April 2015 Moms

What are you wearing?

In my attempts to look cute when I'm not rocking this maternity uniform, I started to wonder how everyone else was dressing up their bumps.

What's been your favorite thing to wear this pregnancy? What do you like to lounge around in?

Spill your favorite bump-styling secrets!

Re: What are you wearing?

  • I mostly rotate through several pairs of non-maternity yoga pants. I'll put my full-panel jeans on if I'm leaving the house though.

Winter boots, scarves and cardigans... I love being pregnant in the winter so I can hide the parts of my growing body that I'm not very comfortable with.

  • Yoga pants or sweatpants, t-shirt, and a sweatshirt. Everyday. Thankfully my work doesn't have a strict dress code.
  • I am really enjoying this stage and dressing up the bump is so much fun! I usually wear my old skinny jeans which fit once I use the rubber band trick and I usually pair them with tight basic h&m tank tops(the longer ones) and a cardigan. I also like h&m maternity leggings and jeans, they are super comfy. As for my other maternity clothes, I ordered some super cute dresses and skirts online from ASOS. They have a great maternity line, true to size and affordable, check them out!
  • It varies for me. I have a couple pairs of jeans that I wear with either my cute maternity tops or my tshirts from work with our logo on them. I love leggings lately with big sweaters and boots! It really just depends on my mood I guess. My go to as soon as I'm home though? VS sweats and a tank, no bra of course lol because that's usually the first thing I ditch when I get home!

  • Do you guys have favorite brands of maternity t-shirts? I'm at the point where my favorite "used to be loose" tunics don't fit over the bump anymore.. sigh. Time to grab a few more basics..

  • My uniform is leggings and boots. Either with a big cozy sweater or layering tank, long sleeve then unbuttoned cardigan. Usually with a scarf.

I haven't even attempted jeans. I'm all about the comfy.. ain't nobody got time fo' uncomfortable clothes while pregnant!
  • I wear a steady rotation of (primarily ASOS) maternity dresses with maternity tights and knee-high boots to work almost every day. On the weekends I live in full-panel maternity leggings and hoodies.  Oh, and my Sorel hard-bottomed slippers (sidebar: possibly the best splurge purchase of all time given the foot/hip/back pain I had been having from walking around the house in unsupportive footwear).

  • I got these PJ pants at Motherhood that are so comfortable and so cute.  They are form-fitted on the legs but have an expandable waistband.  Love them.  Also Target has these long-sleeve maternity shirts that are very comfortable as well.

  • Targets Liz Lange full panel leggings are great (BIG though. I'm a size 4 usually and the S is way too big). They're not sheer at all like the crap ones I got at Motherhood.

H&M "Mama" nylon tights are great under basically any dress. I also have H&M Mama basic tanks and they're amazing-- no Cami because those cut the circulation off to mah boobs. The straps are wide enough to cover my actual bra straps underneath.

And Cole Hann flats with Nike air cushion. Every day.
  • Straight cut leg full panel maternity jeans (Motherhood Maternity), cowl neck black and white colored variegated yarn longer maternity sweater (Target), off-white ballet flats with a large flower on the side (Naturlizer), chunky pendant necklace that sits nicely in the scoop of the cowl neck.  I'm also wearing a maternity tank under the sweater.

I wear a maternity tank under almost all shirts/sweaters... what is it with the low cut shirts for maternity clothes?  I mean, we're already knocked up, why insist on showing off the porn inspired pregnant boobs?  So, the tank helps me be more modest (especially at work) as well as covering the lower half if my outer shirt rides up a little.

I had two compliments today on my outfit, so I'm guessing it works :)

Old Navy! They're usually super cheap. And I love their tanks too. Basic but good for layering.
I second this!  Dress code at the bar (work) is pretty much whatever we want, so I live in jeans and shirts from Old Navy.  I was able to buy several pair of maternity jeans secondhand for super cheap- $15 total for about 7 pair.  Some are stretched out, so I wear my belly band over the panel, which keeps them up.  Tops are usually either secondhand shirts and sweaters or shirts from Old Navy.  At home (or when I'm in a DILLIGAF mood) I rock DH's t-shirts.  I have a few pair of leggings which are very comfy but don't have pockets so it's not convenient to wear them to work- nowhere to put the bottle opener.  Shoes are either sneakers when out of the house or slippers when I'm in it.

