Didn't think I should start a new craft thread but I need help! Anyone with experience with mod podge and sealing it. The project we did was taking children's book pages and covering the door. I have an issue with the pages bubbling after I put the sealer on. I know it's too late for the back of he door but any suggestions for the front? Any experience with the liquid vs spray? Pic for those interested. image

Did you use a rubber brayer?

    Eta- this is super cute!

Did you use something (roller, credit card, whatever) to smooth the pages out after applying them?  Were you sure that the modpodge was dry before you put the sealing coat on?  Just guessing here.  I've never had that particular problem, but I've also never attempted a project quite so big.  Maybe if you worked in smaller areas and then applied the sealer all at once after everything was bone dry?

I'm working on something like this, but in oranges, teals and grays
I did this over my DD1's crib/now bed. I love it still!

  • The room is finally painted so I'm finally getting started on some crafts. Tonight I'm painting all of the letters of the alphabet and depending on drying time, will start modge-podging some scrapbook paper on them to hang above the bookshelf similar to this.

  • Thanks for the quick responses! We used a squeegee. Some of the pages had bubbles originally just because some were pretty thin so I expected that but it's so inconsistent. On what's bubbling and what's not. It's weird. And yeah it was completely dry. It had set over night. The front of the door had been sitting for a couple days so hopefully that won't be an issue. The back of the door was basically the trial and error side. Because how often am I going to see it? It's still cute but I'd prefer fewer bubbles. Lol. I've done really small projects and not had this problem but it's been years since I've played with it. I also tried to go page by page when sealing. I guess it may just end up with a lot if personality. Lol

Also thanks for the compliment. :)

Whenever I use mod podge I end up really messy because I usually resort to using my finger to smooth out bumps. It helps. Also, try working in smaller sections. It'll take a lot more time, but it could possibly help reduce the bubbling.

For some reason I can't post pics but I've made my LO name boards out of ceiling tiles. I've always done them other people's nurseries and now I'm finally able to do it for my own! I also started on some pom poms to hang in her nursery as well.

The tissue paper pom poms? Fair warning, they get dusty quick! So careful about hanging above a crib because it seems to rain dust down. :-(
