We found out we will be having a baby girl in April and have narrowed down the names to 3. Big brother is Elijah goes by Eli.
Little sister name choices:
Zoey Ann
Samantha Ann
Viola Ann
(Viola is a family name and my third choice right now)
Ann is the name of my aunt and godmother.
I prefer Zoey and my husband prefers Samantha. My dh worries that Zoey is cute for a girl but can't see it as an adult name. I like Samantha and nn Sam but do not like Sammy as a nn.
Would love some feedback!
Re: Little Sister Name Choices!
Samantha Ann is nice. You can pretty much control her nn now while she's young, but she may decide as an adult that she prefers Sammy to Sam. You just need to decide if that's a dealbreaker for you.
Viola Ann is gorgeous!

I'm not a Zoe fan at all. It just doesn't sound or look pretty to me. I don't like the wee ending sound.
Samantha would be my second choice. It has a dated feel to me but much better than Zoe.
Also love Violet, which would still be a nod to Viola but a little more modern.

She could actually just be pronouncing it wrong, not spelling it wrong.
Just food for thought: my friend named her daughter Samantha thinking she would hate the nn Sammy, but she's been Sammy almost from the day she was born and my friend said, "it just fits her!" I guess my point is, you might be surprised what you end up liking.

Ye gods! Does that mean that my son's real name becomes Monkey several times a day?!?
It was a noble effort, but I'm afraid you're just wrong about this.
Monkey would be a name, yes. It would be a nickname. If you wrote it on his birth certificate, it'd be his legal name... Wouldn't it? You shouldn't be so confident if you're clearly wrong. There is a difference between a common noun and a proper noun. A name for a person is a proper noun- it can be one of a kind - that's why names are always capitalized... They don't operate under same rules as common nouns.
