2nd Trimester

when shaving becomes impossible...

Sorry if this is tmi, but I can no longer see my lower areas between the boobs and the belly. I hate the feeling of hair. I can't see to shave, the boobs get in the way of reaching easily. So I attempted to wax, but holy fuck it ripped my skin off! I even bled a bit from it. But didn't even get all of the hair. So NOT an option for me, at least not one I am ever considering again.

Is nair or veet, or other hair removal creams safe to use for the nether regions?

  • I tried a mirror. The boobs still don't allow me to reach enough. :/
  • Reaching to wipe is fine, it's two seconds, but reaching at different angles with a razor is not so easy for me to do and it takes over an hour.

As for paying to have it waxed, I just attempted to wax it myself and it ripped skin off.

After that experience, all wax can stay away with a ten foot pole! Lol
  • Lol you are more than likely right about that! It is something to consider then.

    Thank you for the advice!

Maybe not exactly answers I was hoping for, but what I needed.
  • You can always have your partner shave it for you.
    This.  DH helped.

I agree with this also. It's exactly what I was going to say until I saw it posted. DH helps me sometimes when my back hurts to bend over, I showed him how to do it so when the time comes he's got it!
  • I think that might be my last option, otherwise I think I'm just shit out of luck.

    Thank you everyone :)
  • I always waxed, but since being pregnant it really hurts. Increased blood flow, my skin is more sensitive. So now I shave, it just takes longer but I get there in the end.

  • Seems like that's my last choice. It could also be an issue brought upon by my recent arm injury (I'm right handed) that is still under the process of physiotherapy. I recently fractured the elbow and tore the muscles in it, so that may be also playing a part, though it's not painful to use. Thinking the flexibility is still a bit shot.

I'll just drop the bomb on my husband. Hey, you are shaving me from now on, I can't reach lol
  • Yeah don't waste money for waxing, just have your DH do it for you  B-)

  • Yall are my heroes for waxing while pregnant. I've only gotten waxed once and it wasn't the worst pain but not sow thing I would do regularly. Since being pregnant, I have 0 pain tolerance. I'll stick to just trimming for now.
  • you can also find a 'feminine' trimmer - which probably wont remove all the hair entirely but will at least leave you with a buzz cut- for me it was more about the bikini area which I take care of just by feeling the area as I shave.. good luck!

  • Glad you could get the support to help you.

There are nair products that can be used around the bikini line however one thing to keep in mind - pregnancy does wonderful and weird things. This includes reactions that may not have happened without all the excess hormones flooding your system.

The chemicals from liquid removers could cause a slight chemical burn to the area applied. Also - with waxing - you have increased blood flow to your lower area so that being said even if you are a seasoned wax/sugar pro, you may still find more bleeding than normal and possibly even more sensitivity to the removal or wax/sugar used than normal.

Just a thought ladies! Good luck for those trying not to have throwback to the 70's bush!

  • I couldn't handle even waxing my legs, so I've never tried the Brazilian thing.

DH has an electric trimmer thing. I've been using that, since I can't cut myself with it. I'm sure I'm not doing an amazing job of it, but it feels better (I can't stand to be furry either)

I have a bikini hair trimmer .. It's designed to reach even the most private hidden zones.. It's safe and does not leave all wounded ,can even blindfold n do it..
It does not Give a smooth razor or wax finish but still makes me feel clean..
You can try this,it's super cheap Walmart $8-10
  • I know that feeling. with DD I was able to reach it up til the day i had her. this time around i cant even shave my legs (i also have SPD which makes in impossible to lift my legs without it feeling like my pelvis is going to fall out of my ass) but I am determined before DS gets here to have my legs and Junk smooth! I'm single and have no significant other so my best friend is going to come down and help me out LMAO! Good luck, I know how bad it sucks!
  • Team professional wax!
  • I got waxed today for the same reason (can't see to shave which has been my habit).  Having a professional do it is definitely worth it and less painful than at home (which I tried several years ago, pre-pregnancy).

Another thing to keep in mind (per my ever helpful sister and experienced Mom) is that waxing before delivery is a fabulous idea.  You will have so much fluid/soreness going on down there after delivery you will want it to be low maintenance and having less hair = less smell/ickyness.

    This.
  • Try sugaring.  My friend does it so I have her sugar me.  It's much more gentle than waxing and uses natural ingredients so it doesn't rip off your skin.
  • @samzermeno‌ what exactly is sugaring? I have never heard of this.
  • I actually did some looking the other day and everything I found said nair etc. is fine to use. The only warnings were the usual ones that come on the packaging re: don't leave it on your skin too long etc.

Nair has a new kind out (or I took it to be new) called Spa Clay that is supposed to be less harsh smelling so I'm going to try to find that one this weekend (after a shaving fiasco the other day that caused much embarassment and discomfort).
  • I wouldn't recommend it.

Honestly, you might just let it be. You are supposed to have pubic hair.

  • I spoke with my husband, he's fully okay with lending a hand! Thanks everyone, you have been very helpful. I MAY consider a professional wax closer to my due date, that's if I can get over the trauma of my own butcher job incident lol
  • Yeah..... I tried blind once and thought I was doing great until I went to rinse the razor and realized I blood all over my hand. At first I thought the worst then I realized I nicked myself. From that point on I rocked the 70s bush!
  • Go get sugared. Sugaring is less painful, it removes the hair from the root whereas waxing tends to rip the skin and often breaks the hair instead of pulling it from the root. That's why when you wax (even your face) the skin goes all red, bc it's harsh... If you sugar, it doesn't go red... Much better and more natural for you too... It costs the same as going to get waxed.
  • But what exactly IS sugaring? I'm completely baffled lol
  • Hi me too. Dh offered to help with the electric and I just might take him up on it. :))

  • Sugaring is like waxing, but instead of using wax and strips they use a mix of sugar, lemon juice, water & salt and form a firm ball of the mixture and use that to take out the hair.  It is much more comfortable and does not attach to your skin so it doesn't rip or damage the skin.  The product is natural so it is easy to clean off with a warm moist towel.  I've tried waxing and will never do it again.  Hopefully a salon in your area offers this service :)

  • Thank you for explaining it! Sounds like it may be an option to look into!
  • With waxing, you will still have to shave at least once afterwards. They can't get all of the hair.
Also, if your pores open at all, you could get little tiny pimples that need released afterward. They hurt if they are not released.

  • did you try waxing yourself or going to a professional!!! If you tried waxing yourself I would try maybe going to a professional. I go to a spa and have it done about once every 6 weeks and it take about 10 min. With my first one I just shave and would feel around and then have my husband come check for me so maybe he can come check after and help you out? :)
