Distractions or weaning?

How do you tell the difference between LO not wanting to nurse because she is ready to cut back and when she is just too interested in other things to bother about nursing?

Re: Distractions or weaning?

  • I don't know the answer to your question but hav you tried nursing in a dark room with nothing for her to really look at? That might tell you if it is just distraction or weaning.

  • She does still wake at night, but I don't necessarily think it is because she is hungry. We've had lots of trouble getting her to sleep. Last night however, she barely wanted to nurse at all before bed, but then slept 8 hours! She REALLY enjoyed taco night... it seemed like she ate a real portion of both the beef and avocado. I probably offer too often. I get nervous if she goes more then a couple hours.
  • Due April 5, arrived March 29 so I pop back and forth... She is just 9 months last week, but I'm sure you're right, she can go longer. I'll skip offering before morning nap and see how it goes! And thanks!
  • So far day 4 of nursing only 4 times during the day is going really well! She seems happy and content during the day and has not increased her night wakings, so it seems she is getting enough! Thanks @babycaps!
