It definitely is.  I feel like the first few weeks are the worst but then it become routine.  Good luck with the workout plan!

  • @zengal - 80/20 is a way of eating popularized by people on Mark's Daily Apple. Primal is a version of Paleo.

T-Tapp. I used to do this 4-6 times a week. It was great. I never felt better than when I was doing T-Tapp and eating Primal. I went from a size 16 bottoms to a 12 in five weeks by doing T-Tapp every other day (there is a less is more approach).

  • Mostly a lurker here so I hope you don't mind me posting here :)

What plan (if any) are you following? No plan really just trying to eat healthier and portion control. I started PIYO in December but haven't done it the past few weeks.

How did you do last week? Terrible...hopefully will stick to it this week. Hopefully will get back to working out.

What are your goals for this week? Workout at least 4 times

Any Tips or Tricks to share?

    Random thoughts or frustrations?

GTKY: What is your favorite form of exercise? Sex doesn't count. I used to love running but I got out of it and haven't been able to get back into it. I really like PIYO. I just need to stick with it.
  • @aeonlux - I just looked at some youtube videos of the T-Tap workouts.  Looks interesting!  Are there DVDs or something?

@sweetbabyrahe‌ What is your calorie goal? I'm ebf too and I have mine set at 2000 right now.

1930 (I just use their recommended 1430 plus 500 for bf) but I'm not sure if that is too much or too little

  • Great idea! I have 20 lbs to get to my prepregnancy weight, & about 27 lbs to get back to my goal weight, where I felt best & everything in my closet fit. With day care expenses starting next week, we also just started a very tight budget that won't allow us to eat out often (we are usually terrible about this!) so that should help, too! :)

What plan (if any) are you following?
tracking calories using myfitnesspal. I lost & kept off 58 lbs with this in 2011, so I know it works! I try to eat only whole wheat & limit processed foods, but ultimately, the most important thing is staying in my calories.

How did you do last week?
great! It was my first week, & I lost about 5 lbs (mostly water, but that's ok!)

What are your goals for this week?
stay in my calories each day, & work out every day. Hoping to drop 2 lbs this week.

Any Tips or Tricks to share?
find a workout that you like that you will stick with. Download myfitnesspal & try it if you haven't! Drink lots of water.

    Random thoughts or frustrations?
I ate everything in sight & anything I wanted my entire pregnancy & the 6 weeks after (hey, it was the holidays & I couldn't exercise yet, so why not! Lol) & I am paying for it now. I hope I got it all out of my system!

GTKY: What is your favorite form of exercise?  Sex doesn't count.
Zumba! I teach 3 classes per week & try to attend a friend's class 1-2 times per week. It's a blast. The hour flies by & I usually burn 700-1000 calories (per heart rate monitor). I also lift weights. I used to run, but I just don't have time to incorporate that right now with going back to work, baby, etc.

  • @missnacholover‌ Thanks for starting this!

    What plan are you following?
-Watching calories and trying to squeeze in a consistent workout routine.

How did you do last week?
-Pretty good, I lost 2lbs. Need to be better about snacking though! Pringles are not my friend.

What are your goals for the week?
-Eat more fruits & veggies! Also, to aim for 5 good workouts this week.

Any tips or tricks to share?
-I'm not good about drinking water, so I bought one of those fruit infuser bottles. It helps! Lots of yummy concoctions to make.

    Random thoughts or frustrations?
-My belly pooch & love handles are a definite frustration. I'd love any exercise suggestions to help w/ that.

What is your favorite form of exercise?
    -Swimming & power walking outside

@mrsransom‌ I love the 5k idea. I've never done one, but I think it would be a great overall goal for myself.

  • I'm doing Weight Watchers.

I wasn't the best about tracking last week but I lost one pound. I was able to get my wedding ring back on last night so I feel victorious even though I have 30 lbs to lose.

My only tip is to keep junk food out of the house and have lots of healthy, easy to eat snacks on hand.

I feel like I'm constantly busy with LO or pumping so I'm not sure when I will fit exercise into my life once I'm cleared by the doctor.

My favorite exercise is hiking in the woods, followed by walking generally or cycling.

What plan (if any) are you following?
    None really.

