Has anyone seen Homeland Security USA?

This was on last night and I watched a portion of it before I knew what it was (I miss my TIVO menu) and I've never seen any more blatent propaganda shit_ before in my life.  It was crazy.

Stuff like "Oh we found these mexicans crossing the border and we are going to get them...oh but look! They aren't farmers. This one has tattoos so they must be in a gang, so it's good we got them."

 
And then of course they were "getting people" at airport security locations.  *rolls eyes*

I wonder how much the government was paying ABC to make that show?

    I didn't get to watch it last night, but I am definitley watching it when they showcase the Coast Guard.

    We liked the show, I thought it was cool to see what they do.  I'm glad they do that to try to make this place safer.  I lived in CA for a few years, and it was so easy to get across the border then.

    Yeah it was cool seeing the drug busts...125 pounds of mj.  crazy! (that was just one) but...It was very propaganday.  I had to *roll eyes* at it and turn over to biggest loser.

    Well exactly, and that;s what it's like. They showcase the guys tattos and say "this isn't just a farmer."

    I mean I'm sure they apprehended lots of farmers too, but didn't show it on the show because that would tug at our heartstrings so that's why I say it's propaganda.

    That is very true. I watched some great documentaries about this type of practice in college and unfortunately our government (whom i work for ::shudder::) does this on a daily basis. It?s very sad, because in my opinion, on the surface they want to make it appear they are protecting the U.S. from all of these illegal Mexicans bringing over drugs and taking our jobs but in the bigger picture, I think our government wants to keep many of the illegal Mexicans as they are a critical part of our economy?that will probably make some people mad but that?s just what I see and my feelings about it (and I'm a sociology minor so I dissect crap too much). There are definitely some bad people out there (like those bringing over the pounds of weed) but not all of them. After I type this, it reminds me of that movie The Lord of War?.lol

    Yeah I definitely got that?propaganda?feeling. Especially when they showcased the TSA worker and he started to get choked up talking about how his job makes the world a safer place for his children. This was immediately after they showed the oh so cute little white boy detailing what was in his bag. All the while his soccer mom standing behind him beaming proudly. bleh!

    It was interesting and we'll watch it again - but many grains of salt will be taken. :) You have to remember that ABC is owned by Disney. You have to expect a slant on all of their programming.

    I watched it last night and I was really into it. I couldnt believe all that was confiscated  ( sp?). The one that I thought was so crazy was the guy who was trying to smuggle the Mexican woman in under his seat while he was driving. It looked so crazy.
