First Splurges Post-Baby

Maybe it's the almost half-way mark that got me thinking, but what are you most looking forward to indulging in after baby (that you can't right now)?

1. Since I can't decide between red or white I think I'll have a glass of each, simultaneously, probably until both bottles are gone. The red will be a trusty Merlot, and the white will be a crisp Sauvignon Blanc. Neither will be cheap.

2. A bathtub sized cup of Dark Magic coffee, with tons Splenda and artificial french vanilla creamer. Tell me how bad it is for me, as I slowly sip on sweet chemical deliciousness. 

3. A generous piece of Salmon that might still be flipping around on the plate because it wasn't cooked to death, literally. 

4. The hottest, longest shower. I don't care if it's summer, I need to make up for lost time.

5. An exercise class that isn't walking on a treadmill.

Also related: skipping vitamins and not caring, not checking the ingredients for every I eat.

What about you ladies? Let's dream for a bit, shall we?

  • Ps- am I missing something OP? Why are you not taking hot showers? I know you're not supposed to sit in hot tubs but I've never heard anything about showers.

    I agree with the excercise class. But my main thing post baby, Is getting a back massage, A hot stone massage to be specific. & my hair done cut and dyed! I cannot wait!

  • I think I might try sushi. Nothing like being told you can't have something to make you want to test it out.

    After my first was born and I laid on my stomach I couldn't believe how amazing it felt! Just make sure your nursing pads are on ;)
  • I can agree with a lot of these things but I don't get why you are all saying hot showers and baths! They are still ok to take! You know your body the best obviously if you feel overheated turn the water down or drain the tub and get out!
  • Hot showers would only be if they were crazy hot or really really long I would think.
  • Lots of raw fish, taramasalata, and Captain Morgan!

  • For all the ladies looking forward to a hot bath I recommend adding Epsom salts. It helped my recovery from labor with my first kiddo and felt so great!

    My tolerance level for heat is so ridiculously low right now, I have to take lukewarm showers. Otherwise, I end up dizzy and puking :/

  • I'm sorry ladies, I didn't clarify that I'm basically freezing all the time and the showers I like to take border on scalding for most people.
  • Sleeping on my stomach, a giant fish-bowl sized maragarona (margarita with a corona), a turkey sub and a Cesar salad.
  • Hot tub, bloody Mary's with Bleu cheese stuffed olives, stoli razz with tonic & lime, a bottle of my favorite red wine, & sushi - lots of raw delicious sushi & sashimi.
  • I cannot wait to consume sushi, raw oysters, steak tartare, rare beef, foie gras and sangria. Soaking in a scalding hot tub, hot stone massage and spontaneous sexy time without worrying about LO (sex during pregnancy is safe I know, still makes me nervous) are also on the top of my list.
  • Definitely red wine, spicy margaritas, mimosas, so much sushi, and sleeping on my stomach.

  • A giant cold cut combo from subway: I would actually kill for that.
  • Various types of cheese (soft cheeses), a bottle of Pinot Noir, and some hot tub time! =)

  • Sushi. My birthday is 8 days after my due date so I already told my hubby that's what I want to eat.
  • A beer.

    And not food related, I'm slightly excited at the fact we are not currently invited to any weddings yet this year. When DS was born we took him to 4 weddings before he was 4 months old and as fine as it all worked out, there's something about an open slate all summer (H is a school vice principal so isn't at work, just works from home, in the summer!) to just have new baby and hangout time as we please!

  • I'm looking forward to eating lunch meat the most! I ate tons of it before getting pregnant. I breastfeed, so I choose not to drink even though a little is safe. I've never been a drinker though, so it's not a huge thing for me. With ds, I couldn't sleep on my stomach because my boobs hurt so bad. So when I get to do that again it'll be amazing!

  • Energy drinks, sour green apple vodka an 8 shot Starbucks latte, and going somewhere where people (insert random strangers here) dont try to touch my belly every 5 seconds.
  • Just give me sushi, wrapped in lunch meat, dipped in whiskey and Caesar dressing and I'll be happy :)
  • Vietnamese iced coffee strong. And the Viet style cold pork roll complete with the pate and homemade fatty mayonnaise. .gimme two or three!!:

  • I still take hot showers and go to Zumba, but I can't wait for hot baths (and hot tubs!) and running. For some reason my body can tolerate dancing right now, but running (which I used to do and enjoy a lot) gets me overheated and out of breath. I will also enjoy not having to worry about everything giving me food poisoning.

  • An entire tray of sushi, champagne, wine, summer beers, blue cheese crumbles on everything, sleeping on my stomach, hot tubs, walking up steps and not getting winded and heavy weight lifting! And having lattes with 2-3 shots of espresso - still drinking them now but with 1 shot instead :)
  • A dirty martini, hot tub, and sushi/sashimi.

  • Rockhounding! Which usually involves 100 lbs on my back hiking in the woods and cliffs...get me back to nature!
  • I agree with cold cut combo from Subway.
  • Sushi. Already have my mom set up to come with us to my favorite place so she can hold LO and I can devour the best sushi in California. And a glass of wine from the case we got as a wedding present. It arrived the day I found out I was pregnant and DH isn't allowed to touch until I can join!