How did you do last week?
Ran 3 miles one day, 4 another, and did two 45 minute spin classes.

What are your goals for this week?
Lose pounds! And exercise 5 days. Not looking good so far today.

Any Tips or Tricks to share?

    Random thoughts or frustrations?
My parents have harped on my for my weight since I hit puberty and I'm really tired of it. It was incredibly generous of them to get us a treadmill for Christmas, but I just heard from my sister that they told her that she should push me to work out. She told them to leave me alone. My weight fluctuates but I've almost always worked out!

GTKY: What is your favorite form of exercise?  Sex doesn't count.
Body pump! I also love skiing and was on a race team in New Hampshire before we moved away last summer. And I love spinning. Really I just hate running.

  • What plan (if any) are you following? None at the moment. But I will be going back on weight watchers when I go back to work.

How did you do last week? Lousy. It's difficult for me while at home to eat healthy when DH wants to get take out so much. He knows I'm tired and is trying to help so I don't have to cook. That, plus being sick have equaled some less than stellar food choices

What are your goals for this week? To eat less carbs and more fruits and veggies

Any Tips or Tricks to share? When working, I make a weekly meal plan for dinners, this helps me be less impulsive and allows me to prepare some items ahead of time so it's not so much work (if I'm making onion burgers one night, and know I'm making salmon noodle casserole and stir fry later in the week, I'll chop onions for all three at once)

Also, Walmart sells ziplock type "snack" bags that have portions marker on the outside. From 1/4 cup to 1 cup. I put a weeks worth of snacks (everything from Trailmix, or carrot sticks to cheese doodles or chocolate covered pretzels in these so I can grab a bag, without over eating. It also makes eating healthier less of a hassle.

Random thoughts or frustrations? I want to start walking again but taking two dogs and a stroller is an impossible task and I'm waiting for my new baby wrap to arrive from Amazon. DH has a bad back or I'd ask him to go with us all.

GTKY: What is your favorite form of exercise? I love to dance. Back before I got married, I used to line dance three or four nights a week. I also really loved going to the gym, and plan to start goinga couple days a week once I go back to work. And horseback riding, it's great for the legs and core muscles, but I don't get to ride much anymore.

  • @mander82 I'm on fitbit too, let's be friends and compete :D

@Wildflower810 Lifting weights would be a good way to firm up squishiness and add a few extra (good) muscle pounds.

I haven't started trying with any of this, so I'm just going to say way to go everyone!! =D>

  • What plan (if any) are you following? No real plan yet. I've done very little physical  activity (unless carrying around a 7-9lb baby counts) since LO was born 7 weeks ago, so I'm easing back into exercise. I'm also focusing on eating healthier. DH is an enabler so I have to be very firm with him. No bread pudding for breakfast! This was a fight we had yesterday.

How did you do last week?
Ok, I finally went to a mom and baby yoga class. It was really nice. Went for a few walks, on the beach, around the neighborhood.

What are your goals for this week?
To get moving go walking, jogging do yoga. If that doesn't shed a few lbs after a month  or so I will move to more intensive exercising and rejoin WW.

Any Tips or Tricks to share? Before when I lost 20lbs what helped a lot was having healthy snacks around. Carrot sticks have a satisfying crunch. Nuts are great, in moderation.

Random thoughts or frustrations? I feel pretty patient with this. I just had a baby. I'm ok with this taking a little while.

GTKY: What is your favorite form of exercise?
I used to do an outdoor bootcamp that I loved. But we've moved to a different city. Now, yoga is my favorite. It doesn't burn a ton of calories but it definitely helps my state of mind.

  • What plan, if any, are you following? I don't have a lot of time on my hands, so I'm doing a 30 day squat challenge and im adding in stretching and planks.

How did you do last week? Just started today!

Goals for this week: eat healthier and drink more water.

Any tips or tricks: none. I've never really had to workout or watch what I eat. I'm open for advice!

    Frustration: I hate my body

Form of exercise: I use to work at a gym and I got trained for free. I only did it a few times, but I loved having a personal trainer.

