How long was it ? and did you get the epidural or not ? was it induced or a c section?

Re: How was your labor?!

  • From 1st contraction to baby in arms, 31 hours.
  • Loading the player...
  • Epidural, no induction, vaginal delivery
  • 10 hours by induction. Got an epidural. Loved it. 15 minutes of pushing for a pretty easy vaginal delivery.
  • Induced,17 hours, no epidural, 15 minutes of pushing!
  • Medically necessary induction at 37 weeks, went in 2 cm dilated and 90% effaced. 7 hours of labor and 15 minutes of pushing, labored 4 hours without an epidural and last 3 with. Pretty awesome labor experience, hope I'm half as lucky this time
  • 1st- Induced at 39wks due to GD, started at 6am, got epidural at some point, ready to push at 5pm, pushed for 4 hours with a 20min break, vacuum finally got her out. Had an epi but tore further (took a long time to heal).

2nd- Water broke at 41wks and 2 days at 11am, got epidural late afternoon, started pushing at 7pm and had her at 7:30pm. Had another epi but a MUCH better healing experience than the first.

  • I can tell you about my first baby:
Water broke at 8:30 pm, active labor started, admitted to L&D at 10:30 pm, got epidural at 3:00 am, started pushing at 4:15 am. Baby's heart rate was dropping so they ordered a vacuum to get him out, but he was born after a few more pushes at 4:40 before the vac arrived.
  • 13 hours by induction. Epidural. Pushed for 10 minutes!

  • @marleymiles this was my first baby. My inducement was medically necessary. Me very woman and labor is different. Trust your body and your doctor. You can do this regardless of how your birth plan differs from others. Soon none of it will matter because you will have a beautiful baby. Good luck.
  • Induced at 38w2d due to pre-e, started pitocin at 8pm, water broke naturally around midnight, hard contractions immediately until I got an epi (lifesaver) around 230am, slept for 3-4hrs on and off, woke up at 9cm, pushed for 30mins with no real pain and delivered vaginally at 8:34am so 12hrs and and overall good experience. Keeping my fingers crossed that #2 (due 3/19) is just a good of an experience!

  • 1st baby : 5.5 hours total. 15 minutes of pushing. No epi. No inducing. Contractions started strong but were irregular length and duration the whole time. Never regulated. Started somewhere between 3 and 5 minutes apart for sometimes just 30 seconds all the way up to a couple minutes each. Admitted at 7cm. doctors broke my water at 9cm. Baby girl was born vaginally all natural at 8.6lbs and 21 inch. Most intense 5.5 hours of my life!

    2nd baby... Still cooking!

1st- water broke at 4:30 am. Induced to start contractions by 5:30 (pitocin). Hard, hard labor until 4pm. Couldn't progress past 5cm and they noticed I had a second bag of waters. Weird! Got an epidural and went from 5-10cm in an hr. Pushed 20 min. 36w4d Was up andoving around within 2 hrs.

2nd- had regular strong BH contractions (false labor) for about 4 days straight. Went into L&D but wasn't dilated so they sent me home. Next day, went to OB appt with 103 fever. Got admitted to L&D and due to my temp, was rushed in for an emergency c section. I was in A LOT of pain during recovery. Prob because I was so sick, but it was horrible. 36 wk 2d

3rd- wanted to vbac but was scheduled for a RCS at 39 wks. was visiting my sis in San Diego and went into labor. Told my doc in LA That week I had lost my MP, was having reg contractions, and felt like I would be going into labor soon and he assured me he felt it would be weeks. Had diarrhea after dinner, some mild contractions, and fell asleep putting my girls to bed. Woke up with intense contractions. showered. and they intensified to the point that I couldn't walk or talk through them (9pm). Got ready to go to L&D triage, puked while giving urine sample. Admitted at 11pm at 4cm. Was laborimg so hard and fast, they weren't sure they could get me into the OR in time. I was having horrible back labor, and was desperate for any relief, even the RCS. Measured at 8-9cm before they were able to get me into OR and deliver me. Had him at 1:20ish am. 36 w2d. Recovery wasn't as painful second time around. 36w2d

4th-lost MP and bloody show for 3 days beforehand. woke up at 3:30 and went into L&D the morning before with contractions 1 min long 4 min apart. Was only at 2cm so they sent me home. Labored until the afternoon and then contractions stopped. Woke up again at 3 with strong contractions 1 min/ 4min apart. Took a shower and couldn't walk or talk through them by the time I got out. Couldn't even sit in my seat on the way to hospital (hands and knees). Admitted by 6am at 4cm (took forever because they were swamped) had an epidural around 10:45. Delivered at 1:20pm. Pushed 14 min. 36w. Was up and moving around an he after delivery. Best experience of them all, so far.
  • Btw, for my second vaginal birth, my water didn't break until right before I started pushing. Sometimes, those bags are really tough!
  • Got induced at 41w3d. Started pitocin at 8am and was 3 cm dilated, doctor broke water at 12:30 I was 3.5 cm, received epidural shortly thereafter. By 4:30pm I was at a 10 and NEEDED to push. 7pm, no baby... In spite of the epidural I was in a ton of pain, I was exhausted, and DS hadn't moved at all, so... After all that I ended up getting a C Section. 12 hours of my life I'll never get back! Oh well, DS was born happy and healthy, that's what's important.
