I work in pediatric SLP- home health, and I get paid per visit. I've saved up enough to cover my bills while on unpaid maternity leave. My due date is April 8th, and I plan to complete 9/9 visits for each patient until the end of march. I'm a FTM and expect that the baby can come a week before or after expected due date. I qualify for FMLA, and I can get 12 weeks off unpaid maternity leave. I plan to use short term disability leave, remaining PTO and return to work mid-june. Baby will begin Day Care as soon as I go back to work. DH works in oil field in texas, and does not qualify for paternity leave. He works 3 weeks on and one off, so he plans to take off for a week when I have the baby, but after that I'm on my own until he comes to visit. I'm nervous about how it will all work out because I don't have much family in the area, and I will be caring for the baby on my own most of the time.
@picklesx not sure if your company is based out of state based on your comment, but that does make a difference. My company is NYC based so even though I live in NJ I can't get the NJ benefits. That's the state's rule, not my individual company's. However, I am eligible for NY benefits which it think is only if only a few other states that offer it, but the pay out is waaaay less than NJ. Good luck!
I work at a bar also, but my restaurant has found room for me in the upstairs offices to do spreadsheet/accounting/computer work once my belly will be officially too big to function behind the bar, so probably by the end of this month. I've told them I'll give them a heads up once I start knocking over more than one or two bottles a night with my belly/butt. After I'm upstairs, if I get the ok from my doc next week, I'm planning on working up til due date and only taking about 6 weeks off, because my leave will be unpaid.
I am a house cleaning.. and planning to work 4 more weeks... I am in a lot of pain because of my cerclage!!! AND I didn't really think of how long I will take after birth.... >-
I plan to leave work on the 20th of feb I'm due 20th of April and I plan to have the full 39 weeks of that I'm intited to I don't see that as wrong as I get paid pence any way and am on my feet working late nights and then early mornings straight after am looking forward to the break before little one arrives gives me time to get all the extra sleep that will miss out on once there here x
I plan on working until I go into labor. I work at a TV station as a newscast director and people joke about my water breaking as I direct the show. I joked with them that I'd wait until commercial break before I had someone transport me in one of our news vehicles, haha! I have accrued about 8 weeks paid time off and they give 1 week paid "maternity leave". I could take up to 12 weeks but I'm only really comfortable taking one week unpaid. So total, I'll be taking 10 weeks. Hopefully that's enough. I'm ok with it.
I'm a teacher and plan to work as long as I can. My due date is April 25th so I'm hoping my little man will stay in there until then and then I will take the remainder of the school year off which with my summer break means I will be with him for about 4 months before going back. I'm so glad it worked out so perfectly.
I do temporary assignments at the moment. This one I hope extends till the end of March which then I will take Maternity leave.
I don't know when I will return to work since I don't know if I'm moving to Massachusetts with my boyfriend or staying in Arizona but my plan is if I am in Arizona is to return to work as soon as possible like within a month since Financial Aid money wont last forever.
Thanks for everyone's posts, just interesting to see how we're all going about maternity leave
As for me, planning to work until the very last day my doctor tells me not to. Going to use my accrued sick hours until 6 weeks post delivery (ive maybe taken 2 sick days working 7.5 years), then use part of my 12 week FMLA and get paid with my accrued PTO hours. Probably will be back by August, which gives me a good 4 months of bonding.
But who knows, real life never goes according to plan
I know there's a lot of teachers out there, but the timing of maternity leave with LO and the summer is just perfect. I'm starting to think all the A15 teachers intentionally planned an April baby for this reason. If so, great idea ;-)

Not a teacher but definitely hoped for an April or May baby so my maternity leave would fall during the best time of the year. an ideal birthday month too!
I'm hoping to work right up until I deliver. I work a desk job at the hospital where I'll be having the baby so hopefully that will make it easier to work until the end of my pregnancy. I'm still undecided on how much time I'll take off or if I'll be returning to work at all.
I am a teacher. My last day was scheduled for March 6th. I was in the hospital last week with preterm contractions and now am home on bed rest for at least two weeks. I have a Dr's appt on wed. Hoping to keep this baby cooking for 12 more weeks... I am not sure what will happen about work. Just worried about my baby!

Yep! I didn't think it would work out this well, but I am happy it did!
Re: Maternity Leave/Last Day of Work
A15 Siggy Challenge: Workout Fails
desk job - working until I pop. Taking 12w off (half paid by short term disability, half unpaid)
I took 9w for #2 and should have gone longer - for my own sanity.
I was laid off when I had #1 so I was a SAHM for a while with her.
