Pregnant after a Loss

Dr scale vs Home scale

On Sat I weighed myself and I was at 130 then went on Mon to the Dr and it said 136. Not that I am really caring how much I weigh I know I'm eating well and feeling good. But 6 pounds is a big difference and I would like to have my scale at home be on track with the Dr's.

My friend told me to put a hand weight on my scale and see if it's accurate and I just did that and it is. So I'm going to tell my Dr office they need to change there's. Hee Hee!Wink

Re: Dr scale vs Home scale

  • my scale is way different than my doctor's too.  once you get a baseline at your dr's office, the gain/loss will be consistent.  I just put more faith in what that starting number was on my home scale!

  • Yeah, my scale at home is about 4lbs less than the dr's scale.  Drives me crazy!  :)
  • The scale is different at my dr's office also. The nurse just told me to use the one at home since that is what I have been using to weigh myself weekly.
  • My home scale is like 10 lbs off form my dr's! It makes me feel HUGE when I'm there....
  • Doctor scales are EVIL!

They lie to you (at least that's what I'm telling myself)

  • I wrote this same question a few weeks ago! Everytime I go to the doctors(stemming from years ago) the scale was always around five pounds more) I honestly think they do the measurements on those doctor scales so fast that they're not accurate at all. Either way, who knows, go by the scale that you've been always using at home. Last time I went to my doctor for the weight in, I just closed my eyes! ha
  • I agree with everyone else!  My dr. scale is wrong, but I did schedule my appointment at the same time every time, that helps.  When I asked my dr. about the difference she just said that it was odd.  I use my home scale as my point of reference especially because I was losing weight when I got pregnant!  Good luck!
  • I don't think they take the time at the doctor's office to get an accurate weight. I'm not weighing myself at home since I've had weight issues in the past but I've noticed that half the time at the doc's office they don't do it right.

  • Yep...I agree dr.'s office scales are evil. I weigh less at home than I do there....I stopped weighing myself at home because it's too scary to see that #!!!
  • My scale is off from the Dr's but it is also cheap and I can step on it and it says one thing and 10 minutes lateer I step on and I gained anywhere between .5 and 1.5 pounds!  Ya, like I said cheap scale. and not very accurate.  As long as your Dr's scale remains consistent both scales will show the same amount of weight gain regaurdless of hom much it tells you you weigh.
