I'll probably just wait a couple of weeks for sweets. I'm a Girl Scout leader and my troop just ordered 6k boxes of cookies to sell....effin shoot me now.

I used to be a Girl Guide! Miss those cookies. They were so good.
Those pods look amazing and I must have some. I don't understand why they don't sell them in America. I have a friend who works for Mars, I am going to get on his case. He does something with renewable energy, but maybe he can hook me up with some.
I had the same question. Because I read about people's first scan being wrong as well. So I can't answer but I can say it isn't a dumb question or stupid to ask. The response mad me sick, everyone responding should be ashamed of themselves for being cruel and honestly I'm horrified you are all going to raise the next generation to mock and torment someone for asking s question. If you think it's such a stupid one don't respond, obviously you have nothing better to do then spend your time trying to make others feel low. You have truly acted like immature children. Good luck to you all.

Cruel? Mock and torment? Pretty strong words for a bit of snark. Do you feel sorry for our husbands too?
Thank you:) Just ignore them, they are like a bunch of school girls. I'll be waiting for them to attack you next(hopefully they won't). We are officially special snowflakes to them lol What ever, just read all the immature comments and enjoy! Im giving them the benefit of doubt and blaming hormones. They have no line, I've sat here and watched a Girl Scout leader use the r-word and friends jump in to laugh about it. Now 3..2...1... Let the lovely comments begin

Is 18 weeks too soon to fond out gender? I've been seeing a lot of post about people being told girl and later boy. Does it look like my baby potty can change to boy parts? Sorry I'm a FTM and worried because I've already told everyone I'm having a girl. Thank you
Ok @babyJ614, no snark here - I would really like you to answer a few questions. 1. Can you honestly say that you thought we could look at an ultrasound picture and tell you if your "baby potty parts can change to boy parts"? 2. Do you think we are qualified to look at ultrasound pictures? 3. Do you think girl "potty parts can change to boy parts"? I'm really not being snarky. I'm just trying to understand if your questions were real?

Honest responses saying that we are not doctors made you sick?
I suggest you talk to your doctor for having such a physical reaction to straight forward honesty. Good luck to you.
Don't ask ridiculous questions that we can't answer. We are not trained professionals. As most responded with"ask your doctor." I fail to see how that is not answering the question. I think our children will be fine, and will know where to find the proper answer to any question.
I had the bump when I was ttc, an I deleted it because the comments were soooooo bad! So to answer your question, it's very common to find out at 18 weeks the sex of your baby! I actually found out at 14 weeks due to so many ultrasounds. an I'm now 17 weeks. We will obviously check again at 19 weeks for anatomy scan! But my doctor as well as the tech are confidant it's a girl. Good luck

This is a good point would you rather me tell you that I am a dr because I did actually give one of my chickens surgery last week. It had a nasty bumblefoot. A bumblefoot will kill a chicken...a terrible slow painful death.
So my dr knowledge here tells me...read a book! For once in your life please op.

Oh really? You're horrified that a bunch of women with enough common sense to take these questions to a DOCTOR are going to raise the next generation? At least our children won't be idiots.
I'm horrified that OP thinks her baby is suddenly going to grow a penis and that she's going to the interwebz for medical advice.
Why the hell would anyone be on the interwebz that early in the damn morning? I'm only up at those odd hours if I need to pee.
@blue7fairy and @babyJ614, you were given the best advice internet strangers should ever off when it comes to looking at ultrasounds...please talk to your doctor. They're the ones that get paid the big bucks, for obvious reasons. They got a damn degree in this shit! I also like how we're all rude for giving you the best possible answer to a fucking stupid question...I mean really?? You want a business management major, a teacher etc telling you the sex of your child?
@babyJ614 and @blue7fairy - I'm not sure how you two don't see why these are silly questions to ask Bumpies, but let me explain:
Question 1 was whether or not 18 weeks was "too soon" to find out baby's sex. I assume OP was told that she was having a girl at her Anatomy Scan - which is generally scheduled between 18 and 22 weeks. The sole purpose of the Anatomy Scan is to view and measure baby's major organs (to make sure the heart has 4 chambers, check for 2 kidneys, see if the bladder is functioning properly, etc). At this scan, the ultrasound tech can also determine baby's sex (assuming no positioning issues). Your question is silly because your doctor wouldn't schedule you for the scan if they weren't confident that that major organs were developed enough to be measured and evaluated AND your u/s technician isn't going to weigh in and tell you a sex (without hedging with a certainty qualifier such as "I'm PRETTY sure....") unless they are confident in their appraisal. Is it fool proof? Of course not - but it's the best guess you're going to get because they, UNLIKE us, are trained to view and evaluate ultrasounds. All of the above is common knowledge and basic logic, making your question silly.
Question 2 was whether or not sex organs can switch from one sex to another. The answer is a resounding "no", which makes sense if you have a basic understanding of how babies are made. It's pretty common to know that men have an X and a Y chromosome while women have two X chromosomes. Also basic biology is that Mom's egg has an X chromosome (because she has no Y option), while Dad's sperm is either X or Y. If sperm Y wins the race, you end up with a baby boy - if sperm X wins the race, you end up with a baby girl. All of this should have been covered in high school biology. Since sex is determined at conception, which you sort of should already know, your question at whether it can change in week 18 is silly.
I hope you can recognize that your questions were a bit silly and then be able to laugh at yourself a bit - it will make PP responses seem a lot less harsh and allow you to giggle with them, as you should.
I wish if posters were really hoping for a specific answer they would fess up about it upfront... Like, please tell me yes, I want a boy. It would be more honest and less ignorant.

Why don't you go start your own brand new thread about how sick you feel and whether or not that's normal in pregnancy? That's a totally unique situation, and we've never had one of those around here.
The only way to be 100% positive is in the delivery room. I had a blood test and an ultrasound that said girl, but my doctor scheduled another ultrasound for more detail. So it honestly could still change. So what if you told everyone it was a girl? No one will be mad if they find out it is actually a boy. Try not to stress about it.

*****The sex cannot change!!! The U/S techs OPINION may change depending on what he/she can see, but the sex of your baby is determined at conception.
Reading these comments on here are sickening. We are all adults and some of us don't have time to read every thread on here. Don't like a question? I have a suggestion: DON'T RESPOND! IGNORE THE THREAD! It's not like we asked to join this group, being due in June we were all put in here. Being a mature adult I can tell what she means by this question.
And to answer- 18 weeks is not too early to tell. If technician told you then your pretty safe with that. With my first I was told at 18 weeks and they were correct! There is probably always that slight chance but I think it's safe to bet it's a girl!

While you are a part of the J15 board, congrats! You can choose whether to participate in our discussions or not. You can also choose to use the the trimester boards if you feel like we didn't give adequate enough responses. Have a happy pregnancy!
