One sided belly tightness/discomfort

I've been having belly tightness/discomfort that radiates to my back at times. It's not necessarily painful, but it does feel so tight sometimes that I feel like I can't stand up straight. Baby has been kicking like normal and I doppled his heart rate twice now and it sound normal (same rate he has always been at). This has been going on for almost 24 hours. Is this a normal pregnancy feeling?

Re: One sided belly tightness/discomfort

  • Just on one side though? I feel like I've been drinking enough water but I could always drink more I suppose

  • Could definitely be BH. I remember feeling them on one side or the other sometimes. Drink water, put your feet up if you can If it continues, no harm in checking in with your dr.

  • I was experiencing this on Sunday. I drank a lot of water and I started to feel better. I went to my doctor's office today to get checked out and she said being dehydrated can cause contractions. So, like PP mentioned, drink more water. If you're really concerned you should call your doctor.
  • I actually went to L&D before Christmas with this exact symptom and some slight spotting. The pain was very bad.

They never told me what it was. My 6mo appt is tomorrow so I'm hoping to discuss it.
  • Ive been getting some BH. I should look into why water helps - that's pretty interesting that water alleviates BH! Learned something new :)

  • I have like a hard "ball" on just one side. If I feel same place on other side, it's soft. No pain though, just the hard area on my right side?!? What is this?? I'm a FTM! This is second time I've noticed this. :-/

I was in the ER last night for dehydration after a random day of morning sickness. Dr told me the waves of pain I was having in my abdomen and lower back were BH contractions. Apparently there's a place in your brain that sends signals to your uterus to contract when you are dehydrated.
Also I've had similar feelings OP, but I've it's when my son is curled up on one side like @GFJ48‌ said.
