I know we are a ways out yet, but since we've moved I've been looking up pediatric dentists. LO has had quite a set of teeth for a while so I'd like to go sooner rather than later. I'm wondering what to expect. Do they clean them? And if so, what's that like? LO loves brushing her teeth, but I've been trying to get into the habit of doing them for her since technically she's not doing anything but chewing on it. She fought a little in the beginning, but I think she's coming around to it. It just makes me nervous to think of that first appointment. I picture some type of restraints and a screaming child.

The dentist was great. He did amazingly we'll, no tears. I was soooo surprised. It was like he was in a trance.
She just looked at his teeth and showed us good ways to brush and that was it.

My pedi told me to take DS at 3. She said before that and they are too young. I do plan to ask our dentist at DS's next appointment, when if he recommends I bring DD sooner.
DS goes to a pediatric dentist. He told me he will never hold a child down. The first visit, he came into the waiting room to talk to me and DS. We were the only appointment at that time and he said he does that with the first visit so the child feels comfortable. He brushed DS's teeth and then scheduled us for a month later. I was wearing DD and he asked me to have her in a stroller so DS could sit on my lap. The second visit, I sat in the dentist chair and DS was on my lap. They inspected his teeth and brushed them with the electric tooth brush. The third visit, DS was fine and sat in the chair on his own. I was in the room with him. They did a full cleaning on his teeth. I love our dentist and how patient he was in making sure DS was very comfortable before he started the cleanings.
