Re: Fun and Fabulous Friday Spam

  • mishka29  at what point did you put something under your sheets?  never really occurred to me to do this, now Im considering it

Ugh  - just had an awful day of family drama and it's totally stressing me out to the point Im not sure I can deal anymore, may have to cut them all off

My mom asked me today if she could be in the room for pushing!!  I really wasnt expecting this and I told her i wasnt sure and she was pretty disappointed.  Not sure how to handle this one, is it really a big deal for her to be there or will I regret it??

the last crazy thing of today was I switched care from my OB to the MW I met last week.  I met her as a backup bc my OB told me shes supposed to be away on vaca over my EDD so I wanted a plan B and I loved the MW.  I called today and told them I want to meet with Jan from here on out...its SO crazy late to do this but why not?!

  • Hi all, catching up on spam. We have a mattress protector, but I might put a towel down towards the end for added power. My coworker had her water break before contractions with both her babies, but it seems rare in general. That said, I don't want our mattress ruined.

My landscaping is the least of my concerns. I keep things trimmed, but i really don't care about hairy legs. My leg hair is light colored tho and not very noticeable. I will not be shaving anything once I go into labor.

This weekend we are putting the crib together and generally relaxing. I'm maxed out from work and looking forward to mat leave!

@kerrigrooves Regarding having your mom in the room during labor, it's really up to you. If you hadn't even considered having her in the room before now, I don't think you will regret not having her there. I think I'm pretty close to my mom, but I'm incredibly private and wasn't comfortable with the idea of having her in there. She was disappointed when I told her I wanted it to just be DH and I, but she understands and totally supports my decision. You need to do whatever is most comfortable for YOU.

  • @Xoxolicia‌ lol! That was like my standard breakfast when I was commuting to college from Sugarland to Houston. Lol

@kerrigrooves‌ I didn't want my mom there originally with DD but at the last minute, like literally 2 minutes before I started pushing I wanted her there. So who knows you might change your mind last minute.

I have a stupid FTM question. I'm a total germaphobe. If my water breaks at home, can I shower before heading to L&D?

I did after calling L&D first. They said it was fine but to make it quick and make sure it was a shower not a bath.

Edit: When mine broke it was clear and there wasn't a noticeable smell at all but I definitely wanted to shower too :-)
  • @kerrigrooves‌ I already have something under the sheets on my side, but I'm a crazy planner. Baby's clothes were washed and folded and ready to go in October. I just use a large baby changing pad (got it at Walmart in a 3 pack). It's soft so I don't even notice it.

That's oddly specific that she wants to be there for the pushing. I've heard many people say person X will be there until pushing time and then they will leave. I guess in your case I would think about that moment when LO comes out and is laying on you and you are meeting them for the first time and your DH is standing right there...do you want to look up and see your mother too?

Hey! I'm in Houston also @mom2xover2002‌! I'm out on the West side. Hey neighbor!

I was feeling guilty because this combination has pretty much been my dinner for the past 3 nights.

Lol.. I'm farther south now :) im in Corpus. But hey it's Texas so distance is all relative! Kids and I were in SugarLand until June of 2010.

Honestly until the third Tri started I couldn't stand the taste of Dr. Pepper. I mean that should be a crime in Texas.

The more I think about labor the more I feel like I'd like to do it like a cat: find some small, isolated, dark room all by myself. I feel like that would feel safe and comforting to me an allow me to be in the zone for it without distractions or any moments of self consciousness. It's not gonna happen, but it is kind of my dream L&D.

^^^ this is me, exactly! I've been saying to friends and family from day one that ideally I would give birth entirely by myself. Unfortunately, it is not possible. I'm hoping that for my home birth I can get a lot of privacy during most of the labour, at least.
  • @sammysargeant2014‌ sorry to hear about your loss. I lost my grandma last year and my other grandma and aunt the year before that. I was close with all of them so I know how hard it is. Hope you and your family are holding up alright.

What?!?! Yes, that should be a crime. I don't typically drink sodas, but Dr. Pepper isn't soda. Dr. Pepper is heaven in a can...or bottle.
I used to drink 1 a day but once I found out about LO I couldn't stand the taste until 3rd tri. Horrible I know! A dr pepper from Sonic ....happiness...lol
