Just have to share a breastfeeding accomplishment! DD nursed all day today without the nipple shield for the first time ever.
We've been using the shield since she started nursing (a few weeks old due to tongue tie issues/jaundice). She's occasionally tried nursing without it but always ended up in a screaming fit. Around Christmas she started pulling the shield off with her hand and nursing without it for some nursing sessions.
Anyways...I'm hopeful we'll have more and more days without it.
Ok wtf is up with DD using my boobs like a lollipop?? She makes the smacking noises and all. It doesn't hurt per se but it sure is annoying. I feel like I read about someone else having this issue but I can't remember who. Either way I hope it stops soon.
Ladies who successfully tried lactation cookies - how long did it take for them to work? How many did you eat? My brewer's yeast arrives in the mail today and I am definitely making them tonight. I've done two pumping sessions so far today and unless I put up really solid numbers this afternoon, I'm going to have to go into the freezer for tomorrow's bottles. SO FRUSTRATING. LO sleeps through the night so when I wake up I am really full - she eats twice before daycare, then I pump at 9, 12 and 3, and then an evening session if need be. The later in the day, the lower my supply. So I guess I should eat the cookies in the morning?
I ate like 10 cookies after I made them because they were so good and I noticed a change the next day. I woke up feeling more full. But it probably depends on the person and how many you eat at one time.
ETA: I also just ate them throughout the day, not at a specific time.
My boobs got jealous that I bought formula and decided to start producing more when I pump. Of course I pumped a 3oz bottle to leave for LO when I went to class and he only ate 1/2 an oz in the 4.5 hours I was gone so all my hard work went down the drain.
