Baby Shower? Cold Weather Outfit?

Has anybody had their shower yet? I think mine is soon; I have no idea! I haven't asked when it is yet, haven't decided if I want to be surprised or not. I might be able to figure it out on my own.

Just wondering what you all in the cold weather areas are wearing or have worn? Anybody have pictures to share?
I'm thinking of wearing a long sleeve maxi dress but I'm not sure how to accessorize it.

TIA!

  • How do you not know when your shower is? And a maxi dress sounds fine.

  • Never heard of being surprised about when your shower is. That's a new one.
  • Mine was last month due to a move out of state. I tried on several maternity sweater dresses and never found one that I liked. I kept panicking feeling like I had to find the perfect dress. I finally settled for a long sleeved blue and black top and black leggings, with black boots. My feet had started swelling so bad by then that boots 1.5 sizes too big were all that I could fit in. In the end I was perfectly comfortable all day and completely forgot about my previous desire for a dress. I say to just find an outfit that you feel good in. Everyone will think you look amazing no matter what!
  • I had a shower today. I had a really hard time deciding what to wear too.

I wore a 3/4 length sweatshirt type dress from jcrew (not maternity), maternity leggings, and TOMS wedges.

  • I bought a red midi dress with 3/4 sleeve from asos maternity. Fits great and wasn't too bad price-wise!
  • Everyone I know tries to throw showers to be a surprise, it usually doesn't end up happening though. I assume she means if you live someplace warm you could wear a pretty summery dress, but that won't work in colder places even if you are obviously going inside. I wore grey dress pants, a pretty purple camisole thing & a white sweater to my shower when I had my son. It was February in New England.
  • I had a surprise shower my last pregnancy. I think if something is planned, it will be done after this baby is born. I do love the idea of it being a surprise though!!!
Wear whatever makes you feel good. If it's a dress, just add leggings or a cardigan if your worried about being cold.
  • Because her friends or family members may want to surprise her. I have zero information about when or where mine will be. Every time I attempt to ask someone I get told not to worry about it. So I can only assume that I'm going to be surprised.
  • I wore a sleeveless dress with maternity tights and a cardigan. It worked out great when it was a million degrees inside and I wanted to take the cardigan off. And I wore a Jean dress with 3/4 length sleeves and tights and boots to my last one. I have one more next weekend and I'll wear another dress/tights combo. And I live in northern New England. I understand needing to wear tights but otherwise you can wear whatever you'd like and just accessories and dress in layers.

If you need maternity tights in highly recommend old navy!

This looks fantastic and what I'm looking for. I don't want anything that makes me look too big or hides my bump. Can't find a sweater dress I like.
  • I don't understand asking strangers who don't even know what you look like about what you should wear. I like purple, but for all I know you look hideous in purple. I hate skirts, but maybe you don't. Wth does my opinion have to do with how you dress yourself?

  • My shower is a surprise so I'll be lucky if I remember to wear underwear that day

  • I wore a long sleeved dress and stockings. I was wearing a warm jacket and was dropped right to the door, so I was fine with the snow outside. I even wore heels, which probably wasn't the best idea!!
