@Smyers2girls I was an RSC who decided to come a day early
@rosieo52 seatcheck.org if you are in the US can tell you the closest car seat inspectors and if they need to schedule a time vs you just showing up.
Love is like infinity: You can't have more or less infinity, and you can't compare two things to see if they're "equally infinite." Infinity just is, and that's the way I think love is, too.

We did a "test run" installation just to see how it would fit next to DD's car seat but don't have it installed. My friend is a car seat tech and I want her to look at it first so I will probably install it (and then take the seat out and leave he base in) the next time I see her.

We're waiting for above freezing wind chills. So it could be awhile. We have no idea how to do it so sitting out in the garage in -8 degrees temps does not sound fun.

Thanks for this! I've been looking for somewhere to get our seat checked besides our hospital. They offer really limited hours and only during the middle of business hours. Not very convenient.
We found our carseat & bases finally. We'll wait to install the base until 38wks. DH made the point he didn't want to drive around and risk getting in an accident with the carseat (thus needing a quick carseat purchase).
The only thing I have done to prepare for baby so far is make a few freezer meals Our car seat is half an hour away (along with the pack n play, newborn clothes from my other kids, and some other baby items we need for LO's arrival) so we have to go pick it up before I can wipe it down and install it. I'm 36 weeks now so I'm thinking we'll do that sometime in the next 2 weeks or so.

SS here. Since I already had my baby 3 weeks ago, we have had the seat installed. In fact just today I removed it from the van and brought it up to the NICU so they can do the carseat challenge tonight. If ds passes and gains weight tonight and tomorrow night we will be going home on Monday.
I will be 37w tomorrow and we just purchased our car seat today. For me It feels good to check this off the list but really even if you have to send someone to pick it up while you are in the hospital it is not the end of the world.
I voted this weekend but that's just b/c none of the answers really fit me. We have selected our car seat but don't have it yet! I still have one more shower that's not until the end of this month. I'm hoping that we will get the travel system as a gift. If not we will buy it right after the shower. And install the car seat in early February. I'm not due until the 25th so I think that'll be plenty of time.
Not yet. But we have to buy three new, narrower seats to fit all three kids across one back row. And we have to go down to the big city to get said seats... :grimacing:
I chose SS. We installed ours a few days ago but I'm 36 weeks. At 34 weeks it wasn't even on my mind, so no judgement here. I'm glad to have it in there now. I still don't have bags packed or anything, but working on it. I'm swinging by the fire department one day this week to get the car seat inspected for proper installation, but it's using the latch system so it's pretty hard to mess up.
My BIL is going to have to install mine (he's a pro by now) and he works crazy swing shifts and 12 hr days to top it off... just waiting for him to have a spare moment to help us out!

I almost to 37 weeks have had planned to put the car seat in sometime this week but was put on bed rest and it seems like baby might be making an appearance this week so installation is up to my husband!!
Don't feel bad we have just gotten most of our stuff down in the past couple of weeks because my doctor had been warning the baby will most likely get here early!
I selected "this weekend" but then posted about how I wasn't going to do it over the weekend, but soon.... then I ended up doing it the day this was posted. )
eh it takes all of 5 minutes to install the base. We'll probably take it out of storage, but i don't think we'll put in car until after baby arrives and DH goes home sometime during the hospital stay to pick up anything, shower, etc. We only live about 20 minutes from where I will deliver.
Im 35 weeks&just did it earlier this week. I figured in case she comes early, I don't want DH struggling with it & nervous. Getting it checked today at a local place that provides safety checks.

We'll just toss it in the back of the car on the way to the hospital. Second kid in all, we don't want to take up the room/seat until necessary.
I've at least gotten it out of storage and all cleaned/ready.
