The baby's parents God willing they make it in time (I'm a surrogate) and possibly a doula along with DH.
Oh wow, that is amazing that you are a surrogate! How far away are the baby's parents?

  • Just DH and I. My mom was in the waiting room for quite awhile before DS was born. She heard the birth anyway. Apparently when one's epidural doesn't work and the hospital you deliver at requires more insulation in the walls that equals many people being part of the birth one hadn't anticipated. I can laugh about it now!

  • DH, Mom, and MIL. My mom has extreme anxiety; so if she makes me nervous, I have my sister on the bench ready to come in as a sub. Lol. DH will escort her out if he has to. It may sound mean, but she has made me nervous throughout my whole first trimester (scolding me for grocery shopping, not eating, etc) and the last thing I need is nerves during delivery. She already talks about how I'm insane for choosing to attempt natural and that there is no way I'll ever make it.
My MIL and I are close enough where I feel comfortable with her in there. And I think, it's just as much her grandchild as my mom's so she deserves to see its birth too.
  • My sister! It is on her bucket list to watch a baby be born. We have a very close relationship, and I want someone there I feel comfortable with. My ex (baby's daddy) will be there too but we was only together four months and our relationship isn't that good.
  • With my ds I had my hubby, my mom, M and then at the last minute the nurses were escorting everyone out and my grandma was leaving and my husband turned around and said "you leave her alone, she's fine!". So my grandma sat on the couch and watched and cried... it was actually very sweet! This time my SIL has asked to be in the room and I told her if they would allow 4 people again that she could be there. I loved having my mom there she was so tentative to me when everyone else was concerned for baby. As soon as he came out I got to hold him for a minute and then they took him over to weigh and things amd everyone flocked over there... except my mom! She stayed with me till the end :)
  • Only person there when I had DD was DH, and only person who will be there for this baby is DH. We didn't even tell anyone (other than his boss since he had to leave work) that we were going into the hospital.

If DH didn't want to be there I'd go it alone.
  • At my first - DH, Mom, MIL and Best friend. 2nd pregnancy - DH, Mom, MIL, Best friend and Grandma in Law (my husband was the first and only grandchild she saw being born, so we offered to let her come in and watch HIS child being born). Third pregnancy will have my DH, and 7 family members  the room - homebirth.
I couldnt imagine not sharing that moment with others. Its such a wonderful experience to share with the people you love, and who love you too!

  • I'm only allowed two people where I live so I have chosen my hubby and my best friend who will act as my doula.
  • With my first, my SO, his mother and my mother were all present. Same option will be offered for the delivery of this child. It makes me feel better and more calm to be surrounded by the love, plus the support is unreal.
  • We are only having my husband in the room. Everyone else has this wonderful room called a waiting room. No one else needs to see that personal moment with us. Lol. I'm not big on too many people being there.
  • I'm not sure yet who will be with me, if anyone. If I can find someone to take my son possibly over night, Then my mom will be there otherwise I'm hoping a friend will be available, but they all have kids of their own so I'm not sure how it's going to work yet. 6 more months to figure it out.
  • This is #3 so thankfully family knows the drill...no one besides DH and medical staff will be seeing my lady parts! My MIL was super upset when my DD was born because she wasn't allowed to come in and film! I was in shock and said no no no to that! She knows better than to ask now. Everyone can come meet this LO after they are clean and swaddled :)

I hope someone will be there for you. Would hate to think of you not having someone there with you
