I'm back from vacation and Paris is very different from when I left two
weeks ago. We did not march yesterday as we got back from the airport
after our red-eye flight at almost 3pm, but many of our friends and
colleagues did. I'm seeing the famous "je suis Charlie" phrase
everywhere (buses, signs, in the corner on TV, etc). Just a side-note
about the phrase, the "suis" has been generally translated to be "am"
using the verb être, however it could also be "follow" using the verb
suivre (same word in the "je" conjugation). Some of the French people
I've talked to have mentioned there's some intentional ambiguity and
it's part of why the sentence is so popular.
Oh, I gained 10 lbs
in 2 weeks in the US. Normally I gain a little less than that on
vacation, but can blame it on beer. This time I'm blaming bagels,
Mexican, and ice cream. I dont know how you US ladies handle all the
food/servings/convenience/things open all the time!
I'm still feeling pretty good, a little sicky this morning but I'm blaming jet-lag. Still no movement that I'm sure is movement and I've got a shit-ton of appointments to schedule in the coming weeks. Can I go back to vacation?

Welcome back to TB ! 10lbs sounds like you had a great holiday Though sorry to hear you had to come back to the Charlie situation which we followed closely here on Australia. We recently experienced a terrorist situation in Sydney and it was awful.
Anyways, I've been feeling pretty zenned out. Very calm and at peace. Just waiting for signs of movement. Joys of anterior placenta!
I'm glad you had a good vacation @suzysurparis No one can blame you for bagels, Mexican, & ice cream. I do hope those bagels were from New York though!
I'm sorry you are having to come back to Paris at this horrific time. I hope things work out for the best. Paris has been my dream city since I was 9 years old and I hate to think of anything awful happening there.
Welcome back @suzysurparis ! I never thought of the ambiguity of être/suivre. I think here (Montreal) people see it as être. But then again, that's just my perspective of it.
Scratchy throat and cough will be part of my day, again. This time i have cough drops!
We went to visit the inlaws yesterday. Generally we get them to watch DD when we need a sitter with the result that DD wouldn't go to sleep until 3 am because she thought she had gotten left at their house for the night. I'm so tired right now I'm surprised I'm functioning.
Also...gas, and random pains in my abdomen (I think round ligament) that are bad enough to make me double over for a minute.
Feeling ok, headaches mostly. But getting some of this elusive 2nd tri energy! I swear I never even had this with DD. Ive gotten some projects/cleaning/organizing done around the house that I've been wanting to do for a while. I have an appt at 10 and I'm anxious. I find it hard going a month between appointments.
Feeling really good this morning! Hopefully this keeps up so I can get my house into some sort of order today. Current mode: disaster zone. I forget what a nice, clean house feels like.
@Schnurette I've been having this too!! Thinking its gas for me, it's on my side... It's not fun
Feeling okay. Definitely calmer these past few days and I only have ONE (knock on wood) zit on my face right now. Thankful for that!! Headache stillllll lingering but much much better. Sleeping is getting tough, achy when I wake up.
I have so much mucus in my throat right now, it is terrible. Basically I constantly cough it up, which makes my head ache. Also at one point last night the choking lead me to strain a round ligament, which hurt like a bitch. I would kill a man for some Mucinex right now...the good stuff that you have to get from behind the pharmacy counter. Sigh.
Still dealing with the flu. Just had to call out of work because I still don't feel well enough to go in today. I'm really hoping that I start to feel better as the day goes on because I really can't afford to be sick right now. Thankfully I don't have a fever just everything else that comes with the flu (body aches, sinus pressure, running and clogged nose) it's been a fun past 3 days and I'm just ready to feel better! !
Well for me this lovely snowy NE morning got cramps while driving to work Dr told me no work and to go home and rest for an hour if they continue to call. A bit freaked out being a ftm
I'm feeling good! Except having concern about weight gain... I'm week 16 and 5 days and I've gained maybe 2 pounds. Wasn't overweight when we got pregnant..definitely wasn't underweight just average/healthy. I'm 5'10 and pp weight was 157, got on the scale this morning and it was 158. This is my first pregnancy so I'm just worried the baby isn't getting any nutrients or isn't growing... I was really sick in the 1st tri. Just thought I'd see if anyone else has experience with slow weight gain or not a lot of weight gain.. Thanks!!
@csufan12, I just started putting on weight, I dropped 6lbs the first try and than weighed the same from 14weeks up until 18 weeks. Now I look at the scale and think oh dear god! My dr didn't seem worried so don't stress!
I think all my first tri symptoms are back with a vengeance! Nausea, morning shits(TMI, sorry), acne from hell! I'm pretty sure satan himself is trying to crawl out of a pimple on my cheek! And the headaches and cramps are just as bad if not worse than what I dealt with when I had my period.
Thanks for the welcome backs! @mrscampos4life I thought of the être/suivre thing immediately but maybe it's because French is not my native language. I only had one friend mention the ambiguity to me, so it's not wide-spread, but I like the idea.

