I ate the hospital food when I had the girls, Boston Hospitals had fairly good food, and many chain places right there.. However with this one, I am delivering much closer to home and I am drooling for a nice swordfish steak and Ahi Tuna! Hubby and I were talking about it the other day and he was more then willing to bring me some at the hospital! Made me wonder if you are sending hubby for that can't wait to have after deliver food?
Wish Martini's could be in a take out order
Editied** to add a side of oysters on the half shell!!! I can't wait!!!
I will finally be at a hospital that allows you to eat during labor. So, I won't have to wait! They have an awesome cafe on the first floor that does breakfast & lunch, but if it's after hours I can send someone out to get food.
I have a very fabulous friend who will be bringing a bottle of my favorite red wine, or maybe something delicious and sparkling. We'll each toast and enjoy a glass.
Damn, I can't plan this far ahead. Chipotle or Moe's sounds amazing though, but none are in close enough proximity that it would be practical. Now I need to seriously think about this.
My MW said they don't even recommend a bite of swordfish and since saying that at 8 weeks, thats all I want. I could have small amounts last pregnancy but I guess the mercury levels must have went! I couldn't plan this meal fast enough
There's nothing I am waiting until after the baby to eat. I'll probably just have hospital food or something else from a local place maybe. But I don't care really.
Had this convo at work last week. One of my co-workers said some of the local hospital L&D nurses will look the other way if someone brings in a bottle of wine, beer or champagne.....I've been craving a drink since about week 11. I may have to have someone sneak me in a beer or cider.
ETA: I'm now envisioning myself a bit tipsy in the hospital and someone calling CPS.....maybe I'll wait till I get home.
Our hospital food isn't too bad especially after having hyperemesis and not being able to eat much. I work nights at the hospital where I will be delivering. We order out occasionally so I am going to tell my coworkers if they order out to let me know. It will probably be Chinese.
I always thought I would want outside food, but I'm seriously not picky, so the meal I had after labor was delicious haha. Who knows maybe a big DQ blizzard or something. Yum!
Nope, I'll be fine with hospital food. After my first I remember being so hungry and distracted that anything would have been delicious, and anything special would have been lost on me. I'll save my "special" post birth meal for when we're home.
Sushi. There is an amazing sushi restaurant not too far from the hospital. DH will gladly pick up something to go. I'm under the impression from other friends who have delivered at the same hospital, that it has pretty good food. We'll see.
There are a few good restaurants nearby (Italian, French, Mexican, deli), and I have no qualms about sending someone out for a huge hoagie. And the hoagie place is right next to a liquor store with a decent wine selection... Unfortunately, what I really want is sushi and there are no good places nearby. Then again, I plan on going home ASAP so hopefully I won't have time to eat too many meals in the hospital.
When I was at the hospital with DD1 I don't remember wanting anything other than what was served there, I remember it being a crap ton of food. You chicks have great ideas though... I might request sushi! I feel nervous drinking in the hospital, but I would love an ice cold beer. But, like, now.
The food at my hospital is actually decent. With #2 my husband went and got pizza so we could all eat together the second day I was there. With #1 I was in labor for over 24 hours and was starving! When I finally gave birth the kitchen at the hospital was already closed- I vividly remember my amazing nurse leaning over and whispering in my ear, "You did amazing...the kitchen closed 20 minutes ago but I knew you were close so I ordered you a cheeseburger, fries and a coke- it's at the nurses station" Those were some of the sweetest words I've ever heard...
After each of my kids, I was STARVING. I remember a monster roast beef from Arby's with my 1st, and a double decker baconator from Wendy's with the last. For such a nice hospital, the food really sucks. But they give you a cupcake as soon as they get you to your recovery room.
I remember having big plans for someone to bring me Chipotle after I had DD. But every craving and desire for food was quenched with the cup of orange juice my nurse gave me right after delivery. It was better than steak and lobster. I didn't get to my recovery room until 1 am, but that next morning I had an amazing hospital breakfast. It was surprisingly good.
I really love my Deli turkey sandwiches, so I asked my husband earlier today if he would bring me a Jersey Mike's sandwich. That's been the hardest food to not eat. Hopefully I don't deliver right after they close!
I hadn't given any thought to this, but this thread made me so happy when I realized that the hospital at which I'll be delivering is just a block away from my favorite 24-hr diner! I feel like I just won the labor lottery. Black & white milkshake and disco fries FTW.

I can eat during labor at my birth center, but I found with my first that after a certain point I got really sick and couldn't even keep down water. Plus I was in a lot of pain from back labor so I didn't really eat much after about 30 hrs. I was starving by the time he was born. DH ordered me a Hawaiian pizza that I had been craving at like 12:30am. It was the best thing I had ever tasted. I have no clue about this time though.
Since I have GD and have had to give up certain foods and juice, I know I will be sending hubby out for Chinese take out, and probably an ice cream shake or ice cream dessert of some kind.

That is one awesome nurse you had! That is so great!
A cheeseburger from Five Guys and some fries sounds good RIGHT NOW. I can't think that far ahead but DH will be sent on a mission. I birth the baby.....the least he can do is drive around looking for good food for me.
Absolutely no idea what I will be wanting but being that the hospital that I am delivering at is 45 minutes away in a different city, I will be looking into what's close and yummy! Lots of good ideas on here but my stomach changes its mind every 10 minutes so I'll leave it up to delivery day!
I've joked that I'm gonna have my hubby bring me sushi but I doubt I actually will just because it would be better at the restaurant. I will be having him bring me food just not sure what yet. The hospital food where I deliver isn't that good at all.
My hospital gives a stork meal to the parents after baby is born. Luckily for us, the hospital is close to many resturants so I'm sure our stork meal will be the only hospital food we eat.
My hospital has a Subway in the same part of the hospital that labor and delivery is in. I'll probably have that. I LOVE Subway. But the hospital is also within quick driving distance of a bunch of places to eat (Wendy's, DQ, Zaxby's, Arby's, McDonalds, Firehouse, Taco Bell, etc). I'm sure whatever I want I can convince someone to go get me if I don't want hospital food. I can be picky but I'm not going to try and put people out. Or send my husband to get me something when he'd rather be with the baby. Unless it's downstairs to Subway, lol.

Hold the freakin phone.... wine is a possibility after delivery at the hospital?
I knew I loved you ladies.
My hubby has already agreed to bring me a turkey and roast beef (more raw the better on the beef) sandwich after delivery. I am not a big drinker but a nice glass of malbec sounds heavenly right about now, so we might try for a glass of wine too!
For what its worth, I already packed a beer in my hospital bag (yes, I have one already) for my husband. The man deserves a reward for being so patient and supportive.
Ya'll just rocked my world.

Our hospital food isn't bad, but I'm gluten free, so there's not many options and gets old faster.
I guess it depends on how long I'm in the hospital.