But I wish I was wearing one of these all the time. I should buy one so I could at least wear it some of the time:

  • I wear my maternity jeans with pre-pregnancy tops/cardigans/cute scarf most days. The other days I wear my pre-pregnancy maxi dresses with a jean jacket and either chunky necklace or scarf. I'm enjoying the ability to wear my current clothes before having to invest in maternity tops.

  • Today I'm rocking Loft full panel black cords, gray maternity cami, teal non maternity sweater (I'm petite but hate buying petite tops so they are still long enough), and a gray non maternity cardigan open. Other days if wear scrubs. I would love to buy some tunics to wear with leggings but haven't done that yet. PS it's freezing here if you can't tell from all of my layers!
  • Leggings or skinny pants/jeans with a maternity top and a cardigan with boots for work. Pretty much the same thing on the weekends except I wear my hair down. At home leggings and a tank or tee shirt.

Work schedule: Shirt/sweater that fits (mix of maternity and nonmaternity) with jeans (2-3x a week; dark wash or black maternity skinny jeans); sweater dress and leggings, or "real work dress" and leggings. I teach, so I dress professionally, but my school doesn't mind jeans either.

At home I am all about the leggings with tanks, fleeces, or even paired with my leopard bath robe :) If I am headed out somewhere at night, I have some cute tops to wear also.

RIght now my struggle is a winter coat. I will outgrow my regular parka soon and I will need something warm to walk my dogs in (Chicago condo= taking the dogs out in miserable conditions). Everywhere I have looked, the coats I found look thin and short...
  • Mostly yoga pants. I use the Bella band on my jeans still, and big cozy sweaters ftw:)
  • Full panel jeans, although I'm about to strangle whatever person made this particular pair of old Navy Jeans. The panel is too freaking small and tight!!! Sweaters, long t's w/ cardigans. I'm lucky that work is so casual.
  • Full panel skinny jeans, or sometimes I still wear my pre-pregnancy jeans will a belly band, although they are starting to not stay up so that will no longer be an option soon. I'll pair them with a tight, belly emphasizing top since I'm in love with my bump right now, oversized flowing cardi's, and tall boots or flats.

I dress the same as I normally do, just maternity clothes.  Gap always has really cute maternity clothes on sale!

My work doesn't allow jeans or yoga type pants except on Fridays.

Typically I paid full panel dress pants or cords with a light sweater, or a dressy camo with pre-pregnancy cardigan and a chunky necklace because I love chunky jewelry. Shoes are usually flats or some super comfy wedges that still fit.

Fridays & weekends are similar but with dark wash skinny or boot cut maternity jeans & boots or flats.

Lounging at home is always yoga pants or pj pants.
  • Leggings, Love my Old Navy Tami tanks, Boots, scarf and cardigan or jean jacket. Its been cold here in Cali.

  • The Jessica Simpson line has been a good fit for me for my office job attire and since I work for Gap at night part time I get an awesome discount to get my jeans and dress pants. The pure body line there jas really nice basics too. It's been a mix of that with a lot of flowy shirts or oversized sweaters with leggings...and my uggs every day.

I love the Liz Lange more expansive ones. So comfy and flattering. My only complaint is that the sleeves are that weird length that's a bit too short and makes almost everyone's arms look fatter. But I usually have a cardigan on, so...
  • I live in my yoga pants at home with one of DH's t shirts. When at work I'm wearing the most comfortable things I own, leggings, dresses, nothing tight on the belly. I bought a pair of olive green pants from Motherhood Maternity and they are so comfortable. At work its so cold because for some reason they wont turn the air off so I'm either wearing my northface jacket or DH's.

