I'm I the only one that hasn't bought any baby purchases???

I'm 5 months and I have nothing for my baby boy. Not even one thing. I'm starting to stress out thinking time will go by so quick and we are not even close to being ready for our baby's arrival...

I haven't either. I'll be moving shortly after babe is born so I'm buying all the big furniture type things in June. Saving all my extra money until then.

Eta: granted I'm also a STM so I'm a little more lax than usual. With my first I had every little thing. This time around I'm more aware of what's actually needed and what isn't

  • I haven't bought much yet, this is my second girl but my first is almost 14 so I will need a bunch of girl stuff.

  • Nope... I have not purchased anything and I am 24 weeks
  • This is my third. My oldest is 10 and my youngest is going to be 8 so I'm starting all over again. Need everything...
  • Any recommendations on best stores to purchase baby stuff?
  • We have the crib set up since it was a hand me down from my BFF but that's about it.  My shower is end of Feb so we won't be buying much before then.

Register at target, amazon, and kohls. Only use one for your shower so you don't get duplicates. Then, once you have all your gifts, all 4 places send you 10-15% registry completion coupons and a bunch of other coupons. Stack those and compare and contrast and buy what you still need from the cheapest source. Also, when you register, say you are due two weeks before you're actually due. You'll get the completion discounts earlier and have more time to shop.
  • Also, I have't purchased anything. I'm a third time mom and I'll have there under three (I don't want to talk about it.) But I did stay up late Saturday and register for the few items I want/need. I always buy a years supply of shampoo, butt cream, and wipes with my completion coupons. Yay for a happening Saturday night!

Also- with target your completion coupon works for anything in the store or online that is on your registry the day before you shop. So I buy lots odds and ends with it. Amazon limits you to certain items that are baby related only.
  • @manacita‌ Thanks for the advice. I'm so busy that I feel I won't have enough time and feel lost since I haven't shopped in the baby department for years now.
  • I haven't purchased anything and I'm 24 weeks. Figure I'll get stuff at my shower in February then go from there. But do need to get furniture picked out and purchased .
  • I too haven't purchased anything for baby. This will be my 2nd pregnancy...I have an idea of what I want to zero in this time around. Though you can't go wrong with basics...diapers, wipes, lotion, laundry detergent, etc.

Third time mom here... Need lots of things because it's been awhile, just today I ordered boy crib sheets from pottery barn. I ordered the baby bargains book and the confirmation email went to my husband - he forwarded it and said "guess you are getting ready!"

I only have a few items of clothing. No rush here though. I know babies don't need much at first and I don't need a bunch of stuff cluttering up my space for the next five months

Same and sometimes I panic but yes to not wanting a bunch of stuff cluttering space, I'll have to remind myself of that when I start to freak

  • Same here. 21 weeks. This is my first but the third in our blended family. It's mostly because I've learned you don't need EVERYTHING. That and I can't pick out a crib to save my life. I do have some things on standby that I'm inheriting from some other moms at work though...does that count? Lol. Hopefully nesting will set in before too long...

  • I haven't bought a single thing yet either. Unless you count replacement hardware for my crib. My kids are 11 and 5, so I need quite a few things yet. I figure I have the basics covered - like a crib, carseat, stroller and my daughter's baby clothes (this one is a girl too) so I'm not overly anxious about getting the rest. Even though I'm not having a shower I am going to sign up for some registries to get the completion coupons at the end - that's good advice!

  • I had a loss in the past so I'm afraid top jump the gun and buy anything. This week I'm twenty two weeks but it's also the anniversary of losing my baby at 21 weeks, so, I'm all kinds of screwed up emotionally. I started a registry online which was a big deal for me and after our ultra sound tomorrow I might celebrate by buying something.

  • PP I'm sorry for your previous lost. I can see how buying things for this pregnancy would be emotional. @jessicamaister‌

OP you aren't the only one. I haven't bought anything at all. This past week I sort of started having anxiety about it. But we are moving before the baby gets here and DH really doesn't want to have to pack up extra. Which I understand but I don't like waiting so close to the end of my pregnancy. I am a planner bit find it hard for me to plan around this situation to accommodate DH :(
  • I haven't bought anything either however I got a few things at Christmas from family members

hehe...  I purposely did NOT register before Christmas. This was the last Christmas before baby, and I still wanted presents for ME. lol.

I think it's normal to not have anything for baby yet. I've registered, because it's better to do that when you still have energy and moving around is easier. But wait until after your shower to buy anything else you may need. And your shower won't be until after 30 weeks at least.

I doubt that anyone has bought me anything yet...  my situation is so touch-and-go at the moment that I wouldn't buy anything for me yet either! I'm okay with that, though. I'm a realist, at least, if also hopeful for a good outcome. We won't even have the baby's room painted until mid-february!

  • I have almost nothing, we received a few onesies with funny sayings for Christmas and a city select stroller from my parents but other than that I have nothing... Though I did empty out the room and closet that will become the baby's room so I feel slightly better about having a place to put stuff once I do get it.
Two people are throwing showers in March so I plan to at least wait until those are over, then I will get my rear in gear and go to town with prep
  • nothing! 2nd baby boy.... so I have a few things but i haven't even done inventory!
  • We haven't even began to purchase things yet. We did make a registry but honestly that is for the discount on items:). Your definitely not alone.
