Mine popped when I was about 4-5 cm. But I was also induced. It was a slow leak that I couldn't control and The midwife ended up breaking it more because it was still bulging some.
So much fluid.
November Siggy Challenge: How I feel in the Third Trimester
@amedbery I was dilated a half centimeter and hadn't been having contractions. I woke up at 6:30am heard a pop and it was like A flood gate opening. Epic amount of fluid. I started having contractions about a half hour later and they were coming one right after the other.
I love hearing how everyone went into labor. I didn't really *love* being pregnant but I have to say going into labor was a lot of fun for me! Am I crazy or does anyone agree?
Also, I said I wouldn't have the tv on while LO was awake. But Friends just came on Netflix so LO is getting introduced earlier than expected..

I caught LO looking at my phone while nursing. So much for not letting him see a phone until he's three!
My LO has already been introduced to Harry Potter. Prisoner of Azkaban was on tv the other day and I couldn't resist. I told DH I had to start her young, lol.
She also got to hear me sing the Fresh Prince of Bel Air song today.

You're not crazy. I really did not like being pregnant at all, but labor and delivery felt like this awesome (albeit painful) adventure to me.

How I felt going to the hospital for my induction...
Being in labor was by far the best part of both of my pregnancies - I had hyperemesis and got an epidural both times though, so that might have had something to do with it.
Ok stupid first time mom question time. Is it normal for me not to have much of an appetite?I get hungry but only like once a day. Everything else is normal. I'm 3 days PP.
I'm pretty sure AmyG came from the 3rd tri board. Also I have to say I'm a water birth fan for life. It made the pain soooo much more bearable.
---------- I only labored in the tub, but yes, the instant I got in was absolute HEAVEN. I remember telling the nurse it should be against the law not to labor in the tub. The further along I got the less effective it was, though. I didn't think I was interested in a water birth, but if I have another I would love one!

Edit for clarification.
I'm 3 weeks PP and I have no appetite at all. I pretty much force myself to eat. Which is crazy to me because when I was pregnant I couldn't get enough food, I would stuff my face all day.
Yep, this. I'm normally starving all the time. Now I forget to eat.
I was super excited to go into labor especially because I was facing induction. About 12 hours in, though, I was done with that particular adventure. Lol. I wish I had no appetite. I am ebf and I could eat the world. I am so hungry and thirsty.
To try and get things started, I pumped 15 minutes this AM and it was not fun. You ladies must have nips of steel! All that came out was like a teaspoon of stuff like the juice on top of yogurt. I guess being impatient has given me sour milk. I'll give it a go again tomorrow, but my boobs are not going to be happy.

@amedbery - Turn down the vacuum setting. That has helped. LO's pediatrician also prescribed an all purpose ointment.
@amedbery are you lubricating where your nipple goes? Lanolin is really nice for that.
Nope but I will tomorrow. Since I was only doing it to start labor and was just trying it out for the first time, I wasn't super sure what I was getting in to. But tomorrow I will try some lanolin before I start. I had the setting down pretty low - I may hit the letdown button early since I'm not getting anything anyway. Thanks ladies!

... No wonder it hurts! Wait to pump until after you have the baby! Nipple stimulation won't start labor but it could start useless contractions that could put your LO into distress.

+1 on the water birth. My contractions were very noticeable, but very manageable, but the water, being weightless, felt SO relaxing. It was awesome. The water also helped slow my labor down a little, that and the cervical lip.
@amedbery - my membranes ruptured when I was around 5 cm this time, but contractions didn't start until 18 hours later after inducing labor. That was the first time they ruptured on their own before the start of contractions. They were intact with #4 until his body was born.

Does anyone have a link to a website with feeding guidelines? AKA - how much babies generally need each day as they grow? We're just sort of playing it by ear at this point. Had our one week appt yesterday and babe is at the weight he left hospital in, so no issues. And then I of course forgot to ask about the amounts he needs.
@marsavary - Kellymom has a formula/calculation for calculating the amount as feeding guidelines. It was helpful but keep watching for full and hunger signs to make sure you aren't over feeding or under feeding. Pediatrician gave us a general recommendation (~2oz) but LO seems to be having a growth spurt (~3oz).
I'm so annoyed right now. Why do people insist on coming over to stay with us? I HAVE A FRIKIN NEWBORN! I have told one family no three times and today my brother in law and his family show up to stay the weekend. It would be one thing if someone were coming to help me but they aren't and I am so sleep deprived I don't have it in me to cater to anyone. I get texts and calls out the wazoo with people asking to stay with us. NO!
Ditto! I feel yah, @jengallagher. My sister, her kiddos, and husband wanted to stay with me the weekend after I have birth... Thank goodness she canceled, but they are still coming in a couple weeks! Not sure if I'll ever be ready... But, it's a whole lot better than them coming when my LO was only a week old! Good luck!
My in laws showed up the day after I gave birth...no joke. MH and I were not pleased to say the least.
My MIL flew in the day we got home. She's been here since with an open ended ticket. She's finally booked today and is leaving Monday. I've been so pissed off about it. That's too long for anyone to stay even if she is helpful. Being alone will be a huge shock but I'll I've wanted is time for me and DH to adjust on our own. So leaves the day he returns to work. Should be interesting
My mom invited herself to stay with us for 10 days. She was helpful in terms of watching LO and making food but it was also accompanied by constant nagging and passive aggression. DH literally yelled and danced around the house when she left lol.

Honestly the only family I miss is my dad. He was there for her birth and was extremely helpful. My in laws on the other hand just took over my house, made too much noise and were generally annoying. Not to mention my FIL decided to get completely wasted, throw up loudly in a bucket and pass out on the floor...oh and did I mention this is my first time meeting him? (MH's parents are divorced)
this happened to me right after child birth! It was so weird b/c it wasn't even the bottoms of my feet like normal people do, it was the tops too! and ankles! I'm pleased about it now though because I now have ankles and visible foot tendons

My feet and ankles became so ungodly swollen after birth it became a little painful to walk. I straight up had Ms. Piggy feet. They finally are back to normal but my feet are still sweaty.
November Siggy Challenge: How I feel in the Third Trimester
My feet and ankles were all swollen after having baby, too. Happened with my first as well. Both times I didn't really have any swelling during the pregnancy.
I still have crazy night sweats. I've been told that it's your body releasing the extra fluids it retained during pregnancy and/or delivery. I had little to no swelling while pregnant but did get tons of fluid during delivery. I'm 2 weeks PP and I can't wait for the sweats to stop!
