go in with a list of front runners, know your favourites, and then decide when we meet the baby. Idk how I knew the first time, but I just knew. There wasn't any doubt in my mind. And it wasn't the name I thought it would be, but it was a name from our short list.

We had a girl's name picked out that we both loved. We're finding it a bit harder to pick a boy's name. We have 2 that we keep going back and forth with. MN is picked and is staying and both names that we have picked work with that MN but we just can't seem to make a final choice.

We've had several discussions about names over the years and have been set on our top two girls and top two boys names for a while. Since we really like them, we figure we're good for a few years now and don't discuss any other options. I'm a planner (except for some reason I'm totally okay being team green- usually I want to have everything ready very early but on this I'm content to wait), I had to know what names we would use early.

Well... I know it's a girl, but DH did not find out. We have had a boy name picked out since DS was about 3 months old. We have always struggled with girl names. We talked about them during first tri and have a short list narrowed down. However, I have one name that I am pretty set on (Brynn/e). I could be convinced of one other (Sloane) but in my mind, her name is one of those two. I haven't brought up names in a long time because I'm hoping we will just discuss it in the hospital and I will get my way then.

(FTR, I'm not that evil - my H has said he likes both of those names so it's not like I'm trying to force a name on him that he hates

We are totally unable to commit. With DD we knew the middle name and went to the hospital with two potential firsts. After she was born, we decided on my favorite. Maybe I'm as evil as @kread8‌ , but he liked them both and was happy to go along with it after watching me go through labor.

This time we are basing our decision on family names, so Robert will be either FN or MN and the other will begin with an A. Asher, Archer, Arthur, etc. something other than Andrew (ex boyfriend), Anders (first cousin) or Aaron (rhymes with our last name). They all just seem too nerdy or too trendy for my taste. He possibly will be nameless.

We are team green and we just have a list of options. We don't name our kids before we meet them. We figure that we'll know when we see the baby!

We only use names off our family tree so that narrows down the options for us and we figure we can't go wrong no matter what we choose.

Sorry I'm no help, we were the parents who left the hospital with a nameless newborn. We had done most of what others have said, but when we saw DS Dh said one name I said another.
After living with baby and being able to actually call him name A or name B we finally named him on day 9.
For the record having a nameless newborn for a few days wasn't really that bad.... Although it's not recommended.

@kread8‌ where have you been lady?!? I feel like I haven't seen your SN on a post in awhile!

Since you like hearing names the one my DH loves is Levi. It is found on both of our family trees and he likes how it sounds with DS1's name (Lukas). I like it, but can't commit to it at this point!

I can't believe you know what you're having but your H doesn't! I don't know that I wouldn't accidentally slip!

This is pretty much what happened for us too. My H was like "seriously, pick whichever name you like best!"

@lindsayanne14‌ our family was actually okay, it was the hospital who called daily. Apparently they have 10 days to turn in name and record if birth to the SS office and the hospital worker was not happy that she could not turn in her paperwork.

For DS1 we wanted the MN to be the same as DHs so we picked out a first name that went with the MN and loved it! For DD we wanted her MN the same as mine, but struggled forever to find a first name we both liked. After looking at baby name books we finally found one we both loved :-)

I have had names I have always loved but cannot/will not use for various reasons now.
Naming this little boy has been so much harder than I ever thought it would be. Everything I like my husband doesnt and visa versa. Everything we are both "ok" with stay there because they are just ok. At this point I just hope we have options we like before he gets here!

@lindsayanne14‌ I've been trying to lurk/post when I'm at work but between the holidays and being busy at work.. It's been few and far between for me lately!

I love the name Levi!

It was hard not to slip at first but now it's becoming more natural to just keep saying baby. Honestly though, deep down he "knows". He said he's 95% sure it's a girl. I'm not sure why he won't just open the envelope already so we can openly talk about her!
