When do you find time to clean??

I work full-time and when I get home I just want to play with ds and dread cleaning - which doesn't really matter because SAHM work full-time too so this questions is for both moms -

how do you keep your house in order? when do you clean?? Do you have one big clean day (deep clean) a week or do you deep clean daily. I just feel that my house is always out of order and it's on my nerves. I need some advice to get organized!! TIA

I got pregnant with PCOS after many years of IF! Thank you Lord! Lilypie Fourth Birthday tickers Lilypie First Birthday tickers

Re: When do you find time to clean??

  • I honestly don't do it that often. I try to get the laundry done every weekend, but rarely clean much else, unless we are having people over.  I hate it, but it's so hard to find time for everything.  I've recently started having to sweep and mop (I purchased a Swiffer Wetjet to make it go faster) the kitchen more often since DD now loves to crawl around in there.

  • I stay on top of the little things daily- dishes, laundry.  I vacuum as often as possible and then onthe weekend when dh is home we trade off baby and cleaning.  (Most of the cleaning happens when she goes to bed, minus the vacuuming.)

  • I don't, so we hired someone to clean while were at work.  Just hope that we can still afford to keep it going in the new year, with this economy.  It's so great to walk into a clean house on fridays.
  • My husband does a lot of the cleaning and cooking, and we do some on the weekends.
  • After DS goes to bed during the week I pick up the house a little.  I also work 2 nights a week so DH will pick up the house on those nights.  I actually clean the house during the weekend when DS takes his naps.  If I keep up on the picking up during the week I really don't have that much to do.

  • We were deep cleaning 1x per month and then we have a calendar with 1 chore listed each day so we can maintain the house.  Laundry is done as-needed as are dishes.

  • I have a schedule and clean every night except fridays and saturdays for 1/2 an hour to an hour after Jo goes to bed. I don't do laundry. My husband does.
  • DH cooks and I clean up the kitchen every night after dinner (DD is already in bed). ?I do laundry every Wednesday during the day (I work from home so just throw it in when I have time throughout the day). ?I clean the rest of the house on the weekend either at night after DD has gone to bed, during her naps, or while DH is playing with her. ?We keep the house pretty organized throughout the week so cleaning only takes about 1 1/2-2 hrs a weekend.

  • This is what I just replied in a similar post:

Well, I only really clean once a week.  That's dusting with cleaner, wiping down the kitchen and bathroom with cleaner, mopping and vacuuming.  Maybe every couple days I'll do a spot dust.  Oh, and of course the kitchen gets wiped as need with a paper towel or wash cloth and the bathroom sink and counter get wiped off with my towel when I'm done in there.  HTH a little.

  • I haven't cleaned my bathrooms in like a month :(  Sorry that's gross but I just don't have time.  DD doesn't nap for long so I'm with her constantly on the weekends and only at home for a few hours before I go to bed and I'm with her then too.
  • I SAH full time, and IF I get any cleaning done during the day, its when DS is napping. Most of the time, I will clean after dinner while DH is bathing DS. If I get all of the dishes done and the kitchen cleaned from dinner, then I give DS a bath and clean a little after he is in bed.
