Re: Thursday Randoms

  • I have so many book names I would use on this kid. Atticus would be my first pick for a boy or Bran. Arya, Jean Louise, Harper, and Madeline are all picks for a girl

I've been searching with the useless bump search engine - can somebody please point me in the direction of that blog that's good for first time moms when figuring out what to register for/what stuff's unnecessary and a waste of money? I know there are a bunch out there so I want the good stuff ;)

I'm working on our amazon baby registry, although I don't think I'll be giving it out.  Yay completion discount!!

I need to know this too. So please share when you find it.
Me three.  I'm been acting like it's just going to magically get done..  Ha.

  • blerg... the massage therapist told me today that apparently the "crick" in my neck/shoulders is actually a strained trapezius (?) muscle, and when I couldn't recall how I did it she said I probably did it in my sleep trying to get comfortable. (pregnancy is so glamorous!)

got home and decided to bust out the pregnancy pillow for a nap, and woke up feeling like I slept on a pile of rocks! woe is me. why can't I just sleep on my stomach for the next 9 months?? ;)

I too am having a hard time grasping that sleeping on my stomach is uncomfortable now and not even possible in a few weeks. Sads :(

As a long time stomach sleeper I missed that and had awful insomnia with DD (which sadly I'm used to insomnia). This pregnancy sleeping on my side helped with the nausea when I was so sick but I miss stomach sleeping

Do you carry a heavy purse on one shoulder vs. the other? That can put a crick in neck/shoulder from personal experience.
And to geek out, the trapezius is the most superficial muscle of the back, it's shaped like a kite. Goes from the neck out to the shoulders and down the back. Exact attachments are escaping me.

  • @SlurpeeLove I was so happy when my parents brought me back some pastelitos de guayaba and quesitos from their most recent trip to Puerto Rico!  There's nothing like them.  Although hot Krispy Kreme sometimes sounds good too.

Do any other Mammas have young daughters that strip down when they go to sleep? I know DD is going down for a nap or it's bedtime because her habit to shed her clothes. Can't keep this kid clothed at home or any family members home when it's sleepy time.
  • My dog is asleep on my lap and she keeps farting. I'm pretty sure it's going to make me throw up. :-&
  • Desperately searched for food to eat in the car on the way to go pick up dinner. Yup. I'm there.

Plus - no one can dull my fuckin shine today
  • @RWPhoenix We're considering some version of Jean Louise too!  DH proposed Scout, and I thought it sounded a bit too much like a nickname (since it is), and so I've been toying around with some version of Jean/Gene.. He really really likes Scout for the real name though, so I'm still letting it be on the table.  Atticus sounds a bit formal to me and is so clear a reference that I don't think I can use it, but I love love the character!

  • @MigdaliaRose For the record I probably would never name my son Atticus...but he is one of my favorite literary characters. DH vetoed both Harper and Jean Louise when I was pregnant with DD, which was fine because I had her name picked out since I was like 3 years old and with some helpful nerdy references I got him to agree to her name. I still like the name Harper but it's uber popular now. Sigh this babeh is nameless until we know if it's a boy or girl I fear

Yummmm MIL makes them fresh when we come over and taught me how to make them too ;). I also know how to make roasted pork shoulder, rice and beans, AND homemade sofrito.
YUM Puerto Rican food!  DH's mom is Puerto Rican and he's slowly becoming the cook of the family.  Everyone made fun of me at Christmas that I pitched a fit and insisted we have pasteles.  Don't make me an honorary PR and feed me Christmas pasteles for 10 years and then just TAKE THEM AWAY.

There's now a bag in my freezer full of them.  Much, much better :)
  • My bf and I decided to tell his parents tomorrow and I'm so nervous [-O<
  • @CharlotteVol we had the caterer learn how to make yucca pasteles for our wedding!

  • @sandybananas‌ i was looking at some late term bellies yesterday (I don't even remember where or why, so now I feel weird) and I was kind of taken aback by the size! I've certainly seen them before on others, but now that it is my future, holy crap.

holy schneikes, 40 weeks bellies are HUGE. HOW does our body possibly do that? now I'm terrified.

Lol. I thought those were scary until I googled a full term twin belly.

    DO NOT WANT.

Holy crap! Those are scary! My belly hurts just looking at those... Or maybe my uterus is just having growing pains.

Why thank you! This weekend I will turn it into a google doc so I can share the link!
@sandybananas‌ my friends and I used to make UTTER asses of ourselves during Cabo Cantina's bottomless mimosas. Sunday Funday often turned into "Woke up Tuesday".
oh man do I miss bottomless mimosas!
I think Cabo's got the name for that brunch time "bottomless mimosas" because I'd drink enough mimosas, sooner or later, I'd be bottomless.

  • Ayyyy I didn't Bump much today because we had some family drama and I felt crappy...But now I thought I'd come scope it out...and ELEVEN PAGES of randoms??? You guys have been busy...Posting before I read some...

    My randoms:

    1) Went home sick from work because I felt like crap. BUT I had an OB appointment this afternoon so I got to hear little babies heart beat and that was awesome.

    2) My MIL has been having a tingling/numbness sensation in her right arm, right side of her neck and right side of her face. She thought it was just her carpal tunnel acting up, apparently, so for a month she didn't tell anyone. Today she decided to go to the doctor for it and apparently NOPE not carpal tunnel she most likely had a STROKE. And they want her to do an MRI but are making her wait two weeks for that appointment??? I don't know all the details yet, but thoughts and prayers would be appreciated...this poor woman has been through a lot. She had 12 surgeries last year for staghorn kidney stones that were the size of a fist in each kidney. Now this....

    3) Had to take hubby to the urgent care tonight because his right hand and wrist were all of a sudden extremely swollen and he could hardly move it. It's just tendinitis but with everything else going on today it was sort of just the crappy flavored icing on this shitty cake of a day. He has to wear a brace for 2 weeks, ice it, Ibuprofen it up and limit the use of it. Thankfully his work has been slow, anyway but he works in the pump/well business which is very hands on. Ugh.

  • Vent!
My SIL outted the pregnacy to my MIL and StepFIL, whome we live with and pay rent to. They were not pleased at all! Talk about even more awkward conversations coming my way. And I still haven't told my family either. My mom was just telling me to leave my husband because he hasn't found full time permanent work yet! Plus, my grandfather is sick with cancer and it doesn't look good. She keeps telling me to come home but I don't have the money to do so. And I'm pretty sure by the time I do, it'll be too late in the pregnancy to fly. Argh. Sorry ladies, I needed to unload. I haven't told hubby what my mother said about leaving. It isn't worth the argument.

Where do I find pics? (Not creeper, just a pregnant lady trying to imagine what life will be like in 6 months...)
Google image search or check out HDBD threads on other BMBs.
