Top disproportionately common names by profession

Has anyone else seen or read this? Probably, but our local radio station was talking about it earlier and it was really interesting to me. Especially because one of our front runners for this baby is on here.

  • As an accountant, I feel neglected. Really, Charmaine? Of all names...that seems like an odd one to have in there.

I think some of these are more indicative of the average AGE within the profession than anything else (especially judge, firefighter, photographer, guitarist, etc.). Name trends change through the generations.

    Very cool, though!

If you read the information behind it, it isn't that these are the most common names in the profession. It was just showing these particular names have a much higher than average rate to go toward that profession.
Which I did not link to the graphic :) Probably should have!

This! And also it says something about the socio-economic and cultural components of these professions as well.  The farmers and ranchers have distinctively different unusual names than the surgeons and the lawyers.
  • I can't see Shawn in the VC category.
  • Ironically NONE of the Elwoods or Duanes that I know (including older men) were farmers.