Feeling pretty good for the most part! Sleeping is proving to be more uncomfortable as the days go by. Wake up with back pain/stiffness everyday. Tying my shoes leaves me out of breath so that's fun.

I finally caved and got one of the boppy body pillows last night. I could actually feel my spine going back into proper alignment. It was amazing. DH stole it as soon as I got up this morning.
I've actually definitely noticed myself feeling a lot better- more awake. My back is KILLING me, but I can deal with that.
Something interesting (and painful sometimes) is that my uterus is seriously hard. I've heard other people refer to it feeling like a baseball, so that sounds normal? I'm laying in bed right now and can poke it with no trouble. It seems like baby is hanging out on the left, which is fun. But it is so tight that any movement I make feels restricted. And now that I've typed it out that just sounds like being pregnant. Never mind.

Welcome back. @suzysurparis! Glad you had a good vacation!
Not much going on with me. Got a little nausea right as I was leaving for the gym. Not sure if my tummy was too empty, or it just didn't like the combo of Metamucil and Carnation Instant Breakfast this morning. Don't worry, I'm not mixing them :-& They just get ingested at about the same time. It's my usual pre-gym snack and doesn't normally bother me, so who knows.
My face is......ok...... at the moment. Nothing new has popped up, but the old pimples are taking forever to clear out of here.
I had a harder time breathing than usual this morning. I had to modify my cardio class some because my lungs couldn't keep up with the activity. That's going to get old fast. So is huffing and puffing up the stairs at home.
Other than that, I'm tired, but feeling pretty good!
I can not wake up or focus on anything today. I've been sitting at my desk playing with my phone all morning. I did a bunch of house work and walking this weekend and now my hip is killing me. I just want to go back to bed.
Edit: 19w 3d and still no movement. Anatomy u/s is on Wednesday!

@IsadoraB I completely feel you with the hip pain! If I step into my pants, over a baby gate (for the dogs), or just walk around I feel like my hip might pop out of it's socket. I hope you can find time to rest and relax!
TIRED! & plenty of gas to share. About that second trimester "energy boost". Also have to find time to wash all my bedding due to a little dog puking at about 5 am. Thought I felt some movement on Friday but nothing but gas since then.
I've actually definitely noticed myself feeling a lot better- more awake. My back is KILLING me, but I can deal with that.

Your second paragraph made me laugh do you think maybe you had a BH contraction? Usually when mine feels really tight and movement restricted like that I'm having one.
17w1d, still randomly vomiting, woke up around 3am and threw up and then again mid morning.
Much worse than that- the baby, or my uterus, or something is settled right on my bladder and I constantly feel like I have to pee, it kind of hurts and is now on the third day of this I was worried it was a uti but I don't have any other uti symptoms and if I press between my pelvis and abdomen the feeling stops. So, I've spent as much time as possible propped at an angle, which helps a tiny bit. I'm miserable and hope something shifts soon.
I've felt great the past week or so and today I am one hot mess!! Atound 12 at work I got an awwwwwful headache paired with some terrible lower back pains. Headaches are normal for me but not this back pain. I stand all day at work so it was pretty bad. Very thankful for having an Amazing Boss tho! And super happy to now be at home in my bed. Relaxing for the rest of the night!!!
I feel pretty good overall, but eating is still a chore...always hungry, never feel like eating. I'm getting daily headaches that last from about lunchtime until dinner time. Sleeping is tough, but I always feel so tired. I'm going to dig out my boppy body pillow tonight I think. Compared to the first 15 weeks, I feel amazing!!

I don't even know what I'd anticipate that feeling like? Is it similar to period cramps? When I think of contractions, I'd assume it feels like my body trying to expel something, and this doesn't really feel like that... Is that on point or not so much? Guess I have some googling to do.

If contractions feel like my period cramps, I'll need to epidurals!
Real contractions felt like period cramps on steroids and then hopped up on something even more that I don't even know about. But everything also happened too fast for me to get an epidural or any sort of drugs in me so that wasn't helpful, ha.
I had a pregnancy brain moment today. Put DS's laundry in the washing machine when he went down for his nap, switched over to the dryer when he woke up, went back down about 40 minutes later to grab it and it was soaking wet in the dryer. I didn't start it. Doi.
Can I add another...? I'm all of a sudden having horrible anxiety about my anatomy scan tomorrow morning... I've had 3 scans already including the the NT testing. All looks good so far, it's just sooo freaking nerve wracking. I'm freaking out!!!! The what ifs are out of control anyone else go through this before theirs?
Feeling pretty good today. I had my regular midwife appointment today and am down 3lbs from last time. Not surprising considering how little I ate in Colombia. But I definitely need to start gaining now.
Sleep sucks, so I bought a Snoogle today. I sure hope it helps me sleep!
@awheeler4311, take a deep breathe girl!! LO is probably perfectly fine but I totally understand all the "what ifs" I feel like I question everything with being a FTM, should this hurt? Is this much gas normal? Etc., keep us posted on how tomorrow goes!! I can't wait to hear about how perfect your LO is!!