  • I've taken over my husbands tshirts when I'm at home. I can't find any Maternity pants that look decent so I'm relying on my belly bands and leggings. I really hope the belly bands will work till the end. Every pair of Maternity pants I've tried are seriously horrible!! I did invest in a few maternity shirts for work and also some regular sized a-line dresses that I wear as shirts.
  • Honestly unless I'm at work where I wear a white shirt, jeans, and an apron every day, I'm in Victoria's Secret sweats.

OMG - My mom had a very similar robe like this when I was growing up, except it was an emerald green.  It WAS super comfy.

  • Right now, I'm wearing ON maternity leggings and an oversized 10k tee.

I went on bed rest just as I was starting to wear maternity clothes.  I had a pair of black Gap demi panel dress pants that I loved, a pair of black Liz Lange full panel pants that I hated, and a black Liz dress and gray Liz dress that were both cute & comfortable (I hit Target like a desperate woman, and got some good deals - but the pants were just a bad fit).

I really lament the fact that I made a big purchase from Gap & ON the week before my water broke. The package didn't arrive until my second day on home bed rest.  I didn't even bother to try on the khakis, or chords.  I kept the jeans, b/c I thought I might need them after, but the rest I mailed back.

I'm really bummed about a really cute ON dress that I hadn't worn yet, b/c I was waiting to get bigger.  It's still got the tags on, but it was way past the return date.

There is a girl at work who's been struggling to get PG, and I'm really hoping she'll find success next year, so I can just gift her some new and barely used maternity clothes.

  • I've a pair of black and a pair of gray maternity dress pants and I mix those with black Ponte knit "leggings. Most of my shirts are non maternity, but they are on their last leg. I have 2 dresses I wear too. Jeans come from GAP and old navy, but I can only wear them to work on Fridays. I sleep in Gillian OMalley (target) soft XL bottoms that go under the belly and a picked up some 2x regular shirts at Target for 9.99 as pj tops.
  • My pajamas are the most comfy thing I own, it's too hot for jeans but my maternity jeans aren't too bad (I've got used to them ) and I've been wearing my regular 3/4 shorts but do need to get a skirt or maxi dress, I have none of these things... The maternity wear here is ridiculous and frumpy, for some reason they either think we want to wear tents or pregnant women were all size 10 when they fell pregnant and just need more room around the waist ... FFs. I need to find yoga pants too I think.. I can't afford to buy maternity from specialty stores and am relying on Kmart and target to get their act together...
  • I've been wearing my full panel jeans (bought 2 pairs, one from Ross and one from HM) or leggings (Ross) and all of my pre pregnancy long big tops, which now are very form fitting! Will probably have to nix the tops in a few weeks so I don't stretch them out! I also have 2 maternity workout outfits that I can wear all day when i to the gym. They are super comfy and make me look insanely pregnant ( full panel and tight ruched tops paired together seem to really do that!)

@chicsugar I just got a black maternity puffer jacket from Amazon. It's warm long cute, looking forward to wearing it in Iceland next month!

I hate all clothes. And not even because of my bump - it's my boobs. So over them! Putting on clothes requires me to pack them up and contain them.

Not just the size of them, but they're also so sensitive I feel like I need to buy some nursing pads or something to add extra cushion.

It's been leggings and boots and oversized sweaters every day for me. I don't really have a bump so I haven't figured out how to show it off yet.

At work I have to wear khakis and a work shirt so I just wear super comfy full panel khakis I got for $9 from Burlington coat factory. They also keep my butt from showing when I have to squat or bend down. They're WAY better for butt coverage than regular khakis. I may keep wearing maternity pants to work indefinitely...

  • I had to take my maternity jeans and cords from the gap and cut the elastic for much needed comfort.. Once I get home off they come and hello workout shorts. I need to invest in some comfy sleep pants and a nice robe.. I am afraid if I get a nice robe that is all I will wear :-O
  • Pretty much wearing leggings or straight leg maternity jeans or black pants with boots, a long tank, an oversized cardigan and a scarf! Every day. All day. Unless it's the weekend and in that case it's yoga pants, big Tshirt and no bra.
