You've cut back, limited, monitored and restricted yourself for 8 months. What are you most looking forward to indulging in post-pregnancy?

Re: Post-delivery vices

  • I chose SS. I don't really drink so not a big deal to me. And I haven't really limited my food. I really look forward to not worrying what medicines I can take. I miss NyQuil.

  • @krendel1990 I totally meant to put REAL medicine on there, momma is dying for Excedrin but I won't be able to have that again until I finish breastfeeding!

  • I've had little drinks of wine over the past couple months so I went with the food....Brie and salami! Can't wait!

  • I totally miss booze. We just started making wine/beer and DH has been raving over the quality of the stout etc.

Otoh, it would have been great to have NyQuil these past couple of weeks while I was fighting off the flu (sucks to catch the flu even after having gotten the flu shot).
  • Like @krendel1990‌ said, ibuprofen!! Tylenol doesn't do shit for me.
  • I just want a damn beer. I almost feel like this is a pregnancy thing and I won't really want one after I give birth because I have never wanted a beer the way I have for the last 3 weeks.

  • I would love a real pill for my allergies. This whole Benadryl thing has been fun but I have missed Zyrtec.

  • SS: I have waited 8 long months to go sky diving with DH. I found out I was pregnant two days prior to his birthday and we were going to go together. So as soon as I'm healed and comfortable we are going :)
  • I second the hot tub.

    I don't drink, I've still had coffee.

Ibuprofen does sound appealing too though!

  • I want food! Sushi, steak that isn't cooked too much, smoked salmon, Brie, and did I mention sushi.
  • Booze for sure. I miss having a beer out at dinner & wine nights w girlfriends. I also cant wait to workout again as crazy as that sounds.
  • I'm really looking forward to alcohol. Namely red wine. I've had some sips but I'd really like a big fat bottomless
    glass.

  • I voted for booze, even though I'm not much of a drinker. It's like because I can't have any, I've been wanting a beer so bad!

  • I absolutely agree with all the good meds, namely Ibuprofen/Advil and NyQuil. I'm also looking forward to going back on Weight Watchers.

  • Advil, icy hot, red bull, booze
  • I just want a damn beer. I almost feel like this is a pregnancy thing and I won't really want one after I give birth because I have never wanted a beer the way I have for the last 3 weeks.

I'm with you on this. I very rarely drink and I wanted rum so bad my entire first trimester.
  • Never much of a big drinker but every time I am preggo I suddenly crave alcohol! So one big Applebee's apple sangria & i would be satisfied ; ) usually my craving instantly goes away though so i probably won't even get to indulge!
  • I also agree with ibuprofen. What I would give to have my liquid Advil gels back during these awful migraines.

Is anybody still able to work out? My doctor told me to basically give up trying. But I love the after feeling of a good work out. I really miss kickboxing and being able to go all out.

After spending the holidays sick with one thing or another, I'm looking forward to NyQuil and NeoCitrin as options for when I have a cold.

  • Um. Hello. What about the meth option?!? I feel so left out.

Craft beer. A good craft beer.

Apparently you should hang out with my DH and his craft oatmeal stout!
  • I voted wrong :( I had a knee-jerk reaction to the booze, but then after voting I remembered that after delivery I can use my migraine medication again. Oh, sweet relief! If I could, I'd change my answer to SS.

I would give my left leg for a Maker's Mark on the rocks right now. I'll be BFing as well....PUMP AND DUMP. I probably wouldn't even be able to finish a glass after not drinking for so long. I also forgot about real medicine. I miss my Lunesta. I miss it even more now that pregsomnia is in full-effect nowadays.
@Xoxolicia If I remember correctly, you don't need to pump and dump. Just like the alcohol will migrate from your bloodstream into your breastmilk, when your BAC falls it'll migrate back out, I think. Double check on that, don't rely on my faulty memory.
  • I'm looking forward to a big fat dirty seafood laksa with all the half cooked shellfish, squid and prawns! I'm also looking forward to natural oysters with jugs some lemon juice! Oh and some beer! :)

Yes, booze in your breast milk is like booze in your blood stream. There are charts you can find that will tell you based on your weight and what you are drinking how long you need to wait until you feed again. Also the best time to drink is right before or while you are feeding - as it takes approx 30 min to get into your milk.

No need to pump and dump!

(Disclaimer - remembering based on what I read. Do your research).

  • I voted booze but I'm looking forward to the caffeine too. I have had a sip or two of wine/beer here and there throughout the pregnancy and I have had a cup of 1/2 caff coffee every morning but I can't wait for REAL, strong coffee and a whole beer (or two) all to myself.

  • I put special snowflake.  Mine is diet coke.  Although it tastes so much better to me right now, so maybe thats just pregnancy talking.  I feel bad when I drink it and usually only have sips of DH's.

I didn't go with alcohol only because I really don't miss it at all, which is super surprising to me.  I was a drinker before (Wine on fridays, a scotch 1 or 2 times a week after work) and I'm continually surprised at how uninterested I am in alcohol and how bad it tastes.

There were a few articles that just came out on this about a month ago.  They were probably all citing the same study, which I didn't look at though. But yes, this is exactly what they all said.

I'm still working out but it's not the same AT ALL! I miss my bootcamps SO bad. I miss lifting all the weights. I miss HIIT and pushing past the point where my body wants to quit. Waddling around the gym for an hour and struggling with the girlie weights or huffing and puffing while barely maintaining a jog are what I call workouts now. I can't wait to get back to my pre-pregnancy fitness level.

  • Bending over. One of the kids was complaining yesterday about an over stuffed cabinet that I can't reach and feel powerless to take care of. I warned all the children that a MAJOR purge is coming. By spring, I will be getting rid of so much stuff they are going to worry they're next!!!