  • @kfo22   Not sure how to become friends on fitbit.   It looks like we can either invite each other with our email addresses,  or we could start a group and then join it.  From my app, I found the invite friends thing,  and on the website I found the groups you can join.    I am not even getting 5000 steps per day.....so I don't know what good I could do you.   lol.....my desk job is not helping me any.    I am having trouble getting mine to sync too.   I can't download the fitbit program to my work computer and it keeps failing to sync with the app.     I think I need to restart my fitbit,  but I don't know how.    I have the Charge HR one.   Just got it for Christmas, so I am a noob with it.    There is a group on fitbits website for post pregnancy weight loss.    Maybe I will join that.

If you want to be friends,  I can PM you my email address.   :)

@smboswell1  I lol'd at your "I hate my body" comment.....sorry,  I am not laughing at you, but I totally feel that way about myself right now.     I think about MILFs,  and I wonder how in the fuck am I going to get to that point ?

  • What plan (if any) are you following? - I'm back to logging calories and fitness minutes on SparkPeople.com - I'm shuffman126 over there if anyone wants to friend me.

How did you do last week? - Horrible, I am starting this week.

What are your goals for this week? Exercise every day, even if it's only 10-20 minutes, track calories. Stop eating ALL. OF. THE. THINGS.

Any Tips or Tricks to share? I lost 25 lbs with Sparkpeople a few years ago, I think it's a really good site and I recommend it.

Random thoughts or frustrations? Today is my first day of food tracking.  So. Hard. Not. To. Snack!

GTKY: What is your favorite form of exercise?  - I love any kind of dance fitness - I am a certified Zumba instructor, and I also go to the Hip Hop class at my gym.

  • @smboswell1 I am so jealous that you've never had to watch what you eat! I feel like I look around me and everyone I know is just naturally thin--it kills me! I've had to watch my weight like a hawk since 9th grade and I just think about how much easier life must be if you can eat what you want. Not eating much takes a lot of energy!

What's that movie where Julia Roberts' character tries to claim she should get the last piece of pie (or whatever) because she's been hungry for ten years? That's how I feel =).

  • I'm bad and didn't check in last week, but I do want to be part of the group! I'll try catching up :)

What plan (if any) are you following?
Planning on using the Mayo Clinic plan.

How did you do last week?
Very very poorly. It was my birthday and I ate ALL THE CAKE AND ICE CREAM. But I did go on a couple walks, which is better than most weeks.

What are your goals for this week?
Get outside at least every other day, and start decreasing sugar intake (I know from past experience that going cold turkey just results in a binge!)

Any Tips or Tricks to share?
I have used the myfitnesspal to track calories in the past, it really helps me with correct portion size!

    Random thoughts or frustrations?
I like eating. And watching TV. This is going to be difficult. But I also want to be healthy for LO and would like to develop better habits to pass on to LO. Really hoping that will be sufficient motivation.

GTKY: What is your favorite form of exercise? Sex doesn't count.

I love yoga and walking--my knees are all kinds of messed up, so no high impact for me! Randomly, I took a "rebound" class years ago where we each had individual trampolines and it was AWESOME. I wish I could find another. I also really like snowshoeing, even though I've only done it once.
  • budzer said:

OK so I cracked and weighed myself. After two weeks of eating well and even doing walks. I lost nothing. Not one pound. Pregnancy weight gain is a different animal than anything else I have done before. :(

Ugh, that sucks! Nothing so frustrating as working hard with no results :( I do know that I tend to plateau easily, then all of a sudden a few pounds will come off, then another few weeks with nothing. It's maddening but hang in there!
  • I'm joining in!

Plan I'm following: I will be weight training 3x's per week and adding cardio in 2x's per week.

How did you do last week: Awful! Instead of losing weight, I gained 2 pounds. I've been lax since my baby was born so it's time to buckle down.

Goals this week: lose the 2 pounds I gained last week! Also, make sure I'm drinking enough water. I'm awful about this during the Winter months.

Tips or tricks: Find what you love(or can at least stand) as far as exercise and do that! You won't stick with something you hate!

Random thoughts: I hate being on a "diet". I really love food and want to eat all the things! Also, how is it that I have a super metabolism during pregnancy(only gained 23 pounds while eating whatever I wanted) but post pregnancy, the pounds want to hang on for dear life.
